Tomb of St. Philip the Apostle discovered in Turkey's Denizli D'Andria said the structure of the tomb and the writings on it proved that it belonged to St. Philip the Apostle, who is recognized as a martyr in the history of Christianity The tomb of St. Philip the Apostle, one of the original 12 disciples of Christianity's central figure Jesus Christ, has been discovered during the ongoing excavations in Turkey's south-western province of Denizli. Italian professor Francesco D'Andria, the head of the excavation team at the Hierapolis ancient city in Denizli, told reporters on Tuesday that experts had reached the tomb of St. Philip whose name is mentioned in the ...

Debunking the Left-Wing Myths About 'Right-Wing, Extremist Christians' How many mischaracterizations can Peter Beinart make in a single paragraph? 2:55 PM, Jul 25, 2011 By MARK HEMINGWAY Peter Beinart has a doozy of a column up over at the Daily Beast, rather breathlessly titled, "Why Norway Could Happen Here." Since I suspect that Beinart managed to repeat every left-wing myth about the violent tendencies of Christians and conservatives, let's take a look at the key paragraph: Theres actually been a lot of right-wing, extremist Christian terrorism in the U.S. in recent years. The biggest terrorist attack in U.S. history prior to 9/11the 1996 ...

'Left-wing television commentators must be made to respect ... the law' Bradlee Dean A lawsuit seeking in excess of $50 million has been prepared against MSNBC and its talk-show entertainer Rachel Maddow over statements she made about a Minnesota-based ministry. Word of the development comes in an announcement from the YouCanRunButYouCannotHideInternational ministry run by former rock artist Bradlee Dean. The attorney handling the case is Larry Klayman, the founder of Judicial Watch and now of Freedom Watch, who said money is not the issue. "This case is filed as a matter of principle," he said. "We need more Bradlee Deans in the world and hateful left wing ...
Poll: Only 52% Of Americans Approve Of God’s Performance
Post Date: 2011-07-21 19:09:16 by Brian S
Dissatisfaction and anger with the federal government is nothing new, but now even Almighty God is having a tough time getting support from the public. A recently released survey (PDF) by Public Policy Polling (PPP) found that only 52 percent of American voters approve of God's performance, while nine percent disapprove and 40 percent are just not sure. Among "very liberal" respondents, 19 percent disapproved. Only four percent of "very conservative" voters had a problem with the deity. At 71 percent, God got His highest marks for creating the universe. His handling of animals was approved by 56 percent, and 50 percent even approved of His handling of natural ...
The ABC Should Be Put Out Of Its Misery
Post Date: 2011-07-13 07:22:16 by CZ82
The ABC Should Be Put Out Of Its Misery Certainly one of the most unbalanced and biased programs ever shown on Australian television was aired on you guessed our ABC last night. It appeared on the ABC religion program Compass, and was the most appalling attempt at journalism I have seen in quite some time. But I have written about this program before. It is supposed to be a religious program but it instead does everything to push every religion but Christianity. When Christianity is featured, it is almost always attacked and/or trampled on as I have documented here: www.billmuehlenberg.com/2...%99s-war-on-christianity/ But last ...
As a New Dark Age Descends Upon the West
Post Date: 2011-07-02 01:32:41 by CZ82
As a New Dark Age Descends Upon the West The Judeo-Christian worldview was perhaps the most important element in the rise of Western civilisation. Other factors can be mentioned, but without the biblical worldview and its impact, the West as we know it would never have arisen. Many scholars and experts have spoken to this. As just one example, American sociologist Rodney Stark has written a number of important volumes on these themes. Consider his seminal 2005 volume, The Victory of Reason. In it he says, The success of the West, including the rise of science, rested entirely on religious foundations, and the people who brought it about were devout Christians. He continues: ...
Jeremiah Wright: Israel is to Judaism as Flavor Flav is to Christianity

Jeremiah Wright: Israel is to Judaism as Flavor Flav is to Christianity By Daniel Treiman · June 23, 2011 In case you needed a reminder, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright really does not like Israel. Wright -- who was last heard complaining that the Jews
. Zionists were keeping him from seeing his most powerful former congregant -- had some not-so-nice words for the Jewish state during a recent appearance at a black church in Baltimore. Baltimore Sun columnist Marta Mossburg was at the Empowerment Temple to hear Wright tell the thousands who had come to see him speak: "The state of Israel is an illegal, genocidal
place," he said. "To equate Judaism ...

Businessman Herman Cain, who, in the private sector, turned around many companies that nobody thought could be turned around, has been getting more attention and the requisite scrutiny that follows it as his polls numbers have risen in the past weeks. Cain appeals primarily for two reasons. First, he is not a Washington politician and does not speak like one, and that endears him to voters fed up with typical politicians in an anti-establishment cycle. Second, Cains successful private sector experience separates him from other outsider candidates in recent cycles such as Sharron Angle and Christine ODonnell that the establishment and the media mocked. Cains ...
Sex abusing priests? Blame it on Woodstock

Sex abusing priests? Blame it on Woodstock Rick Moran Those who don't believe that religious entities like the Catholic Church aren't political should be disabused of that notion with the release of a study attempting to find out why priests abuse children. The $1.8 million study is supposed to be the definitive response of the US Catholic bishops to the epidemic of child abuse cases that have nearly destroyed the Catholic church in America. The fact that it will satisfy no one is the whole point of the exercise. They aimed for a report that was right down the middle and they got it. No blame goes to the celibacy of the priesthood. No blame goes to the increase in gay priests. ...

Presbyterians Approve Ordination of Gay People
Post Date: 2011-05-11 06:19:03 by Ferret Mike
After 33 years of debate, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has voted to change its constitution and allow openly gay people in same-sex relationships to be ordained as ministers, elders and deacons. Representatives of the Twin Cities presbytery, which covers Minneapolis and St. Paul, cast the deciding vote at its meeting on Tuesday. The outcome is a reversal from only two years ago, when a majority of the churchs regions, known as presbyteries, voted against ordaining openly gay candidates. This time, 19 of the churchs 173 presbyteries switched their votes from no to yes in recent months. The Twin Cities presbytery, which covers Minneapolis and St. Paul, cast the deciding ...

Pagans rejoice! Air Force Academy opens outdoor chapel for Wiccans, Druids and 'earth centred' worship groups
Post Date: 2011-05-05 18:35:16 by Sebastian
The face of the military is changing. What used to be seen as a bastion for evangelical Christianity is now expanding its lists of faiths to include Wiccans and Druids. At the Air Force Academy in Colorado, a prayer circle and veritable Stonehenge on the Rockies will now serve as a place of worship for the academy's neo-Pagans. Alternative: A dedication ceremony for the Cadet Chapel Falcon Circle was held at the Air Force Academy on Tuesday. The circle give those who prefer to worship outdoors a place to congregate The Colorado school has long faced criticism for only supporting evangelical Christianity. Lt Gen Michael Gould, the academys superintendent, said before a ribbon ...
Why do Americans still dislike atheists?
Post Date: 2011-04-30 05:54:57 by Ferret Mike
Long after blacks and Jews have made great strides, and even as homosexuals gain respect, acceptance and new rights, there is still a group that lots of Americans just dont like much: atheists. Those who dont believe in God are widely considered to be immoral, wicked and angry. They cant join the Boy Scouts. Atheist soldiers are rated potentially deficient when they do not score as sufficiently spiritual in military psychological evaluations. Surveys find that most Americans refuse or are reluctant to marry or vote for nontheists; in other words, nonbelievers are one minority still commonly denied in practical terms the right to assume office despite the ...
Obama Removes Jesus from Easter Message
Post Date: 2011-04-24 23:58:32 by Hondo68
President Obama literally edited Christ out of his holiday greeting today when he excerpted a sermon given by a military chaplain on Iwo Jima on Easter Sunday 1945.Below is the relevant paragraph from Obamas holiday greeting today:The rites of Passover, and the traditions of Easter, have been marked by people in every corner of the planet for thousands of years. They have been marked in times of peace, in times of upheaval, in times of war.One such war-time service was held on the black sands of Iwo Jima more than sixty years ago. There, in the wake of some of the fiercest fighting of World War II, a chaplain rose to deliver an Easter sermon, consecrating the memory, he ...

Paper Mill in Afghanistan Recycled the Koran into Toilet Paper It is called supporting "green" technology and protecting the earth. Everybody needs to recycle. LOL (Gulf Times) Three people have been arrested as officials probe claims that a paper mill in Afghanistan recycled copies of the Holy Quran into toilet paper, the attorney generals office said yesterday. Around 1,000 angry demonstrators, some throwing stones, held a protest on Monday at the mill on the outskirts of Kabul, leaving the building partially destroyed. Copies of the Quran were found inside the factory, Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai said, adding that no-one was injured in ...
What does God require of His children?
Post Date: 2011-04-19 03:00:23 by Don
What does God require of His children? (James Smith, "Good seed for the Lord's field!" 1856) What does God require of His children? God requires unqualified submission to His Word. You must . . . receive the doctrines He has revealed, believe the promises He has made, and perform the precepts He has given. His doctrines are to enlighten you, His promises are to comfort you, His precepts are to direct you, and His providence is to supply you. God requires you to look upon Himself as your Father, and to walk before Him as such--in faith, love, and holy obedience. He has provided grace to enable you to perform all that He requires--and He bids you to ask and receive. ...

"Is It Possible?"
Post Date: 2011-04-17 00:57:22 by Don
Reader, let me ask you a very important question (James Smith, "Is It Possible?" 1856) "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction--and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life--and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14 Reader, let me ask you a very important question. I do so in love. It is a solemn and plain question--but do not be offended at its plainness. Receive it, consider it, and reflect upon it: "Do you believe it is possible, that you may go to Hell?" That many go to Hell--cannot be doubted. That Hell is a dreadful place--cannot be questioned. ...
He will guide us to the end of the journey!
Post Date: 2011-04-15 22:59:20 by Don
He will guide us to the end of the journey! (James Smith, "The Pastor's Evening Visit") "He will be our guide--even unto death!" Psalm 48:14 What a precious assurance is this! Our God is our guide! He led us out of the world at first, directed us to the cross, and conducted us into the path of holiness. He has led us through all our past difficulties and trials; He leads us by the hand at present, and He will never give up His charge, for He will be our guide even unto death. He will . . . choose our way; lead us in the paths of righteousness; kindly converse with us along the road; point out the snares and dangers in our path; keep us by His power ...
Is that mother bird cruel?
Post Date: 2011-04-14 00:14:06 by Don
Is that mother bird cruel? (Charles Ebert Orr, "Food for the Lambs; or, Helps for Young Christians" 1904) "In a desert land He found him--in a barren and howling wilderness. He shielded him and cared for him. He guarded him as the apple of His eye--like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions." Deuteronomy 32:10-11 This picture is full of life and truth and beauty. Have you ever seen an eagle stir up her nest? You know what happens. There in the nest, right on the rocky heights, are the eaglets. The mother eagle comes and, taking hold of them, flings them out of the nest! They were ...
Liberalism, Black America's Greatest Enemy
Post Date: 2011-04-12 18:48:44 by CZ82
Liberalism, Black America's Greatest Enemy By Lloyd Marcus I recently had another cherished chat over the phone with my 84-year-old black dad. He lives in Maryland. I live in Florida. Dad, sharp as ever, still pastors four churches. He also volunteers a few days a week teaching at an elementary school. Dad told me about an outrageously unruly and disruptive little boy in his class. Dad said, "Every time I take him to the office for discipline, they do nothing and send the disobedient child back to my class." Dad jokingly said, "Does this kid have something on you guys? Why do you keep letting him off scot-free?" Dad, the answer to why the school is not ...
