Former Israeli Intel Chief Says Israel Convinced US to Kill Soleimani

Israel’s former military intelligence chief has said Israel convinced the US that Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani posed an “immediate threat” to American soldiers, the same language former President Trump used to justify his assassination at the time, although no evidence was ever provided for the claim. Soleimani was the commander of Iran’s IRGC Quds Force and was killed in Baghdad by a US drone strike in January 2020. At the time, Tamir Hayman served as the head of Israel’s Military Intelligence Directorate. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Monday that none of Ukraine’s Western backers has “done enough” to support Kyiv in a call for more military aid. “Ukraine is grateful to partners for their military aid, but we should remain honest with one another: no one has done enough as long as Russian boots remain on Ukrainian ground,” Kuleba wrote on Twitter. As a teenager in the 1970s, I recall talking to my dad about fears of nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union. My dad took a broad view, suggesting that if U.S. and Soviet leaders were stupid enough to blow each other to smithereens, a billion Chinese people would be left to pick up the slack and move the world forward. My dad was right about many things, but what he didn’t realize was that U.S. nuclear war plans (known as SIOPs) often called for the elimination of the USSR and China, even if China had had no involvement in events leading up to the war. Recently, The New American reported that Daniel Duggan, a former U.S. Marine fighter pilot, faced charges for breaching U.S. arms-control laws by training Chinese military pilots to land on aircraft carriers. Currently, Duggan is awaiting extradition from Australia to the United States. Should such charges be true, Duggan indeed committed a treasonous act for teaching Chinese pilots as well as enhancing the know-how of the communist-controlled People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. The US announced a $9 million military assistance package to the Somali government based in Mogadishu. The Joe Biden administration hopes the Somali military will use the weapons against al-Shabaab. On Dec. 21, a U.S. military plane embroiled in a showdown with Chinese aircraft in the disputed South China Sea breached international law and undermined the safety of Chinese pilots, China’s Defense Ministry spokesman claimed. US appears to be in the process of transferring its Patriot air defense missile system to Ukraine. CNN in its article, “Exclusive: US finalizing plans to send Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine,” claims the US will approve and then quickly ship the system or systems into Ukraine in just days after the decision is made. Paradoxically, CNN admits that training the large numbers of Ukrainians necessary to operate the system will take months.
