Exclusive–Rand Paul: Real Conservatives Stand For Private Property
Post Date: 2015-08-24 18:53:49 by cranky

I remember having a conversation with a local city official in Kentucky when the Kelo Supreme Court decision came down. Conservatives, myself included, were outraged that the Supreme Court had wrongly allowed using eminent domain to take private property from one private property owner and give it to another private owner. Conservatives in my community came together with a local resolution to prevent this from happening. I’ll never forget the response from the local official, who told me: “But you know me, I would never use eminent domain that way.” I responded: “The law isn’t about you—it’s about when we get bad representatives and must have the law to ...

Trump, Sanders, Immigration -- Nationalism & Socialism

Trump’s rise is mirrored on the European right. From Malmö comes the news that the Sweden Democrats, scrubbed-up neo-fascists who have forsaken the Roderick Spode uniforms, have become Sweden’s most popular political party, commanding the allegiance of a quarter of Swedish voters. The 25 percent mark is of some interest: It’s about where Donald Trump stands in the most recent Republican primary poll and where Bernie Sanders stands in Democratic primary polls. It’s a little bit ahead of the 20 percent mark, where the Danish People’s party stands, and a little bit behind Nigel Farage’s UKIP, while in France, Marine Le Pen’s National Front took 25 ...

For Koch group, winning is rising as priority over purity

The head of the Koch brothers' flagship political organization says a Republican winning the presidency is becoming a higher priority for more of its members, suggesting a rift between pragmatists and ideologues. Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips said conservative fatigue after George W. Bush's presidency in 2008 and overconfidence in efforts to beat President Barack Obama in 2012 have focused more members on winning back the White House than he's seen since the group formed a decade ago. "I do think there is a sense of urgency about the future," he said, "that you owe it to your principles to win for those principles." It's hard to tell how ...

GOP Consultant Lays Out New Genius Plan to Take Down Trump: ‘How Brutus Killed Caesar,’ Get Close Then ‘Shiv Him in the Ribs’

The geniuses in the Washington, D.C.- centered GOP establishment have a new plan to take down 2016 Republican frontrunner Donald Trump: Infiltrate his inner circle posing as an ally, then use their fabricated support of him to secretly plot to take him down. But now they all admit: They were wrong, Trump is real, and he has a serious shot at winning this thing. “Just like Humphrey Bogart said in Casablanca, I was misinformed,” Alex Castellanos, one such consultant, said of Trump in an interview with Bloomberg Politics on Friday. “He’s grown. He started off as the anti-Washington candidate, the angry man’s candidate, now he’s becoming not just an anti-them vote ...

Trump Calls Out Race-Baiting ABC News Reporter Tom Llamas

With his hysterical gotcha attacks over the use of the innocuous term “anchor baby,” ABC News reporter Tom Llamas has become the left-wing network’s race-baiter-in-chief this week. On top of being a race-baiting grandstander, Llamas has exposed himself as a propagandist. No one working for ABC News has heckled Hillary Clinton in this way. Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, one of two GOP candidates Llamas has attacked, took to Twitter Wednesday night to publicly call out Llamas out for his dishonest reporting, and in doing so showed once again why he is the frontrunner: — .@TomLlamasABC cannot report the news truthfully. Why not apologize for your fraudulent story on ...

First on CNN: Biden meets with Warren in Washington

Vice President Joe Biden met privately with Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Saturday in his residence at the Naval Observatory, CNN has learned, another sign he is seriously deciding whether to jump into the Democratic presidential race. The meeting between Biden and Warren, confirmed by two people familiar with the session, is the biggest indication yet that Biden is feeling out influential Democrats before announcing his intentions. Beloved by liberal Democrats, Warren decided to sit out a campaign of her own, but she has yet to formally endorse a candidate. In an interview on Friday, she told WBZ in Boston: "I don't think anyone has been anointed." The vice president arrived in ...

The new explanation: Trump voters are dangerous

This is becoming something of an almost comfortable ritual at this point. Another week goes by, Donald Trump does or says something to generate a new round of headlines, everyone predicts that he’s on the way out, and the next poll shows The Donald further ahead than ever. Then the veteran analysts are left staring at their laptops forlornly, stuck with the unenviable task of writing something to explain why. Once the first set of numbers came out which showed that not only was Trump on top of the GOP heap but was within striking distance of Hillary in the general (and losing to her by less than Jeb, by the way) the task became even more of a burden. This morning, our friend Jim ...

Rand Paul: 'How Do You Out-Trump the Irrational?'

CAP-HAITIEN, HAITI — Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul says it's only a matter of time until the country wakes up to Donald Trump's insincere message, but he's worried that some Americans are blinded by his "celebrity." In a series of interviews between performing pro-bono eye surgeries in Haiti with the University of Utah's Moran Eye Center, the Kentucky senator was relaxed in scrubs, dismissive of Trump and critical of the media's role in Trump's rise. "How do you out-Trump the irrational?" he asked. It's a question he and the other Republican candidates are puzzling over. Paul said the reason "people have gone ...

GOPe 2016 Road Map To Victory – Tree House Challenge…

Most of you are familiar with our earlier prediction.  In essence, based on historical and current GOPe events and action, we predicted the GOPe leadership, along with Wall Street and Tom Donohue, would devise a roadmap for Jeb Bush to win the 2016 Presidential nomination. In December of 2013 we found clues to the GOPe roadmap and began watching carefully. In a very general sense the broad construct begins around a very specific premise: The GOPe knew they would need to devise a strategy to elect Jeb Bush with around 15 – 25% of the primary vote, depending on the state – through the first nine calendar primary races.  ...

Mark Halperin: Some GOP rivals now think Trump could win Iowa, the nomination — even the presidency

Via Breitbart, I can definitely see him winning Iowa, which would all but finish off Scott Walker. I can also kinda sorta see him winning the general election if everything broke right for him — scandals blow up what’s left of Hillary’s trustworthiness, black voters stay home with Obama off the ticket, GOP establishmentarians grudgingly stick with Trump in the name of reclaiming some leverage over the White House, and Trump’s platform (including/especially on immigration) peels off enough centrist Democrats to more than make up for the number of Republicans who can’t stand Trump and decide to stay home. The part I have the most trouble with here is seeing how he ...

Immigration Trump Card

Maybe what is most remarkable about Trump’s immigration paper is that none of the other candidates beat him to it. I mean no disrespect to his policy people, but anyone could have written it in a few days, a week maybe. The material is easily found online and unlike, say, health care policy, it’s really not that complicated. Which suggests that the campaigns of most of the other leading candidates hoped they could avoid offering an actual plan, finessing the issue instead by mouthing platitudes for the yahoos without specifics that might upset donors. Trump’s paper takes direct aim at this strategy when it states “Real immigration reform puts the needs of working people ...

Say what you will about Donald John Trump, but how many of us wish that Romney had had the balls to run an ad like this 3 years ago? I'm betting the number is as close to 100% as you can get. If Romney had done that, we'd be gearing up for his re-election campaign, not endlessly arguing about Donald Trump. I remain constantly amazed at how badly the Trump candidacy is being handled by the Republican Party as a whole. Frankly, if I were Reince Priebus, when Trump started to gain traction I would have gotten down on my knees and praised God with tears of joy pouring from the corners of my eyes. Donald Trump could be the greatest thing to happen to the Republican Party since Lincoln ...

Hmmm: Petraeus investigator managing DoJ probe into Hillary server

The investigation into The Saga of the Secret Server took a couple of interesting turns yesterday evening. Many critics of the slow response from the Department of Justice to Hillary Clinton’s exclusive use of an unauthorized and unsecured secret server have wondered why the Obama administration seemed much more interested in prosecuting former CIA Director and Iraq War genius David Petraeus for a less-impactful exposure. The Washington Post’s Carol Leonnig, Karen Tumulty, and Rosalind Helderman noted at the bottom of their late-afternoon roundup that the pressure may be picking up after all: The investigation is being overseen by two veteran prosecutors in the Justice ...

Donald Trump still battling lawsuits from defunct Trump University [Full Thread]

Presidential candidate Donald Trump wants to "Make America Great Again!" Before he can do that, he has to answer to allegations that his now-defunct Trump University was a scam. Trump is involved in two lawsuits brought by former students and one by the New York Attorney General. The Donald is expected to be questioned under oath next month in a class action lawsuit brought by Art Cohen, who spent more than $36,000 on the Trump programs. Cohen's suit alleges that Trump University failed to deliver on its promises to provide a premier education. Trump University, launched in 2005, promised to teach students the mogul's investing techniques to get rich on real estate. ...

Coulter v. Cooke on Trump

At Hot Air for more commentary. I watched this on YouTube last night and planned to discuss it since; I'm a bit unsure how to discuss it, because the points Cooke makes -- that Trump has been (or is, depending on the issue, and depending when you ask him) "very pro choice," in favor of the nonsense assault weapons ban, in favor of single payer socialized medicine (he cites socialist Canada and socialist-on-England's-dime Scotland as success stories), in favor of a wealth tax on the rich, considers himself more of a Democrat than a Republican, and of course has donated lots of money and praise to Hillary Clinton and her shady Foundation -- are simply deemed to not matter, ...

On Thursday evening’s program of the David Webb Show on SiriusXM radio, Governor Scott Walker continued to lay out popular reforms to control exploding immigration. Walker told listeners that he would “absolutely” put an end to the sanctuary city policies that have led to the death of countless American victims like 32-year-old Kate Steinle. He argued that there should be “no debate” about doing so: There should be no debate and no discussion about sanctuary cities in this country. The law should be clear– it is the federal law when it comes to immigration… For goodness sakes, we’re seeing the real– the very real– public safety risk for what ...

Hillary Released Her Donor Records…. Guess Which News Company Donated MILLIONS?

How easily swayed is Hillary Clinton and her camp by money? Well, would you believe a corporation that’s one of her biggest opponents is also one of her biggest donors? News Corp, the parent company of Fox News, is surprisingly one of Clintons’ 10 biggest donors since 1992, donating over three million dollars to Hillary and her various foundations. googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1427913211488-1'); According to newly-released donor data from the Federal Election Commission and the Center for Responsive Politics, that’s the ninth largest donor to Clinton during that time period. Exclusive — Donald Trump Expects to Face VP Joe Biden in General Election: Hillary Clinton’s ‘Big League’ Email Scandal Will Force Her Out

Should billionaire and GOP frontrunner Donald Trump win the Republican primary in 2016—as he certainly wants to do—he expects he will face Vice President Joe Biden in the general election since he thinks the current email scandal plaguing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will eventually knock her out of the race. When asked in a wide-ranging interview with Breitbart News in his office on the 26th floor of Trump Tower if he could envision a general election with him at the top of the Republican ticket and Vice President Biden leading the Democratic ticket, Trump said, “I think so.” “I think Hillary has got huge problems right now,” Trump said, adding: ...

Jeb Bush: "I’ll tell you, taking out Saddam Hussein turned out to be a pretty good deal"

Lefty media (both overt and covert), which has been back on its heels lately thanks to Hillary’s impending arrest and prosecution, is already buzzing about the line quoted above, uttered today by Bush in Iowa. Skip to 9:40 of the clip below for the question and his answer in full. On the one hand, I’m reluctant to clobber a guy for a poorly worded soundbite when, as here, it’s in service to a sound point, that Obama and Hillary wasted the security improvements in Iraq circa 2009 by bringing everyone home and then standing around while Maliki fostered sectarian war. On the other hand, Democrats are going to clobber him with it so why shouldn’t we have at it now, when ...

GOP insiders: C’mon, Trump’s not really going to run third-party

If there’s anything we’ve learned from the last two presidential election cycles, it’s to always trust the judgment of GOP insiders. President Trump’s going to invite each of these guys up onstage at his inaugural ball and berate them publicly for being losers. Having considered these factors, Republicans appear widely to have decided it best to not take Trump’s threat seriously. Underpinning this conclusion is a sense among Republicans that Trump, while certainly wealthy enough to fund a third-party bid, would not ultimately have the stomach for such a herculean undertaking. Even if ballot access and funding were not at issue, the campaign would almost surely be a ...
