Ice storms, snow, floods, tornado wallop US killing 13
Post Date: 2007-01-15 00:56:42 by TLBSHOW
Freezing rain, snow, sleet, flash floods and at least one tornado walloped the United States this weekend, killing at least 13 people in accidents on slick roads as a massive storm front blanketed much of the country. The storm was expected to continue through at least Tuesday. The ice, wind and snow downed trees, traffic signals and power lines, blocked roads and forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights. Churches cancelled Sunday services and businesses closed early or did not open at all. Ten people died in Oklahoma where slippery highways caused more than 200 accidents, the Oklahoman newspaper reported. A state of emergency was declared and the National Guard was called out in ...
Jesus Was the "Prince of Peace," But Not a Muslim

Jesus Was the "Prince of Peace," But Not a Muslim As the world celebrates the birth of the "Prince of Peace," our conservative president repeatedly refers to Islam as a "religion of peace," despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. In a practical sense, the president's naive mindset may explain why professionals working in Homeland Security are ordered to follow PC, rather than common sense, in dealing with "young, middle-eastern males who speak Arabic." For instance, TSA is prohibited from using racial profiling as a tool for identifying potential terrorists. As if my 87-year old grandmother, wheel-chair and all, is as much a threat to ...

The Christmas story is truly the most remarkable and beautiful story ever told. The fact that an omnipotent Creator would deliver His plan of salvation for humanity through an innocent child wrapped in swaddling clothes is both moving and telling. After all, He could have use the enormous forces of nature to draw attention to his dissatisfaction with the spiritual shortfall of the species created in His image. A major flood, a devastating string of earthquakes, violent storms and other calamities could have been visited upon the earth and its sinful inhabitants. Instead, He chose to deliver His message of hope and eternal life through a human instrument, in the form of the baby ...

IS IT IGNORANCE OR MISPLACED TRUST? By Pastor Chuck Baldwin December 12, 2006 http://NewsWithViews.com For the life of me, it is difficult, even exasperating, to understand how my fellow Christian ministers can excuse and condone the un-American and un-Christian actions and policies of modern politicians. What in the world is going on? Are they blind to what is happening, or do they just not care? It is truly frustrating! For example, I received a letter from a trusted friend (whose name I will not divulge) who told me of a private conversation he had with a notable conservative Christian leader (whose name shall also be withheld). During the conversation, my friend asked the ...
Pope Benedict betrays God, prays facing toward Mecca "like Muslims" - [God will destroy this Pope]
Post Date: 2006-12-01 10:23:13 by TLBSHOW
Pope Benedict ended a sensitive, fence-mending visit to Turkey on Friday amid praise for visiting Istanbul's famed Blue Mosque and praying there facing toward Mecca "like Muslims." The Pope, who sparked protests across the Muslim world with a speech two months ago seen as criticizing Islam, looked relaxed and pleased as he entered the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit for a mass at the end of the four-day trip. His first visit to a mostly Muslim country, held under tight security for fear of protests by nationalists and Islamists, was highlighted by a series of conciliatory gestures culminating in a stop on Thursday afternoon in Istanbul's famed Blue Mosque. Istanbul Grand ...

(State College, PA) - A dangerous mix of weather including blizzard conditions, ice, rain, thunderstorms and bitterly cold temperatures is hammering the central states and causing travel nightmares. In addition, a swath of heavy snow is spreading northeastward over the Midwest. The sharp cold front at the leading edge of the arctic air that has been moving out of the Northwest over the past several days is clashing with the unseasonably warm air that has been in place over the eastern third of the nation. On Wednesday, the front sparked rain and thunderstorms, hail and damaging winds from central Texas to Michigan. The low pressure center responsible for the snow, ice and thunderstorms will ...

As the bullish upper-level storm swings through Thursday, snow could become heavy in eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, lifting into southeast Kansas and western Missouri. A thin ...

Violence Mars PlayStation 3 Launch NEW YORK (AP) -- Tight supplies of Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3 game console led to rowdiness at several stores when it went on sale Friday and tempted new owners to sell their consoles for a profit to those who hadn't braved the throngs of sharp-elbowed shoppers. In Putnam, Conn., two gunmen tried to rob people lined up for the console, and shot one who refused to surrender his money. Michael Penkala, 21, of Webster, Mass., was wounded in the chest and shoulder. He was in stable condition Friday with injuries not believed to be life threatening, according to Connecticut State Police. In Fresno, Calif., police arrested two people and threatened to use ...

Survivors picked through the rubble of their flattened homes Friday and divers planned to search a nearby pond after a tornado killed eight people in this riverside town, the area hardest hit by a devastating storm system that swept into the Northeast overnight. Gov. Mike Easley said Friday that four of the 20 people injured when the tornado struck Riegelwood remained in "very, very critical condition." Several of the injured were children. Part 1God lays the case that he has already judged America and has brought it to the point of destruction. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. 19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.

'They just don't get it' is why Republicans lost
Post Date: 2006-11-09 23:19:22 by TLBSHOW
Dobson's predictions about values and the Republican Party go back even further than that, too. In 1998 he told a reporter that the GOP was in danger of losing its ability to "claim to speak for those of us with deep moral convictions." He said at that time the party has "ignored the moral issues year after year, term after term" and said at that time it was "time to fish or cut bait." Eight years ago he warned the GOP Christians and conservatives "will abandon them if they continue to ignore the most important issues." Even before he made that forecast, Dobson said that Christians should tell the GOP leadership at that time Newt Gingrich, ...
The God vacuum: America and the barbarian hordes by allowing barbarians to invade and plunder their cities and put many of them to the sword
Post Date: 2006-11-09 23:06:20 by TLBSHOW
The God vacuum: America and the barbarian hordes Posted: November 9, 2006 In the Old Testament of the Bible, God is shown time after time chastising the House of Israel, His chosen but often disobedient people, by allowing barbarians to invade and plunder their cities and put many of them to the sword. That is what the Western World, including America, is starting to experience today, having likewise turned away from God. This raging conflict between Islam and the West, this "clash of civilizations" that many are calling World War III, is at root a spiritual war. (Column continues below) It's been said that it takes a religion to fight a religion. More precisely, it takes ...

Is God dead? Atheism finds a market in U.S
Post Date: 2006-10-18 21:13:37 by TLBSHOW
By Michael Conlon, Religion Writer CHICAGO (Reuters) - A fresh wave of atheistic books has hit the market this autumn, some climbing onto best-seller lists in what proponents see as a backlash against the way religion is entwined in politics. "Religion is fragmenting the human community," said Sam Harris, author of "Letter to a Christian Nation," No. 11 on the New York Times nonfiction list on October 15. There is a "huge visibility and political empowerment of religion. President George W. Bush uses his first veto to deny funding for stem cell research and scientists everywhere are horrified," he said in an interview. Religious polarization is part of ...

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Crime continued to drop in Florida during the first half of this year, but the rate of violent crimes, particularly murders, went up, according to state figures released Tuesday.
Crimes tracked by federal officials, ranging from the seemingly minor like shoplifting and bicycle theft to serious ones like rape, robbery and murder dropped from 412,743 in the first six months of 2005 to 411,608 in the first half of 2006, statistics compiled by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement showed.
That represented a decrease of 0.3 percent, continuing a downward trend that has put the state's crime rate at its lowest in more than three decades.
But there was a striking ...

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Torrential rains and hurricane-force winds ripped through Tennessee, downing trees and forcing officials to close major roads in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Tuesday. The storm, which had a peak wind gust of 106 mph, swept into the 520,000-acre preserve that straddles the Tennessee-North Carolina border on Monday evening. In southeast Texas, the storm was blamed for severe flooding that killed at least five people, while it damaged hundreds of homes and forced schools to close in northern Louisiana. Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco on Tuesday declared a state of emergency for 11 parishes, and ordered state emergency management officials to send teams ...

The power outage reduced Prudhoe Bay output from 350,000 barrels per day Monday to about 35,000 Wednesday.
God's gonna get the Bush boys for making fun of him

God's gonna get the Bush boys for making fun of him By DOUG THOMPSON No one should be surprised that President George W. Bush and his senior aides privately ridiculed right-wing Christians and evangelicals that helped put them into office. Bush has shown repeatedly that he lacks respect for anything, be it the Constitution, freedoms that once were considered sacrosanct in the nation, the law or the truth. Now a White House insider who once ran the administration's "faith-based initiative" reveals that the whole "God is my copilot" shtick is just another callous, cynical political ploy to get votes and political support. Reports Peter Wallsten of the Los Angeles ...

The End - World conflicts give rise to talk of the second coming of Christ and Armageddon
Post Date: 2006-10-15 17:14:13 by TLBSHOW
While biblical prophecy may be a tricky proposition, some local pastors say the upheaval, especially that unfolding in the Middle East, could be the precedent for fulfilling Christs ultimate second coming. Whether such end times are near, Christians, they say, need to be on guard for such a return, which will precede a literal battle of Armageddon. Such views arent out on the fringe. According to recent Newsweek magazine polls, 55 percent of Americans believe in the rapture, when Christs believers will be swept up into heaven before a seven-year period of tribulation and war, and 17 percent of Americans believe the world will end in their lifetimes. ...
Terri Schiavo's brother, says nation lost compassion

Terri Schiavo's brother, "nation lost compassion"
On Thursday, Bobby Schindler, Terri Schiavo's younger brother, spoke about his sister in Michigan.
"Unfortunately, the laws now err on the side of killing rather than protecting the disabled," Bobby Schindler said after a broad indictment of many of the main players in Terri Schiavo's death March 31, 2005, after a feeding tube was removed on court order.
"That's what is so frightening," he said Thursday after speaking before more than 200 people at a benefit dinner hosted by Flint Right to Life and Black Americans for Life. "I think we've lost our sense of compassion."
