When did the U.S. government pass a law dictating the Separation of Church and State? Where can this law be found?

When did the U.S. government pass a law dictating the Separation of Church and State? Where can this law be found? As the concept is commonly understood today, the government has never passed a law implementing the "separation of church and state." The First Amendment simply states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Over the years, however, the Supreme Court and lower federal courts have reinterpreted this amendment in many ways. This reinterpretation of the Constitution has in effect become the law supposedly dictating the "separation of church and state." Let's ...

Herman Cain Says Jesus Was a Perfect Conservative Who Was Condemned By a Liberal Court Posted on October 20, 2011 at 10:06am by Billy Hallowell Last December, GOP presidential contender Herman Cain penned an interesting article about Jesus Christ that has been resurrected (no pun intended) and is getting some attention in the blogosphere. Published just five days before Christmas, the piece claims that Jesus was a perfect conservative and that he
changed the world for the better. In his article, Cain goes on to explain, though, the reasons why he believes that to be true. He writes: He helped the poor without one government program. ...

Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), said Tuesday that a regulation the Obama administration has proposed under the new health-care law enated last year would require religious employers to provide their workers with abortifacients, which are drugs that kill an unborn child. He also said that what he perceived as Obamacare's threat to individual liberty was "one of the most serious issues weve ever seen in the history of this Republic. At an event sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, CNSNews.com asked Hatch: The U.S. Conference of Catholic ...
Survey Shows U.S. Religious Tolerance
Post Date: 2011-10-15 14:09:21 by Ferret Mike
Although a majority of Americans say religion is very important to them, nearly three-quarters of them say they believe that many faiths besides their own can lead to salvation, according to a survey by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. The report, the U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, reveals a broad trend toward tolerance and an ability among many Americans to hold beliefs that might contradict the doctrines of their professed faiths. For example, 70 percent of Americans affiliated with a religion or denomination said they agreed that many religions can lead to eternal life, including majorities among Protestants and Catholics. Among evangelical Christians, 57 ...

Islamophobia has increased in the US and Europe but some Muslim activists believe they will eventually be accepted, just like the Irish and other immigrant groups who had to struggle for their place in American society [GALLO/GETTY] "USA! USA!" chanted the mob of hundreds as it tried to march towards Bridgeview's Mosque Foundation just southwest of Chicago. It was September 12, 2001, one day after the attacks that brought down the World Trade Center towers 800 miles to the east in New York City. Had it not been for the police, Muslims in Bridgeview feared the attempted protest against their place of worship would have led to violence, and their mosque that was founded in ...

Making Afghanistan Safe for Sharia - Child Brides Division Andrew G. Bostom As reported by the London Evening Standard, (hat tip Religion of Peace) to its own self-described "shock" (despite the commonality of the practice -- i.e., notwithstanding the civil law against child brides, more than half of all Afghan girls are married before they reach age fifteen), a decade after British troops entered this chronically war-torn Muslim backwater, the publication (emphasis added): ... has uncovered shocking evidence of an eight-year-old girl who was married off to a policeman for cash. Predominantly Atheist Countries Have Lowest Crime Rate According To Study « on: March 18, 2008, 11:21 PM » bawomolo (m) Several weeks ago, a ground-breaking study on religious belief and social well-being was published in the Journal of Religion & Society. Comparing 18 prosperous democracies from the U.S. to New Zealand, author Gregory S Paul quietly demolished the myth that faith strengthens society. Drawing on a wide range of studies to cross-match faith measured by belief in God and acceptance of evolution with homicide and intimate behavior, Paul found that secular societies have lower rates of violence and teenage pregnancy than societies where many ...

An Open Letter to America’s Christian Zionists

An Open Letter to Americas Christian Zionists From David P. Gushee and Glen H. Stassen September 19, 2011 Dear Christian Brothers and Sisters, Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We write to you about an urgent matter of common concern. In a week or so, unless their plans change dramatically, Palestinian leaders will make a unilateral declaration of a State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders and will turn to the United Nations for a vote to recognize their new state. The present Netanyahu government of Israel is, of course, totally opposed to this course of action on the part of the Palestinians. The United States government (predictably) shares this ...
Evangelicals Call Christian Zionist Uncritical "Support" for Israel "Appalling" and "Intolerable"
Post Date: 2011-09-20 15:06:47 by Brian S
At the New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good, David Gushee of Mercer University and Glen Stassen of Fuller Evangelical Seminary have penned an "Open Letter to America's Christian Zionists," pleading with them to "find a better way" to "love" Israel. Gushee and Stassen have recently visited the Occupied Territories. Note that they use this terminology, in a sharp departure from the framing deployed by the targets of their letter. Christian Zionists more frequently use "Judea and Samaria" to refer to the West Bank, which is the terminology used by Rep. Joe Walsh, the Tea Party favorite and child support evader who has introduced a ...
Clinton Popularity Prompts Buyer’s Remorse
Post Date: 2011-09-16 11:23:42 by Get Outta Dodge!
The most popular national political figure in America today is one who was rejected by her own party three years ago: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Nearly two-thirds of Americans hold a favorable view of her and one-third are suffering a form of buyers remorse, saying the U.S. would be better off now if she had become president in 2008 instead of Barack Obama. The finding in the latest Bloomberg National Poll shows a higher level of wishful thinking about a Hillary Clinton presidency than when a similar question was asked in July 2010. Then, a quarter of Americans held such a view. Looking back, I wonder if she would have been a stronger leader, knowing the games and ...
Are Evangelical Christians Warmongers?

Ive been an evangelical Christian since I was a child. Ive been in the Gospel ministry all of my adult life. I attended two evangelical Christian colleges, received honorary degrees from two others, and taught and preached in several others. Ive attended many of the largest evangelical pastors gatherings and have been privileged to speak at Christian gatherings -- large and small -- all over America. I have been part of the inner workings of evangelical ministry for nearly 40 years. I think I learned a thing or two about evangelical/fundamentalist Christianity in America. And Im here to tell you: I dont like what I see happening these days! Lets ...
Pat Robertson: Divorcing A Spouse With Alzheimer's Is Justifiable
Post Date: 2011-09-15 15:06:42 by Brian S
Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson told his "700 Club" viewers that divorcing a spouse with Alzheimer's is justifiable because the disease is "a kind of death." During the portion of the show where the one-time Republican presidential candidate takes questions from viewers, Robertson was asked what advice a man should give to a friend who began seeing another woman after his wife started suffering from the incurable neurological disorder. "I know it sounds cruel, but if he's going to do something, he should divorce her and start all over again, but make sure she has custodial care and somebody looking after her," Robertson said. The chairman of ...

Perry courts religious voters, calls for defense of Christian values By Cameron Joseph 09/14/11 LYNCHBURG, Va. Republican presidential candidate and Texas Gov. Rick Perry used his speech to a packed audience at the conservative evangelical Liberty University to discuss his own faith and to call for more Christian influence on America. The governor, whose speech at the university was scheduled long before his presidential announcement, is looking to burnish his already-strong evangelical credentials ahead of early primaries in Iowa and South Carolina, two states with heavy numbers of evangelical voters. Perry praised the school, which was founded by the ...

Muslim Group Seeks to Ban Sharia Law in America Posted on September 13, 2011 at 8:11am by Billy Hallowell The debate over Sharia law in America is taking some interesting twists and turns. In Oklahoma, courts are debating whether citizens have the right to ban Sharia law. And in Michigan, a group of Muslims have actually come out in strong opposition to Islamic law in America. In the case of Oklahoma, a 2010 ballot initiative put a stop to considerations of Islamic laws in making state court decisions. The measure, which passed by a 70 percent margin, was challenged by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The group claimed that the initiative was a direct violation of the ...

Force-Fed Multiculturalism The multi-culti never rests, but continues to seek to grind everyone under its weight. A grand failed social experiment continues apace in the Western world. But fortunately at the same time there has been a strong reaction to this of late, and in various parts of the Western world nations are declaring that multiculturalism has been a major failure. See my discussion about this here for example: www.billmuehlenberg.com/2011/02/13/the-death-of-multiculturalism/ Yet nonetheless our government now wants to force feed our kids on it. It wants to extend it even further, and like any statist power that has gone overboard, it wants to bypass parents as it throttles ...

Keller wants to know whether a candidate will place "fealty to the Bible, the Book of Mormon . ...
The Muslim Brotherhood, Genocide, and Obama

The Muslim Brotherhood, Genocide, and Obama By William Sullivan The Muslim Brotherhood has just issued an ultimatum to the Israeli ambassador in Egypt, telling him to "leave Egypt or die." Brotherhood activists have rallied together, emboldened by their rise to prevalence in the political vacuum created by Mubarak's resignation, to show the world that "[r]evolution is stronger than the Zionist attackers," and they go on to say that "the entire Egyptian people are Hamas." Interestingly enough, this statement might remind the reader of the powerful words of John F. Kennedy, when he stood against the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1963, where he ...
Storm lashes pope, pilgrims at youth festival (Roman Catholics defeat Mother Nature in 20 minutes, gays protest)
Post Date: 2011-08-21 18:54:34 by Hondo68
A violent storm lashed Pope Benedict XVI and around one million pilgrims at an open-air service in Madrid, forcing him to cut short his speech and drenching the faithful who had waited for hours in blistering heat. As the heavens opened during World Youth Day celebrations Saturday night, Benedict's skullcap was swept off and an assistant tried to shelter the 84-year-old pontiff with a large white umbrella. The pope, his white hair blown into disarray, gripped a copy of his sodden speech, the pages and his vestments flapping in the wind. A sea of pilgrims, by some reports more than a million, tried to take shelter under large white and yellow umbrellas at the vast esplanade -- the ...

Self-avowed Muslim Marxist Says White House Tied to Muslim Brotherhood Written by Raven Clabough Tarek Fatah a self-described devout Muslim Marxist has issued a strong warning that there is a Muslim Brotherhood influence at the White House. Fatah, a Canadian, delivered this caution back in June at Canadas annual Premier Meeting of the Minds function; however, his announcement was all but ignored. At the conference, Fatah expressed his own viewpoints on mainstream and radical Islam, including the Muslim Brotherhood. He asserted, The religion of Islam is being used as a tool by a fascist force. He then moved on to discuss what he views as the ...
Little-Known U.S. Document Signed by President Adams Proclaims America's Government Is Secular

Little-Known U.S. Document Signed by President Adams Proclaims America's Government Is Secular by Jim Walker A few Christian fundamentalists attempt to convince us to return to the Christianity of early America, yet according to the historian, Robert T. Handy, "No more than 10 percent-- probably less-- of Americans in 1800 were members of congregations." The Founding Fathers, also, rarely practiced Christian orthodoxy. Although they supported the free exercise of any religion, they understood the dangers of religion. Most of them believed in deism and attended Freemasonry lodges. According to John J. Robinson, "Freemasonry had been a powerful force for religious ...
Imposing Shariah Law in London

Imposing Shariah Law in London By JanSuzanne Krasner Imagine one morning waking up, walking out your door, and seeing bright yellow posters plastered on the walls and telephone poles throughout your neighborhood that announce that you are now living in a 'Shariah Controlled Zone.' That is what is actually happening in several boroughs of London and other communities in the UK... and this could realistically happen in US cities within the next few years if we do not take legal precautions against 'Shariah Law' in our states. Some may think that I am an alarmist. After all, how can one believe that we Americans are as vulnerable as those Brits? That can't happen in ...
