Donald Trump, if hes elected, could name former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich to his cabinet, according to a report. NBC News, citing unnamed campaign advisers, reported that Gingrich could be the secretary of state and Giuliani could be named attorney general. Other names considered are retired Lt. Gen Michael Flynn for defense secretary and Reince Priebus, the current RNC chairman, as Trumps chief of staff. Theyre thinking, We need to find that balance between someone who knows how Washington works and someone who shakes things up,' the senior campaign adviser told the broadcaster. Its unclear if Priebus is interested ...
Yes, Gary Johnson Could Make It Into the Debates. Here's How. (A step-by-step guide)

A step-by-step guide to how the Libertarian Party nominee might make it onstage. Brian Cahn/ZUMA Press/Newscom Fifteen percent is the magic number Libertarian presidential candidate and former governor Gary Johnson needs to reach to earn his voice in the 2016 election. By capturing the support of 15 percent of voters in national public opinion polls, Johnson could join the major party's presidential candidates on the primetime debate stage. With both Democratic and Republican presidential candidates disliked at historic levels and a rising share of political independents frustrated with the two major parties, this is the year a third-party candidate like Johnson has a realistic chance ...
These Numbers Say A Third Party Can Win The Presidency
Post Date: 2016-05-16 15:11:12 by Hondo68
You dont need a majority, or even a plurality, of electors to win the presidency. Let me explain. For those who were serious about their Never Trump hashtags (or who would have been if they were on Twitter), its time to start rallying for a third-party candidate for the 2016 election. A third-party candidate isnt just a protest against the system, but a viable chance at sparing the country the disaster that would be a Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton presidency. The Historical Precedent for a Third Party Abraham Lincoln (whose accomplishments seem to be completely unknown to the Republican nominee) would take umbrage with those who say a third party can never win. This ...
Americans havenít gotten a raise in 16 years
Post Date: 2016-04-30 20:03:13 by Justified
Mark Twain is credited with saying figures dont lie, but liars figure. If he were around today Twains quote might go something like this: Figures do lie, and liars figure out how to make people believe them. Granted, not as catchy. But my quote goes a long way toward explaining something that is bothering many political pundits today. President Obama whined last week that hes not getting enough credit for the economy. Democrats are besides themselves wondering why Americans are so angry that they might be willing to elect Donald Trump president when the official unemployment rate is only 5%, oil prices are near their lowest level in a decade and ...

Curing Cancer with Baking Soda: What MDs and Naturopaths Dont Know by Gregory Delaney Wouldnt the delusional physicians and the big pharmacology swindlers be embarrassed to find that cancer could be cured with nothing more complicated than ordinary baking soda? Well, no, they wouldnt be embarrassed because they would be outraged. All of their billions in profits vanishing in a twinkle, would not have these betrayers of Mankind at all happy with such a simple cancer cure. And yet, cancer can be cured with nothing more complicated than ordinary baking soda. And I will explain how. While the greedy physicians and the cancer industry robber barons have been ...
Supermom puts kids to bed
Post Date: 2016-02-09 18:22:47 by Willie Green
An Ontario mom's struggle to get her two-year-old daughter and baby triplets dressed for bed has been seen by millions around the world. Dan Gibson of Cambridge, Ont., took the time-lapse video of mom Corrie trying to dress all four squirming kids. It now has more than 46 million views on their Facebook page, The Baby Gang. Dan says that normally both parents get the job done, but they thought taking a movie of Corrie doing it alone would be fun. The process of wrangling all the kids and getting them into their sleepers took about six minutes, but the time-lapsed version runs about two minutes long. Dan said the response ...
Ben Carson Canít Stop Talking About His Laundry
Post Date: 2016-02-06 09:39:58 by Willie Green
I dont just throw something in the garbage and buy a new suit. Four days after a disappointing fourth-place finish in Iowa, former neurosurgeon Ben Carson is still struggling to defend a perplexing decision to abandon the state Monday night, while the Republican caucuses were still ongoing, to fly home to Florida to rest and do laundry. Well, also you know, I heard people saying, What's wrong with Carson? They have clothes in New Hampshire. He can go and buy some more suits and some more shirts, Carson said during an interview Friday on The View, according to Politico. Well, see, thats not the way I grew up. I grew up to ...
Kansas: Feigned Concern Does Not Justify Traffic Stop
Post Date: 2015-12-16 10:54:46 by Deckard
Kansas Court of Appeals says cops cannot stop cars by pretending to be concerned about the welfare of the driver.Police must not pretend to "help" motorists in order to write a ticket or make an arrest, the state Court of Appeals said Friday. A three-judge panel used the case of Carlos Eduardo Martinez Morales to send a message to law enforcement by affirming a lower court judge's decision to set Morales free.It was around 2:30 in the morning on November 22, 2014 when Reno County Sheriff's Department Deputy Travis Vogt spotted Morales parked on the side of K-96 highway. The lawman's suspicions were aroused because it was a rural area and the car's lights were on. ...
Trump County, USA
Post Date: 2015-12-04 08:31:19 by cranky
Americas most reliable bellwether county has fallen for the wild man from New York. The most accurate pundits in the history of American presidential politics reside far from the Beltway, on a 403-square mile patch of land along the western border of Indiana. At the intersections of U.S. Highways 40 and 41, and off Interstate 70, you find yourself in Vigo County, with its 108,000 residents and its ho-hum county seat, Terre Haute, situated along the Wabash River. Terre Haute is the land of Clabber Girl Baking Powderand its citizens call it the Crossroads of America. Its the place where both Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh and labor leader and Social Democratic Party ...
Have a Happy, Politics-Free Thanksgiving
Post Date: 2015-11-25 12:21:08 by no gnu taxes
Many people naturally assume that since I work in political journalism, I must breathe, drink and eat politics 24/7/365 -- including on the Thanksgiving holiday. The thought of it gives me indigestion. Self-absorbed creatures who have no life outside the Beltway world are the most tiresome ogres. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest advised Americans "sitting around the Thanksgiving table" to talk about gun control. The left-wing National Memo published "5 Things To Tell Your Republican relatives at Thanksgiving." And The New York Times served up its own version of "How to Talk to Your Relatives About Politics at Thanksgiving," stuffed with poll data and ...
The Council on Foreign Relations:What It Will Take to Defeat ISIS
Post Date: 2015-11-20 23:08:29 by A K A Stone
What It Will Take to Defeat ISIS To defeat ISIS, the president needs to dispatch more aircraft, military advisors, and special operations forces, while loosening the restrictions under which they operate. The president also needs to do a better job of mobilizing support from Sunnis in Iraq and Syria, as well as from Turkey, by showing that he is intent on deposing not only ISIS but also the equally murderous Alawite regime in Damascus. Specific steps include: Intensify air strikes. So far, the U.S. bombing campaign against ISIS has been remarkably restrained, as revealed by a comparison with the strikes against the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan after 9/11. When the Taliban lost ...
Letís All Laugh As Liberalism Commits Ritual Suicide On Campus
Post Date: 2015-11-18 15:44:09 by no gnu taxes
Please don't tell the students at University of Missouri and Yale and all the other throbbing pustules of academia to stop their insanity. Instead, encourage and provoke them to turn the turmoil up to 11, a number most of these students cant count to without taking off their Nikes. No, we want the campuses to echo with the whiny cries of the Children of the Safe Space Revolution. And we will sit back and point and laugh as the weak-willed, spineless liberal losers of academia abase themselves before their whimpering student bodies. This is just great. As Napoleon observed, never interrupt your enemy while he's making a mistake. Now, mentioning Napoleon probably a ...
What Must Be Done - Four Ways to Build a Free Society
Post Date: 2015-11-13 17:39:26 by Hondo68
This article is adapted from a talk delivered at this past weekend's Mises Circle event in Phoenix. The topic of our symposium this morning is What Must Be Done, which originally was the title of a talk given by Dr. Hans-Hermann Hoppe at a Mises Institute conference in 1997. Hoppe posed his title as a declarative, but it's also the question we all wrestle with as libertarians in a world so dominated by the state and its apologists. And its a question we hear time and time again at the Mises Institute: What can we do to fight back against government? We all understand the problem, but what is the solution? What can we do in the current environment to help ...
Beating a photo-enforced ticket like a boss

sylvar/Flickr This simple trick may save you hundreds (INTELLIHUB) Dont incriminate yourself by paying expensive photo-enforced radar, speeding, or red light tickets. Learn the ropes. It may save you hundreds in the long run! Dont aid their investigation. Nate Cox with the popular website Cop Block wrote: Last year I received a letter in the mail from the Washington D.C DMV claiming I was speeding. As you can see it was one of those Photo-Enforced Speeding Tickets and they had multiple pictures of my CAR. I knew better to just submit and pay a fine like the majority of people do in this country, unfortunately. I am in the habit of not taking plea ...
9 Phrases Smart People Never Use In Conversation
Post Date: 2015-10-31 20:01:42 by Deckard
Weve all said things that people interpreted much differently than we thought they would. These seemingly benign comments lead to the awful feeling that only comes when youve planted your foot firmly into your mouth. Verbal slip-ups often occur because we say things without knowledge of the subtle implications they carry. Understanding these implications requires social awarenessthe ability to pick up on the emotions and experiences of other people. TalentSmart has tested the emotional intelligence (EQ) of more than a million people and discovered that social awareness is a skill in which many of us are lacking. We lack social awareness because were so focused on ...

Jeb Bush Claims That Creating Encryption Harms America
Post Date: 2015-08-21 08:36:08 by Deckard
from the wanna-try-that-one-again? dept Sometimes you have to wonder if the various political candidates are trying to lose the knowledgeable techie vote. Chris Christie has been strongly pro-surveillance, and it's not hard to guess where he would come down on the whole "backdooring encryption" debate. However, few of the other candidates have been directly asked about that -- though that may be changing. Jeb Bush has now stated that he's against encryption, because, apparently it harms America. If you create encryption, it makes it harder for the American government to do its jobwhile protecting civil libertiesto make sure that evildoers arent in ...
Windows 10 doesnít offer much privacy by default: Hereís how to fix it
Post Date: 2015-08-04 14:43:28 by Tooconservative
Windows 10 shares a lot of personal data with Microsoft, but you can turn most of it off. Windows 10, by default, has permission to report a huge amount of data back to Microsoft. By clicking through "Express Settings" during installation, you allow Windows 10 to gather up your contacts, calendar details, text and touch input, location data, and a whole lot more. The OS then sends it all back to Microsoft so that it can be used for personalisation and targeted ads. This isn't entirely unusual: recent versions of Windows, unless you explicitly say otherwise, have reported some kind of data back to Microsoft. Windows 10 definitely goes one step (well, a few ...
Finnish Politician Openly Opposes Multiculturalism, Govít Goes Nuts
Post Date: 2015-07-28 13:31:35 by nativist nationalist
The Finns Party, which gained ground in the most recent elections, has thrown the Nordic nation into turmoil after one of its MPs openly denounced multiculturalism. A Finnish member of parliament has come under fire for a comment he made over the weekend decrying the nightmare called multiculturalism and rallying his compatriots to fight for one true Finnish nation. The MP, Olli Immonen, is a member of the populist and nationalist Finns Party, which is part of the countrys governing coalition. In a posting on his Facebook page late Friday night, Immonen said he is dreaming of a strong, brave nation that will defeat this nightmare called ...
Balding Gracefully: Tips and Hairstyles for Balding Men
Post Date: 2015-07-20 09:46:23 by Deckard
Youre noticing more hair in your sink and in your shower. But for awhile you ignore it. Then one day youre staring at your ugly mug in the mirror, and theres simply no denying it anymore. Youre starting to go bald. No one has ever referred to mens hair as our crowning glory, but hair loss can still be a big psychological blow to men. For many, its likely the first sign theyre getting old. Baldness is a subtle reminder that ones youthful glory days are slowly slipping away. And it can make a man feel less confident and attractive. Feeling blindsided by their traitorous scalp and missing their old hair, some men can get stuck in ...
Who knows about Kindles? [Full Thread]
Post Date: 2015-05-31 19:11:34 by Chuck_Wagon
Okay. My mom (81 years old) has been a very avid reader ever since the sun burst into flames. So about once a week she goes to, yes, the library. She likes mystery, history and romance. Decades ago I bought her every Agatha Christie novel that I thought she had not read. (I missed on a few - she HAD read them.) Nonetheless - I think - for either her birthday or Christmas - I am going to buy her a Kindle. Being an avid reader as she is - she is the perfect candidate for one. Anyone know anything about these cute little beasties? Any help would be appreciated!

McVeigh defense archive shows bomber viewed blast as failure [Full Thread]
Post Date: 2015-04-19 19:08:11 by buckeroo
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Timothy McVeigh considered the bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building 20 years ago somewhat of a failure, viewed himself as a "Paul Revere-type messenger" and even suggested his defense team should receive $800,000 from the government, according an archive of documents donated by the convicted bomber's lead attorney. The estimated 1 million pages of paper documents from Stephen Jones now fill 550 file cabinet-sized boxes at the Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas, where the Enid, Oklahoma, attorney received his undergraduate degree. The trove, delivered to the school in three phases since 1998, only became fully ...
How do you dismantle a nuclear submarine?
Post Date: 2015-03-30 09:35:25 by Willie Green
Nuclear submarines have long been a favourite in popular fiction. From movies such as The Hunt for Red October to long-running TV series like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, they have always been portrayed as awesome instruments of geopolitical power gliding quietly through the gloomy deep on secret, serious missions. But at the end of their useful lives the subs essentially become floating nuclear hazards, fizzing with lethal, spent nuclear fuel that's extremely hard to get out. Nuclear navies have had to go to extraordinary lengths to cope with their bloated and ageing Cold War fleets of hunter-killer and ballistic missile nuclear subs. As a result, some of the strangest industrial ...
See Inside the Tiny House That Started The Small Space Trend

Tracy Metro visits the tiny house that started the small-space trend.
Poster Comment:Lately I've been watching Tiny House Nation on our cable TV. They come up with some very interesting and clever ways to efficiently utilize very small space. Of course you have to be an extremely well organized neat-freak to avoid it quickly becoming a totally disheveled pig-sty. But it's an interesting contrast to the wasteful McMansions that were built during the housing boom of the '90s.
