This group of conservative professors stood against the leftward drift of the Southern Baptist Convention. And now they are out of a job. Given the crazy things people who dislike Catholicism ascribe to the Church all the time - things with no roots in reality - I am cautious about jumping on the bandwagon to criticize something that sounds to me very much like inside Baptist baseball. The four fired professors took a stand against Critical Race Theory (CRT), which, simply stated, is the teaching of "white privilege". Two other points of contention over their firing were "New Liberalism" and "New Calvinism". New Liberalism is just a repackaging of the Social Justice Warrior Movement for the Baptist church. I won't bore you with "New Calvinism". To: watchman (#2) Correlation does not equal causation. Those four professors took those stances, but were they the only ones at the college who did? Were other teachers also laid off? Judging from the way people misjudge Catholics, whom they don’t like, I have to think that people who don’t like Baptist’s do the same. I don’t understand the Baptist church enough to understand the degree of politics within tge organization, so I’m going to withhold any judgment on the case. I don’t understand the Baptist church enough to understand the degree of politics within tge organization I have the same limited understanding of Catholicism. The thing I am wrestling with at the moment is the recent discovery of the Pope's building shaped like the head of a snake. This snake building takes the need for evaluating the Catholic Church to a whole new level. There's obviously something very extreme going on here. You can't just say, "Oh, the Pope has a building shaped like a snake head...isn't that clever" No. You can't dismiss this as some mere tourist attraction, or some quirky architect's joke. so I’m going to withhold any judgment on the case This firing of the conservative professors is no small matter.
