Deer Antler Velvet...Human growth hormone...anti-aging...how it works...and it's benefits.

Poster Comment:

This product is potentially a life/health Game-Changer. To be clear, Deer Antler Velvet is NOT Human Growth Hormone but a strong facilitator of our own body's production. Before off-handedly dismissing or ignoring the above info, explanation, and benefits -- either because of the subject matter or because the narrator/Channel Poster seems "too young" to take seriously -- I'd suggest an eager, open listening.

This source/person (WoodwardTV) is exceptionally wise and informed at any age. He is not so old that he ignores or can't move beyond past "established" science/history/philosophy etc. This makes someone his age open to newer ideas as well as past established ideas and discoveries that have been dismissed for political/unscrupulous/dis-informational/commercial reasons.

In the distant past I had heard of and considered Deer Antler Velvet. There are many health-related un-traditional elements, supplements and protocols I've tried. Others (like Deer Antler Velvet) seemed to be too fad-ish, unproven or out-there even for me at the time. However the research and testimony of its benefits are now too obvious to ignore or dismiss.

Perhaps if others here are game in trying out this protocol, we can compare notes. The beneficial effects are allegedly to begin almost immediately. With one caveat: Some kind of body "cleanse" must first be undertaken for its effect to be maximized. That is understandable because this is NOT a Silver Bullet, though potentially remarkable.

Health Benefits

Generally researchers agree that velvet antler restores, strengthens and protects normal bodily functions but is not in itself curative. Preliminary results of modern research suggest that deer velvet may have beneficial effects related to:

  • Stimulation of the body’s immune system to assist protection against infection and disease
  • The anti-inflammatory agents it contains that may assist in reducing the pain and inflammation of a variety of degenerative diseases
  • The anabolic or growth stimulating properties it provides
  • The prevention or repair of muscle damage following exercise
  • Its ability to increase muscular strength and endurance
  • Its ability to significantly reduce the damaging side effects of chemotherapy drugs, while at the same time increasing their effectiveness

Specific health benefits shown by western research include:

Anaemia

New Zealand research has shown clear evidence that velvet antler can alleviate experimentally induced anaemia.

Anti-Aging

Research on mice suggests that velvet antler supplements inhibited the activity of some enzymes associated with aging while increasing the synthesis of liver and kidney protein by promoting activity of other specific enzymes.

Reviews report that this research is strong evidence of the anti-aging influence of deer velvet.

Anti-Cancer Activity

Although there does not appear to be any evidence that velvet antler can cure cancers, research has demonstrated that velvet may extracts have some anti-tumor (cytotoxic) effects against some forms of cancer cells.

Anti-Inflammatory Effects

New Zealand research [12] reports that although the mechanism is unknown velvet antler shows strong anti-inflammatory effects.

Blood Pressure Control

Research has shown that extracts of deer velvet have a strong ability to lower blood pressure in people with normal blood pressure and to stabilise abnormal blood pressure. However Suttie et al advises extreme caution of use of velvet by those with extremely high or low blood pressure.

Bone and Joint Health

It is proposed by researchers that therapies used for the treatment of human bone and joint problems should include the use of glycosaminoglycan-peptides, particularly chondroitin sulphate. Several studies have shown the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content of velvet antler and in particular the relatively high level of chondroitin sulphate.

Most research suggests that as velvet antler contains significant quantities of chondroitin sulphate, it is worthy of consideration as a treatment for joint and bone inflammation conditions.

Growth Stimulation

Research has identified various natural hormones (growth factors) in velvet antler including IGF-1 (insulin –like Growth Factor-1) and EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor).

Velvet antler may be a natural source of natural hormones for athletes and others who seek a natural aid to muscle growth and development.

Performance Enhancement

Although the mechanisms are yet to be clearly identified, research and anecdotal evidence suggests that velvet antler has a positive effect on athletic performance. Although not all reports are positive, most indicate that the effect is likely to be either prevention or rapid repair (or both) of muscle damage associated with exercise.

Stimulation of the Immune System

Research in Korea, New Zealand and China has shown that velvet antler can stimulate the immune system. Extracts of velvet antler were variously shown to increase macrophage activity, stimulate the production of lymphocytes and increase the number of red and white blood cells.

Each of these effects may directly complement the body’s ability to resist or fight disease and so promote and maintain health and an associated feeling of well being.

Tonic Effects

The immune stimulation effects shown by research gives support to claims of TCM that velvet antler can have a revitalising effect, especially for people who are immuno-compromised people (those weakened by illness or other stress).

Generally researchers agree

Which researchers? What universities, labs, pharmaceutical companies do they work for?

That sure is a lot of "research" from a lot of countries. So why won't they link us to the studies published in peer-reviewed journals or tell us who conducted the research? Is it even real research at all?

Legit questions, TC.

Did you watch/listen to the video?

IF you peruse the link below, you will find some info and resources that may or may not satisfy your Antler Velvet curiosity. If not, I'm sure there are several answers to your questions online.

Antler Velvet and its allegedly amazing properties aren't just anecdotally effective. There IS international support for its efficacy.

It's intuitively obvious that the usual pharmaceutical companies would not ever sponsor or delve into or spend research on something like this. For obvious reasons. They are the same reasons they wouldn't sponsor Laetrile OR B-17 research. ANY inexpensive solutions for cancer, including supplements or vitamins that might dent their mega-lucrative monopoly on "cures".

The FDA historically has their back on actually preventing legit solutions that threaten the pharm industry or cancer industry. INCLUDING obstructing cancer cures. Everyone knows what the primary function of the FDA is. HINT: It is NOT about "Food" of "Drug Safety."

You can keep repeating that.

I want to know who are these researchers, where do they work, what pharma or universities are involved, where are their peer-reviewed studies?

I think there aren't any.

Can you even produce one peer-reviewed study? Just one.

It's intuitively obvious that the usual pharmaceutical companies would not ever sponsor or delve into or spend research on something like this.

You're distracting from your lack of any supporting studies. Big Pharma would investigate ways to make patentable and expensive medicines from it and get the original banned. Recall how they tried to create synthetic cannabis. But I don't see any of that happening.

This is a lot like the traditional Chinese medicine scams. In fact, it may turn out to be exactly that.

Of course, we know that Big Pharma is out to kill us all but let's just look at what actual proof is offered for the benefits of antler medicine. Keep in mind, most of it produced on deer farms in the US is exported to Asia. The industry is trying to expand its sales here in America, where the big money is. They want a bigger slice of the $30B American supplement market. And none of that messing about with getting FDA approval as a legit trusted drug.

AVMA, representing over 90,000 vets in America.

Controlled trials using non-human animal subjects—Controlled trials with rats indicate velvet antler is non-toxic11,12 and may assist liver function.11 Data from research using mice indicate that velvet antler might assist in the management of adverse reactions to morphine.13 Mikler et al4 found that elk antler extract applied topically improved cutaneous wound healing in diabetic rats. One study found it improved the gait of dogs suffering from osteoarthtosis.2 Recently one author found chronic wasting disease (CWD) prions in the velvet of elk that were affected with the disease.14 CWD is a contagious, fatal prion disease of deer and elk.14 This research suggests that humans who consume antler velvet as a nutritional supplement are at risk for exposure to prions.

Controlled trials using humans subjects—One small-scale study found that deer velvet powder produced improvements in strength and endurance in male physical education students (n=17).1 This is balanced by results from several other studies where velvet antler did not improve muscular performance or reduce post-training pain,3,15 and failed to reduce rheumatoid arthritis symptoms not fully controlled by medication.16 The most recent meta-analysis found that chondroitin, a key component of velvet antler-based products, does not reduce joint pain caused by osteoarthritis.17

So you could catch chronic wasting disease from the prions of such products. I've seen deer dead from this. It's a very ugly death.

I wonder if you understand traditional Chinese and Korean medicine.

Looking elsewhere, I found a fairly sympathetic review of these products and the Chinese approach from a reviewer employed at Specialized Livestock Market Research Group, Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Saskatchewan. She mentions a large number of studies but warns how few of those are human trials that show any positive effect. Nearly all of these studies are small and focus on artificially-aged mice and diabetic rats and such. Very little human testing.
