Title: Almost half of voters think journalists 'make up' anonymous sources

Almost half of U.S. voters believe journalists fabricate their anonymous sources, according to a new poll.

A Morning Consult/Politico survey conducted Mar. 2-6 and published Wednesday asked registered voters if they think it's "likely" that journalists "make up" anonymous sources for their stories.

Most, 56 percent, either said it wasn't likely, or that they didn't know or had no opinion. But nearly half, 44 percent, said they believed it to be "likely."

Republicans, who tend to harbor more distrust of the news media, were more likely to say they believed journalists made up their anonymous sources. Sixty-five percent of GOP voters said they think that's the case, nearly two-thirds.

Among Democrats, just 24 percent said journalists likely made up their unnamed sources and 42 percent of independent voters agreed.

President Trump has maintained a combative relationship with the press. He has called specific stories and news outlets "fake news," and has claimed that "sources" in critical news stories are made up.

"They have no sources," he said in late February at the Conservative Political Action Conference. "They just make them up when there are none."

Almost half of voters think journalists 'make up' anonymous sources.
News Flash:
When fully considering the various fake news and yellow journalism sources that Deckard consistently uses….that figure rapidly increases from almost 50 percent to 98 percent of voters on LF.

Well, but the point was that a lot of Republicans and a fair number of Dims think that supposedly reputable professional journalists at the major papers and networks do actually make up fake news and attribute it to "anonymous sources". The article wasn't actually about readers here at LF.

Duh ...

I thoroughly understood that.

All I did was post my first thought after reading the article.

Nah!

He is only a clown puppet on a string to me.

And I must confess, I do like watch in amazement as the authors of the yellow journalism and fake news pull his strings and make him dance to their tunes.

Amusing….quite amusing he is.

Maybe you're both pulling each others' strings.

Nope!

I am the “stringer” and he is the “string-e.”

I keep him flustered....poking truth back in his face.

On another subject:

I have included thelibertydaily.com/ on my read list since you turned everyone onto it a week or so ago.

I like it much better than Drudge….which I gave up a long time ago.

I find a number of the articles on thelibertydaily.com/ [especially the headlines] are “extreme” far right.

Am I wrong in my observation?

I like it better too. The selection of articles is somewhat better. They are recently getting more edgy and clickbaity about how they retitle their article links which isn't so good. Maybe any Drudge-type site is going to be clickbaitish since that is their entire game. So LD is a little more over the top than Drudge is. OTOH, most days where I've compared, I still like the mix of articles better at Liberty Daily than at Drudge. Probably because they are more rightwing but they seem to stay a little more current day-to-day. Drudge's site isn't what it used to be IMO.
