WASHINGTON — In her first visit to the Capitol since her shocking election loss, Hillary Clinton on Thursday called on Congress to address the “epidemic” of fake news that she said was a danger to the nation. Clinton was speaking at a ceremony to honor retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid when she diverted from her compliments to address “one threat in particular that should concern all Americans.” She called on Congress to stop the “epidemic of malicious fake news and false propaganda that flooded social media over the past year.” One such fake news story had Clinton running a child sex abuse ring out of a pizzeria in Washington, Comet Ping Pong. On Sunday, a 28-year-old North Carolina man, Edgar Welch, traveled to the pizzeria with an AR-15 rifle to “investigate” and fired off his weapon. No one was injured. “It’s now clear that so-called fake news can have real-world consequences,” Clinton said, though not mentioning that particular incident. “This isn’t about politics or partisanship,” she said. “Lives are at risk. Lives of ordinary people just trying to go about their days to do their jobs, contribute to their communities.” Social media sites like Facebook are now looking into labeling fake news stories as hoaxes. False stories were peddled throughout the election through the help a Russian propaganda campaign aimed at hurting Clinton, the Washington Post reported. “It’s a danger that must be addressed and addressed quickly,” Clinton continued. “Bipartisan legislation is making its way through Congress to boost the government’s response to foreign propaganda and Silicon Valley is starting to grapple with the challenge and threat of fake news.” At the start of the speech — her second public event since her defeat — Clinton quipped about the upcoming inauguration. “This is not exactly the speech at the Capitol I’d hoped to be giving after the election, but after a few weeks of taking selfies in the woods, I thought it would be a good idea to come out.” Poster Comment: Gatlin warned us about this, so it must be true? When Gatlin warns about something….it is definitely true. The old credo imparted upon new reporters of “trust but verify” is no longer the norm. The impetus that once was on a cub reporter to provide hard evidence and authoritative confirmation of a story before publishing, a high bar set for journalist, is no longer there. Fake news sites which spin innuendo, rumor and conspiracy into digestible, shareable headlines, has negated that obligation. Not only is it bad that “fake journalist” write the “fake news” bullshit….the great danger is that now there are ignorant assholes who actually spread the “fake news” bullshit wherever they can for whatever agenda reason they have.
Not surprising to see you on the same side as Hillary and The Washington Post.

No, you are wrong. I base my strong dislike on “fake news” because it contains lies and half-truths spread to influence the ignorant and lazy folks. The internet offers the chance to spread information more quickly than ever before and it gives some folks the possibility to change the understanding of the world. The fast moving pace unfortunately makes truth unclear to many individuals who are untrained to challenge presented information to determine facts. You, Deckard, are being duped and you are trying to dupe others when some of the sources you use intentionally make up lies in every article and then link to other similar websites in an effort to backup and give validity to some of the minor points> They do so in an effort to make the entire article to appear will sourced and truthful….when it definitely is not. These websites are unfortunately very popular among those less informed individuals and those individuals who spread the fake news articles and yellow journalism articles for their own person destructive reason. You, Deckard, are one of those who maliciously spreads lies and half-truths acting as a scare monger. A big problem that you capitalize on is that most people do not look into what they read well enough to be able to tell which websites fact-check well, and which are extremely bad sources. The slogan of Infowars is: “There’s a war on for your mind!” I find that to be true with the ignorant and lazy people. What is not pointed out is that the “war in your mind” was one created by Infowars to enable them to put big bucks in their pockets.
