Callum Borchers, author at the Washington Post blog The Fix, admits that the press is declaring victory for Hillary Clinton — to discredit claims that the election is rigged. From the Washington Post:

Since the final presidential debate last week, many news outlets have been delivering an unvarnished message to Donald Trump supporters: Your candidate is virtually certain to lose the election Nov. 8.

“Clinton probably finished off Trump last night,” FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver wrote the day after the debate. “Hillary Clinton is almost certain to be president,” Guardian columnist and former New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson added.

A day later, the Times’s Upshot blog increased Clinton’s chances of winning to 93 percent, an all-time high. On Monday, Politico’s Ben Schreckinger wrote that “Donald Trump’s path to an election night win is almost entirely closed.” Here at The Fix, Chris Cillizza and Aaron Blake wrote that “Donald Trump’s chances of winning are approaching zero.”

These are accurate, statistically sound statements. But they are something else, too. Declarations that Trump is highly unlikely to win also serve as counters to the Republican nominee’s warning that the “rigged” election could be “stolen from us.”

When President Trump wins, he should be sure to install Supreme Court justices that will overturn Sullivan. Bring the press back under the libel laws, where they belong.

Comparing the usual rally attendance for both candidates, along with the facebook likes, youtube subscriptions, twitter follows and various social media statistics, it's hard to see how Clinton has any chance. Trump is blowing Clinton away in these arenas.

Though I suppose it could be a case of Trump having lots of enthusiasm among a minority number of voters (and Clinton having enthusiasm with only a tiny fraction of them), while among the majority "ho-hum" sleepy type voters, Clinton enjoys enough of a majority to slightly more than make up the difference. That's about the only way the numbers could make sense, assuming the MSM polls are reasonably honest, which certainly have good reason to doubt.

There could be the dubbed "Monster vote" coming into play, in which a lot of historic non-voters come in and vote Trump which the MSM could easily be failing to take into account. If Trump does win, it will be very funny to see how the MSM responds. Reminds me of the prospective Nov 9 NYT headline I saw satired a long time ago: "What in the F***ing F**k!"

Riiiight. Don't bother to go to the polls and vote for Trump. He's already lost.

It's put up or shut up time for the leftist media. If they don't help Hitlery get elected, then they are toast. Trump will come after them if elected. They know that, know they won't have access to a President Trump and they will all lose their ratings, stocks for the corporations that own them will go down and new media outlets will flourish.

They know this, so they have to go all in to help her. Even if she wins by only 1% of the popular vote and the leftist media polls had her at 7-12%, they win. They win because they helped her win and were on her side campaigning against Trump. No one in the Hitlery demoncrat circles will care the WP had inflated numbers. They will have access to a President HRC.

If they lose they lose it all IMO. The polls will be proven wrong which damages their reputation, but Trump is going to hammer them out of existence anyway.

Put up or shut up for the leftist media. The situation is very black and white for them. They have no choice.

Excellent commentary. If Trump wins it will be as you noted above. He will not win the traditional GOP way. That way was destroyed by Bush and Obama hammered in the last two nails with his victories.

Sad that the GOPe does not see this or refuses to believe the truth. If a Repub is going to win again the WH, it will have to muster non-traditional GOP votes.

If a Repub is going to win again the WH, it will have to muster non-traditional GOP votes.

That's right. Trump will win. He'll do it with non-GOP votes. And then - and this is the part that the GOP has never done before - he will actually CHANGE THE IDEOLOGY OF THE PARTY to REFLECT the voters who put him in.

The GOP will no longer be a free trade party. There will be Republicans who are, just as there used to be pro-life Democrats for awhile. But the Republican Party will be opposed to TPP, will renegotiate or tear up NAFTA, will be protectionist.

Likewise, the GOP will no longer be a cold-war-with-Russia party.

Nor will it be a connive-at-amnesty-because-big-donors-Want-it party.

It will not be Romney's party, or the Bushes, or Ryans. They resisted Trump very hard, tried to undermine him. Romney will be driven out the GOP by Trump. He tried to unify the Republicans to drive out Trump, saying there was no room in the GOP for Trump and the Trumpkins. Romney lost, and when Trump is President, the GOP will have no room for Romney and his type.

Ryan will not be Speaker: Trump will oppose him.

And the Bushes? They will submit to Trump - that's who they are. They will kiss the new godfather's ring just like HW Bush kissed Reagan's ass.

It will be hard for big money to take the back of the bus and shut up, but where do they have to go? Hillary? But she will have lost. Her loss will shatter the Democrat party. They have no young blood. Wall Street and Hollywood, Silicon Valley and Goldman Sachs all threw in viciously for Hillary.

There is NO REASON for Trump to protect those particular industries from regulation and taxation - none. Employment means MANUFACTURING, not finance. The financial industry supports the Democrats. Tax it. Regulate it. Put watchdogs on THOSE rich people - restrain THEIR economic flows.

Unfetter manufacturing. Shut out the Chinese. Get Americans by the millions back in American factories. People will accept the higher prices for goods if they have good steady jobs. That's the way to address it.

Trump will be the Silverback Gorilla that tears apart the GOP and installs new people. It will be a populist, nationalist, labor-oriented, peace-with- Russia oriented party. And the old-line Republicans who resisted him and don't accept that can go fuck themselves and form a third party around Romney and Ryan.

The age of small-minded businessmen running the Republican Party and selling the farm to China for profit is over.
