SAVANNAH, Ga. — Tybee Island Police appear to be the target of some kind of dark magic after someone left a mutilated lizard carcass and doll outside their headquarters. Lieutenant Emory Randolph found a voodoo doll with its head ripped off and a dead, mutilated lizard outside the police station early Friday morning. Police said surveillance reveals someone left it there on Wednesday. "To me it makes me feel like we probably struck a nerve with someone when they are trying to send spiritual forces against us," said Randolph. Police said they don't know of any voodoo communities on the island, but they want to know who put together the bizarre exhibit. "I definitely think there is a pretty dark message involved that somebody is trying to direct at the police department," explained Randolph. "To have the head pulled off the doll -- it's obviously not a sign of a friendly gesture." "Of course, you know, we're not disturbed by it. We're not afraid, we're going to continue to do our duties just like it's every other day," said Randolph. "If we do something to upset the public, we ask that they come and have a dialogue with us and not leave animal sacrifices outside the police department," said Randolph. Randolph said, even if they don't press charges, they want to know who's responsible and who could be a threat to officers.
Tybee police want people to come to them with problems rather then leaving threatening messages just feet from their door.
Right now officers are reviewing surveillance footage from multiple angles to identify the person responsible. They said they don't have a good image of the person from the video. Police said they don't know yet what charges the person responsible could face. They said right now the most obvious one would be littering.
