Why is it, "a wonderful surprise?"

It's a wonderful surprise for two reasons.

First, the polls indicated that Remain would win.

Second, there are so many trillions at stake that I assumed that the Remain forces would successfully rig the vote to ensure they got the result they wanted.

So, seeing the Leave vote apparently surging, and seeing that it's actually apparently going to happen, it's wonderful.

It's wonderful because so many other nations are chafing at the EU bit as well. France, Holland, Denmark, Sweden - their people all want to go. With England out, it will be very easy for France to do the same now.

The EU could have been a grand thing. But it didn't live up to it promise. It became dominated by a narrow, strangling financial interest and lost the support of its people.

But really, when the Germans simply opened up their borders, without consultation with their neighbors (with whom they have the open borders pact) and let in millions of Muslims, they effectively fed rat poison to the EU project.

BREXIT means that the "yob" vote, the nationalist vote, wins. And that is a very good sign for Donald Trump too.

Somehow, I expected a Trumperette waving their POM-POMs to swing on by this thread wildly waving their legs aloft giving prognostications for Trump. Good GOD, man, have you no dignity?

Sure, I've got dignity. But we're talking power here and the future, and I'm keenly interested in seeing my views win.

With Brexit, I have a surprise, smashing victory for my beliefs. Free immigration of French people into England, or English into French, or Dutch and Irish and Danes, all that - nobody cares about that. But free immigration of every Muslim who happens to get an immigration card from some dithering government on the periphery? NO! Just like the Mexican Border. NO, dammit - we have the right to determine who gets to be here.

You are confused about international agreements such as in the integration of free passage between member countries and a single currency in the EU, as opposed to separate nations that share a common border such as the US & Mexico with the Clinton NAFTA agreement which is a completely DIFFERENT approach to the respective neighborhood.

GEESH, Trumperettes trully are silly POM POM girlz!

I'm not confused about anything, buckeroo.

Apparently, neither are the British people. They've been in the EU for a long time, and they've had their fill of it. Now they are leaving, reasserting their sovereignty, and charting their own course for the future.

And immigration into their country at rates beyond which they were willing to tolerate was a core factor in their decision.

America faces the same issue. The political classes and the economic classes view broad immigration as good for the country - as defined by their interests. But the broad back of the people do not. Because the political and economic classes refuse to listen and will not yield, they will have to be broken. By Trump.

The issue is the same on both sides of the sea.

It is why a Frexit will be on the cards next. The French are well and truly sick of it also, and they will be voting with their feet. The English example gives them an incredible boost in hope.

Rule Britannia, Britannia rule your own land again. God save the Queen.

and to add to that the price of oil is coming down.

At least that and more. I don't like Trump but I can't stand Hillary or anything DRat. If I could I would piss on all of the Millennials. Unfortunately it seems that both Hillary and the Millennials will win and they will piss on me. OZ isn't immune to this. If your society hasn't yet started to change it will - kind of as in On The Beach, it's inevitable.

I think we are beyond On the Beach. That movie created a wrong idea of our society and has no relevance today. We find the millenials here a shiftless lot, probably due to lack of opportunity, if you don't have skills in this society, you don't go far. They cannot be expected to exhibit any political view unless rabble roused on Facebook or Twitter. Anyway we will euthanase ourselves because some twit in the UK or US made a mess

We find the millenials here a shiftless lot,

As those of us that are not millennials or are not trying to sell then something do. You kid yourself if you think the millennial mindset is not impacting your society. The following is some light reading selected to expand you understanding of your ouwn society:

Millennial Survey 2016

How to connect with the Millennial Generation

And this one is especially for you.

Show me a baby boomer who thinks Australian millennials are a bunch of self-interested slackers and I’ll show you Jennifer Rayner’s Generation Less. Gina Rushton is a millennial, and a journalist on The Australian. Generation Less: How Australia is Cheating the Young, By Jennifer Rayner. She clearly sees things quite differently as you - in fact she claims that you are dead wrong in your characterization of OZ's Millenial generation and in fact blames you for their sense of hopelessly.

"Older Australians frequently haul out this tired trope of the millennial as a self-indulgent product of the proliferation of identity politics: a crude device-dependent caricature believing he or she is a special snowflake who deserves to float through the workforce and property market without sacrifice, patience and the expenditure of elbow grease. But Rayner’s palpable frustration is fuelled by the understanding that her cohort is precisely the same as its forebears: “There’s nothing exceptional about today’s younger workers”; they are not “looking for a special leg-up”, just a raft of policies to better target the new barriers they face.

Home ownership — a dream I gave up as soon as I entered the rental market — obviously takes up a large chunk of the essay. Rayner doesn’t begrudge homeowners and insists they haven’t intentionally shut the door to the property market behind them. But she understands why her peers have given up on the Australian dream. Sacrifice doesn’t get you as much as it used to: “Years of scrimping to buy a draughty weatherboard or a house-and-land package an hour from the city just isn’t worth it.

One aspect that filled me with a peculiar smugness was the acknowledgment that our parents are beneficiaries of some of the things they like to tell you they “didn’t have in their day”, when in fact they directly benefit from globalisation and the rise of technology right here and right now. It is still their day."

One last piece of info for you. Globally by 2020, Millennials Will Comprise Half the Global Workforce. Does OZ have a social security system?

We can thank globalisation and the free trade agenda of the US for any hopelessness. Oz has a social welfare system and a lot of the millenials depend on it. As to scrimping for a weatherboard house, you are projecting your circumstances on us, the millenials will expect no less than a macmansion and they will travel to own one, or else they will buy a fancy townhouse close in. Anyway it doesn't matter those cities will become anzakistan by then and all us aussies will have migrated to Queensland or Tasmania, you see those migrants love those crappy weatherboard whiteant ridden shacks, they knock them down and build mediterrian villa with lots of stair cases and collumns

pretty much. G.H.W. Bush wanted the NWO and to make the US the policeman of the world and the outworking of that has been wars and problems and the US is still trying to live up to it
