But in their food safety meeting today, Chipotle has reportedly identified the culprit in its other norovirus outbreak: sick Chipotle employees.

CNBC just reported the update from inside the nationwide restaurant meeting that shutdown all Chipotle’s simultaneously today.

[...]

there isn’t much mysterious about the spread of norovirus: It spreads from either person-to-person or from something (food, a countertop) that a sick person has touched. In other words, there was never really much real puzzlement on this subject. The root cause of the norovirus outbreak is almost always traced by the CDC back to sick employees.

The bigger question for norovirus is then not what caused it but how to stop it—and the best way to do that is to let sick employees have the chance to stay home, without losing out on their paycheck.

Until now, Chipotle employees only get two days of paid sick leave—not much time to get over a bout of stomach flu. Chipotle’s new guidelines say paid sick leave is now being expanded—though by how much isn’t specified. Employees at the meeting were reportedly told to watch out especially for “nausea, vomiting, explosive diarrhea, yellowing of the skin and eyes and dark urine,” any and all of which sound like excellent cause for several sick days.

This is against the rules of Free Market and damages profits of the Job Creators.

Plagues are natural Free Market thing, they spread unregulated and let the fittest survive.

Not every plague can be eradicated by washing hands.

Either way, Job Creators should not accommodate whims of the working parasites. The later should rather die on the job and infect hundreds. Socialism will not pass!

BTW, epidemics are good in the Free Market way. They cull the weak and inferior.

All of these employees in all of these locations all of a sudden had outbreaks that only struck Chipotle stores because of sick employees. No Taco Bells or Jack in the Boxes or McDonalds were affected. Sure, Uh huh.

Chipotle's Food Poisoning Issue Is Nationwide. Here's A Map.
People keep eating at Chipotle, people keep getting sick.

Huffington Post 12/10/2015

At least 120 Boston College students who ate at a local Chipotle last weekend have been sickened in an outbreak of the highly contagious norovirus, the most common cause of food-related disease outbreaks in the U.S.

It was already a tough year for the fast-casual burrito chain. At last count, 52 people across nine states have also been sickened by a separate Chipotle-connected outbreak of E. coli. This illness, distinct from norovirus, is caused by consuming food contaminated with E. coli bacteria, leading to symptoms that include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, according to the Mayo Clinic.

In addition to the E. coli and Boston norovirus outbreaks, Chipotle is facing lawsuits from a previous norovirus infection in California and a salmonella outbreak in Minnesota in August that affected at least 64 people...

Correct. Letting workers to call sick is a Communist superstition. Must be Commie sabotage.

Certainly, Chipotle has a well-defined problem.

If it was only local virus outbreaks, there would be outbreaks tied to the other franchise chains and other retailers.

No what makes sense is a problem in food processing

Food processing or food handling procedures. Either way, those are systemic issues and Chipotle will almost certainly end up with big lawsuits, especially if people in fragile health die from Chipotle-related illness. There could be criminal liability for Chipotle execs as well.

Chipotle's legal team and executives have strong incentive to try to blame something, anything really, other than their own food handling and food processing. The more they can deflect the blame onto the employees, the less likely they get hit with massive punitive damages in civil lawsuits.

Obviously, you have a sick leave agenda. So if the problem is that Chipotle only allows two sick days per year, how about the other fast food retailers (and other local restaurants)? Do they all have much more generous sick leave policies? Not that I've heard about.

CSMonitor: McDonald's wage hike comes with something more: paid time off (+video) 4/2/2015

McD's is offering some paid sick leave, even for part-timers. Apparently, this will happen only at corporate-owned franchises, not at franchisee restaurants. They mention that Jerry Brown in CA signed a bill into law requiring at least 3 days sick leave per year for all businesses.

So did the three sick days for 2016 in CA help the CA Chipotles? I don't see it.

I was thinking food irradiation ;especially if you are going to go the organic route.

Yes this is not about GMO . The OP was about how terrible the company is because they are retraining their employees about basic santiary practices in a food service environment .

What nonsense !

I hold GMP trainings multiple times a year as a standard practice. The truth is that the company is responsible to make sure that their customers are not subject to food borne illness due to poor handling practices. So no ;I don't take them to task for having extra training .

It is interesting that these outbreaks of "rare" e-coli happened only to the one food chain that said they were ditching GMO's. And anyone that thinks that Monsanto wouldn't resort to deliberately poisoning people to further their interest in GMO's hasn't been paying much attention.

Natural News ANALYSIS: Chipotle is a victim of corporate sabotage... biotech industry food terrorists are planting e.coli in retaliation for restaurant's anti-GMO menu

NaturalNews) After observing recent events involving Chipotle and e.coli, here's my analysis of the situation: Chipotle's e.coli outbreaks are not random chance. They are the result of the biotech industry unleashing bioterrorism attacks against the only fast food company that has publicly denounced GMOs.

http://www.naturalnews.com/052405_Chipotle_ecoli_outbreak_corporate_sabotage_biotech_bioterrorism.html

Lots of people think Natural News is FOS. But I KNOW Monsanto is.

Snopes: Claim: Chipotle's 2015 outbreaks of foodborne illness were the work of pro-GMO bioterrorists http://www.snopes.com/chipotle-gmo-bioterror/

Also, the e-coli was supposed to be a "rare strain". So rare, it infected only customers of Chipotle, and in various areas.

(CNN)—The CDC is investigating five new cases of a rare strain of E. coli linked to Chipotle Mexican Grill, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday. Three of the ill individuals ate at a location in Oklahoma and two ate at a Kansas location. http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/21/health/new-type-of-e-coli-in-chipotle-outbreak/
