This is an open thread to provide a 'safe zone' for those who don't feel safe posting here at LF. Apparently there are progressives and Muslims who feel unsafe on university campuses because other students want moments of silence for 9/11. This is a spot where the forces of Dhimmitude can come and be safe from any potential violent thoughts or moments of silence which may offend Muslims. I can't ensure the mental safety of those that come here, but liberals believe if you just say something is so, it must be so, so this must be a safe zone. Isn't it? I also received a warning by the mods that someone reported my post where I said: "Liberalism is a masochistic mental disorder." Apparently that was frowned upon:) So I asked the mods if I could replace the comment with "Liberalism is compatible with Dhimmitude." Waiting back for a response. But some of those youngsters over at Christian Forums were shocked and appalled people actually challenges their shallow assertions. "I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. For great is Your mercy toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol." Psalm 86:12-13

You shouldn't "surf" the internet using your local IP addy without protections. Obviously, you don't know this POV so let me help you: use TOR to protect yourself; the browser masks your IP while guarding against "popups." Not a lot of folks know this little Inet secret; it also allows for capability to use a large number of tools to tweak certain attributes about those that do not understand "how things work" ...

You are welcome. You can ask "AKA Stone" about how many IP addys I have at my disposal; he likes to track my methods in pursuit of a hobby; to be honest, the number of IPs that I have used @LF numbers into the tens of thousands of unique IPs and not just using TOR alone. Of course, the goal is simple: the Inet is a publick connection; for those of us that enjoy anonymity, we discard the use of commericial identification methods.

TOR permits you to surf the Internet anonymously. It is one approach and there are many others, too. Basically, as a user, the local application connects your local IP to the TOR network (entrance) and provides a different IP on your destintation IP (exit) to your destination. You can goto https://www.torproject.org/ to download the stuff and learn more.

Using TOR will take you to all locations around the world; you might land in Russia, Texas, Uganda, Taiwan ... even, right around the block from where you live. I do not recommend the use of TOR if you are on a dial up connection as you will be very s-l-o-w in connections. TOR adds many Inet hops to your otherwise Internet connection from/to your ISP. I have used TOR for over a decade; it works just fine without intrusion that many are intimidated about.
You might check out AdBlock Plus. It is available for Android, Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Maxthon, Opera, Safari and Yandex. Because it is a public domain work, there are imitators based on the same source code. I recommend you use only the real one. AdBlock Plus is kind of a resource hog due to how it blocks ads. There is another blocker by a blocking wizard who made a much faster and lightweight version. After 7-8 years of using AdBlock Plus, I finally switched to uBlock Origin, another free browser extension that uses the same blacklists to block ads and popups as AdBlock Plus does. There is another project called just uBlock. I use the secret elite adblocker, uBlock Origin. uBlock Origin :: Add-ons for Firefox uBlock Origin - Chrome Web Store AdBlock Plus is by far the most common and best supported. But it is a resource hog. And all these different adblocker extensions seem to use the same exact lists in the same format. They check for updates every few days. BTW, if your only problem at that site was the popups, there is a setting in preferences/settings in all the major modern web browsers to disable popups or to force them to open in a new tab.
This makes you appear to be a different IP every time. If you visit a site with limited read per month, you look like a new person at every visit. Also, it is recommended to use in window mode, not full screen, for max protection.
I've never heard that advice before.
Here is a way to test your capability to withstand popups: goto https:genvideos.com. Tell me what happens as you look for a good movie to watch. Select different movies until you find one worthy of your tyme. Also, try the movie of your choice @1080 resolution.

I don't visit dodgy websites. But I checked it out. Of course, I have popups disabled in Firefox. And Javascript is not allowed to run. So very little would happen until I allowed Javascript to run on GenVideos. I did grab a 720p copy of San Andreas (1.4GB), just to check the quality of it. Most of those sites use upscaled video or really crappy encodes.

I think a few signed up or tried to but were having problems with pop ups. I did not. I think they allow pop ups at that site for those who do not sign up.
