According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 12 Islamic State militants were killed Thursday in Russia’s first airstrikes carried out in the group's de facto capital in Syria.

We could only wish that Obomber were smart enough to learn from this, but no way in hell is that dummy going to bomb non-Christians or non-whites while praying.

Raqqa should be leveled by carpet bombing. Its communications and cell towers should be destroyed.

Every oil facility held by ISIS should be bombed.

Every front man for ISIS in oil and antiquities should be killed or arrested and sent to Iraq or Syria for trial.

At any rate, a strike on Raqqa will silence the whining here in the States that Russia isn't striking ISIS. They just need to do much more of it.

They should burn Raqqa to the ground without regard to civilian presence. It is the only message that ISIS and its Syrian civilian collaborators will understand. Unfortunately, Russia hasn't sent any of its big old Fifties-style turboprop bombers to Syria yet. Hopefully, they will soon.

They would not even need to base them in Syria, the Tu-95's could operate from their existing bases in Russia.

Conceivably, yes. They don't have the range of our B-52s but it could be done.

I think Greece would cut off air access if they did and it resulted in very many civilian casualties in Syria. So, if they started, they would have to be very sure that they could use the southern route to northern Iraq and then fly into Syria. Well, unless they decided they should just base the Tu-95's at a few of those really nice modern airbases that America built in Iraq.     : )

I expect to see neocons choking to death in fury on national TV if something like that happened. Yet, it does make sense for the new Russian/Iranian/Iraqi/Syrian alliance, perhaps after they route the al-Nusra (al-Qaeda) rebels and their FSA front men, as part of the final push to exterminate ISIS.

That is linked to WikiMedia. If you click, you can see the full photo on their site. This was a photo of a Tu-95 off Scotland in 2014. Notice the repair problems and lack of decent paint on the tail. So the Tu-95s need some work perhaps.

Saratov to Raqqa is 1400 nm, so well within the combat radius of the Tu-95. Of course they could just use the Il-76 to airdrop the FOAB's on them, and perhaps operate out of Iraq or Cypress. Using Iraqi airbases would be funny, I'd love to see the reaction of McCain and the neocon gang to that one.

Cypress would be more secure, the RAF has an airbase, but they were of no use when Turkey grabbed the northern 2/5th of the island in 1974. And same religion as Russia to boot. Seeing the FOAB in use would make for some good videos.

All of which can only be done by Putin and Russia.

The US would never survive the strategic exposure to indiscriminate bombing.
