Gov. Haslam says Navy will decide to charge sailor in Chattanooga shooting at Abdulazeez By Steven Myerson August 4, 2015 Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam have informed that even though it is the U.S. Navy’s call whether to charge Lt. Cmdr. Tim White for shooting his own handgun towards the gunman who attacked two military sites in Chattanooga dated July 16, he thinks many of the citizens of America are not going to have hard feelings about him for using his personal weapon. Based on the information provided by the Navy, despite weekend rumors that charges were imminent, Tim White was not charged for bringing down the gunman, Abdulazeez. Current Department of Defense regulations outlawed most of the service members from carrying arms on U.S. soil, counting the maximum personnel at reserve and recruiting centers like the ones targeted here. But the actions of Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White are currently being criticized, according to a series of tweets posted by the Democratic presidential contender Webb. He is an ex-Marine infantry officer and currently the U.S. senator. The attack raised the question on national and state policies regarding the possession of arms by officers on federal and state military sites to the forefront of the national discussion. A lot of the legislators and politicians are voting for all military personnel to be armed. The shooting took the lives of four marines and wounded a Navy specialist by the gunman. A senior defense official reported to the Fox News on Monday morning that it is highly improbable that White would get indicted for shooting down a gunman who was firing at them. Nevertheless, a proper investigation needs to be conducted in the Chattanooga shooting. According to a Navy Times report, White was with one of the Marines who died in the attack on the Chattanooga military centers when they fired their weapons. White began shooting with his sidearm at the shooter Mohammed Abdulazeez during the attack, referring to multiple military officials acquainted with internal reports. The Washington Post were the first to reveal that a Marine had used his personal weapon during the shooting. Details regarding the use of the type of weapon White fired is still unclear. Reports say that it is not clear who fired the shots that eventually slayed Abdulazeez.
