Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevins speech sure sounded like an acceptance speech, in spite of the slim margin of victory and the recanvass that will follow. He thanked his supporters, staff, wife and nine children as well as his running mate. He was proud to point out that he and Jenean Hampton grew up poor and said their rise to this election is what Kentucky is all about.

KSOS, Allison Lundergan Grimes extended the deadline for absentee ballots to --- Rats are trying to steal this election!
Did the authorities ever determine whether he was involved in the fire that burned down his business before he carpetbagged his way into Kentucky politics?
Conway is a strong opponent but not unbeatable, as Rand Paul demonstrated.
No one knows yet if Grimes or Conway will sign up to try to take Rand Paul's Senate seat. That might affect Bevin's chances at winning political office in 2016.
Dems still have a huge voter registration advantage in Kentucky, close to 2:1. They have dominated state offices for decades with the usual results.
Notably, KY has a serious pension crisis coming to head sooner than later.
Because of people like Vicki Cunigan and the politicians who pander to their unions.
Meet Vicki Cunigan. Her daddy was a Kentucky state employee. Her mom was a Kentucky state employee. Her husband was a Kentucky state employee. She was a Kentucky state employee. And every one of them is enjoying a killer pension that is, indeed, killing the state budget.
She retired 10 years ago at age 50, after just 27 years on the job, to a lifetime pension of $40,000 a year, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. But the state pension fund that pays her is going belly up. It is only 21% funded. This puts her $40,000-a-year lifetime pension in jeopardy.
"I'm angry and frustrated," she told the Herald-Leader.
Yes, I see.
KY is a Red state at the federal level, especially Senate and WH. But it is a Blue state in state elections with a very strong Dem party machine.
Bevin does have some chance if he can pull a Scott Walker and turn this crisis which threatens to explode state taxes back on the Dems. Bevin, however, hasn't been the most savvy pol.
I was at a Vegas gala for Duncan Hunter...years ago of course. Have a picture of the two of us. He had the personality of flat bread. LOL I still supported him because of his stand on the issues.
Seeing this, the ptb in the RNC gushed all over me and tried to get me to join. I was polite but declined. The RNC here is much like it's reps in other states, they are party over principle types.
