The 16-year-old Baltimore teen who received the "slap heard round the world" from his mom for participating in Mondays riots admits hes embarrassed.
"I understand how much my mama really cares about me, Michael Singleton said in an interview with ABC World News Tonight. "I just got to try to do better."
Toya Graham, a single mother of six, was praised as mom of the year for he actions, which were caught on camera by ABC 2 News.
"As long as I have a breath in my body, you will not be on the streets selling drugs, Graham told ABC. Youre just not going to live like that. Not with me.
"She didn't want me to get in trouble [with the] law, Michael acknowledged to CNN. "She didn't want me to be like another Freddie Gray."
How desperate we are for heros in the black community. This woman is done nothing more than any mother should do.
Exactly the underscored message. Except that the other obvious message remains: "WHERE IS THE FATHER??" )
So...NO FATHER to speak of; 6 kids. One son (supposedly) caught about to riot. A mother (who supposedly) caught her son about to be a lawless thug (had he thugged before this??)
Notice how the unemployed Miss Tonya was all coiffed, sporting the long false eyelashes, dressed in parakeet yellow, just happened to come across her son...AS the CNN/ABC camera were rolling?? And no body stopped what could easily be construed as...assault.
This coincidence...and supposed so-called "heroism" stinks.

You may or may not be right about her past. However, she's trying to save her son NOw. Polishing stones?

Well, "saving her son" is how this narrative is going down. Who can't not love this story?? It resonates with anyone will a heart and hope for the "unpolished stones." Who could be against that??
The mom is scheduled to be on Oprah...and I'm sure down the line this coincidental one-in-a-million event will make a great movie...
That said, you'll have to pardon my healthy cynicism, Gary. Seems to me that leading up to the very moment the mom "caught" her masked son (dressed in commando black but recognized by "eye-contact"), were she NOT at exactly THE right place at THE right time, the son (along with his like-minded friends would have done what he'd planned: LOOT, PLUNDER,DESTROY. Truth is, this kids was already tracking badly.
I would LIKE to believe this highly unlikely coincidence (covered on-the-spot by both CNN and ABC affiliate cameras) was real. I believe in miracles too. Just not this one.
