To: Liberator (#41) What happened was I received a Buck Sgt (E4) from an overseas assignment. It's customary to go thru someone's records when they arrive to see what they know or don't know. Anyway not very many items were checked off in his training records, not near enough commensurate with his rank. (I had E2s with more items signed off in their records). So to me this meant he was going to need at least 1 or 2 years of OJT (On the Job Training) to get him up to speed, under someone's supervision. Well needless to say he didn't like that and went running to Social Actions about how I was discriminating against him (by not making him a Supervisor/Reporting Official). So instead of SA coming down to the shop with my 1stSgt and investigating quietly the allegations, they went for this gusto and set up this big hearing with a bunch of big wigs involved. When I walked in the door with the 1stSgt it looked like I was in court, (about 7 people of higher rank than me were sitting behind a long table) I almost laughed at this little attempt at intimidation. (Oh BTW me and the 1stSgt were the only whites there). Anyway they asked me if I knew why I was there and I said yes but I didn't understand why they hadn't contacted me or the squadron to quietly investigate the allegations before this little show trial. (That got a lot of frowns). So I proceeded to prove why I had done what I did with him, and that drew a whole lot more frowns (they knew they had nothing and that the E4 had lied). After I was done the Shirt was pissed over the whole thing and said to them "We're done here, if you have something relevant to add you know my phone number". On the way out the door I said "BTW do you have any white people working here"? (If looks could melt or kill I wouldn't be here today).
