WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS IMAGES AND LANGUAGE THAT MAY OFFEND SOME VIEWERS.

VIDEO

When one man sat down next to a second man in a St. Louis light rail car late Monday and asked him his opinion on the shooting of Michael Brown, it was not the beginning of a discussion.

It was the start of an assault, police said.

The second man, who was white, didn’t want to answer the question. Then the first man, who was black, boxed him in the face. Two more African-American men joined in the beating, according to a police report.

It was caught on surveillance cameras on the MetroLink train and a passenger recorded it with a cell phone and posted the video online. It has gone viral.

Police confirmed to CNN affiliate KMOV that the online images came from Monday’s attack.

Late commute

The victim, 43, was commuting home when a young man in a red T-shirt and cap walked up to him. The victim asked not to be named in media reports.

The man asked to use the victim’s cell phone. He declined, and the young man sat down beside him.

“Then he asked me my opinion on the Michael Brown thing,” the victim told KMOV, “and I responded I was too tired to think about it right now.”

The suspect, in his twenties, stood up.

“The next thing I know, he sucker punches me right in the middle of my face,” the victim said. The video showed the suspect unleashing a barrage of punches at the head of the victim, who covered himself with his hand and forearms.

The two other men, also in their twenties, joined in, police said. As the train pulled into a station, a security guard saw part of the beating and alerted police.

The man in the red T-shirt could be seen on video kicking at the victim’s face before the train’s doors opened and the assailants ran out.

Faces on camera

The train’s surveillance cameras captured clear images of their faces, which MetroLink passed on to journalists. Police are looking for the three men.

They face possible charges of third-degree assault, police said. It is a misdemeanor under Missouri law.

The victim was left with bruises on his face and forehead, police said. The first punch dug the frame of his eyeglasses into the skin of his nose, the victim said. He declined to receive medical treatment.

But then there was the emotional pain. On the video, people could be heard laughing while the man was beaten.

“I think it was disgusting that people were sort of laughing and smiling about it,” the victim said. “And no one offered to help. No one seemed to call 911.”

Condemnation of the beating has spread across social media, including from people who protested the shooting of Brown last year by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. The officer was not indicted in Brown’s death. St. Louis alderman Antonio French, a vocal community leader in the aftermath of Ferguson, tweeted his disappointment in the beating.

“Mike Brown question sparks MetroLink beating caught on video,” he wrote. “This is disgusting. We have a major problem, STL.”

Maybe you can go downtown; meet with them and pray for them and change their ways?

I could; And at the same time I could also pray that you suddenly had the capability to understand the concept of Free Will and realm of the Supernatural.

Aren't Jehovah Witnesses considered "Christian" like you?

At your age and degree of "knowledge," it'd behoove you to study up on the difference between faiths claiming to be "Christian," and those which veer into cultist status. All deception is contingent upon the perception and subtle subversion of truth.

I understand that when that wall of resentment and hatred of God goes up, it's kind of difficult to care one way or another. THAT is on YOU, Bucky.

Again, where is the supporting evidence [of the Bible]?

And once again, the "proof" has been jam-packed into witness after witness in the Bible and Gospels, citing the same events, places, and people.

But you...regard it all as "myth"?

In *your* opinion, is Plato "myth"? The Greek Empire? Caesar? Nero? Pontius Pilate? The Roman Empire? Alexander the Great? Charlemagne? At exactly WHAT point should any history NOT be regarded as myth? 100 B.C.? 500 A.D.? 1787 A.D.? Exactly WHEN?? And whom shall be the arbiter of "history"? Atheists and agnostics?

n my opinion that elevates it to second degree assault -- a felony -- since the shoe could be considered a deadly weapon and the intent was to cause bodily harm.

It's a f*cking hate crime. But it woill not be acknowledged as such by anyone.

I agree, Stoney. I know two who I consider my friends, one of whom had a couple guys do a home invasion on him. Robbed him of his cash, jewelry, weed and video games. As they left, they shot him in the leg because he didn't act scared enough. I asked him if they were homeboys that might have known him and he said "Nah, man. Them was niggaz that done that shit."

I saw one of these animals interviewed some time ago. He said flat out that he has no respect for white people who refuse to defend themselves and, because of that, they deserve it.

I agree with him,as long as the white people are ones who are male and have the ability to fight back.

Of course there was. The guy getting hit could have used a knife hand to the attackers nuts at any time the guy was dancing around in front of him.

If the other guy has time to hit you,you have time to hit the other guy back. Just be serious about hurting him when you do.

After that he would have OWNED the MoFo,and his two "pals" would have sat down and been as quiet as church mice once they saw the guy had the ability and the will to defend himself.

A friend and I mistakenly walked into a "black bar" in VN in 1969. We were in town to buy stuff at the PX,and were just looking for a cool beer or two before heading back to the camp. We had no idea it was a "black bar" and wouldn't have given a damn if we had known. Everything stopped when we walked up to the bar and ordered beer, and the natives started getting restless and mumbling "kill honkie" crap.

That's when we started pulling grenades and 45 autos out of our pockets and smiling at them. It was amazing how timid they suddenly became. We managed to finish our beers in peace, and walk out the door with no problems.

And "yes,we were prepared to kill everybody in the joint if they pushed it."

People don't mob you because they are brave. They do it because they are cowards as individuals, and think they can hurt you with no harm coming their way. Hurt just one of them (preferably the most aggressive) bad enough to be screaming out for his mama, and the rest will back off and shut up.

C'mon, the guy was tired from working all day trying to get home the cheapest way he could by taking publick transportation. He worked all day to pay his taxes so the local, state and federal government, most coveted and illustrious guardians would protect him. He was no nearer to having a knife ready for this or any situation any more than panning for Ag/Au in Eureka, California. I am afraid, the government has won a victory statement by being a constant protector of individual rights and freedoms.

Excellent questions, Liberator.

Thanks, Buckeroo.

All the folks written in your commentary are well known and documented/written in historical documents.

I want to point out, the Romans were very skilled in detailed documentation about the empire. And yet, just as you omit, not one word about Jesus of Nazareth.

The Romans were indeed skilled in many areas of life, but the life of Jesus Christ was just one more inconsequential Jew in one more inconsequential a Roman outpost back then. The Romans would not be so inclined to report on the minutiae of non-citizens, would they? But then, why would only Roman accounts validate the existence, life and death of Jesus Christ in your opinion? (although Roman historian Tacitus did mention Jesus Christ, and so did Jewish historian, Josephus.) There were others sources as well.

Few historians deny the existence and life of Jesus Christ. What they may deny are his miracles, resurrection, and the eyewitness accounts afterward.

I still don't understand why the observed and documentation as written in the FOUR Gospels should be dismissed. They included historically proven people, places, and things. Nothing is amiss.

A conspiracy?? If so, the usual reason for that type of collusion of history or the creation of "myth" is greed or money. NONE of which defined Jesus of Nazareth or his disciples. Moreover, people usually don't usually allow themselves to be tossed to the lions or crucified without a fight....just for a myth.

All Christian faiths, denominations, sects, cults claim to be the TRUE religion of Jesus. Which one shall we pick from to get me or you or anyone else to GOD, the almighty?

Valid challenges...

The one "true Christian faith" is the one that adheres solely to the commandments and expectations of Jesus Christ as specified in the Bible. So called membership in "Christ's Church" far more simple than many imagine, but built-in for-profit quirks, criteria, and exclusivity have been created unnecessary, un-Biblical requisites.

IMO, you can't go wrong with a church that goes, "Sola Scriptura." That would be a Baptist church. I know your initial reaction to attending a Bible Class might be scoffed at, but you might be surprise at your own level of interest and fascination of the subject matter as well as challenging the instructor.

OR.....,maybe he was a college student that had been out all night partying with his girlfriend, and waiting for his grant check to come in so he could buy a new car?

Buck,I used to have to ride 3 different city buses to get back and forth to work every day. Took me over a hour and a half each day,and this was after working 10 hours in a body shop at a Cadillac dealer. No such thing as lightweight fenders, doors, and bumpers to wrestle with. I was beat too,and riding by myself. Yet nobody attacked me,and if they had,I assure you I wouldn't have been too tired to fight back.

He was no nearer to having a knife ready for this or any situation..

Knife HAND,Buck, not knife. That is jabbing with your hand while your fingers are held closely together and rigid. Only good for soft spots like eyes, throats and testicles, but really, really effective when applied right.

The victim was on his way home. He was probably lulled to sleep based on the hum-drum sounds of the train as he was sped to his designed destination.

HorseHillary! Only dead people are lacking enough energy to fight back to defend themselves. He was and is a rabbit. One of natures natural victims.

You or anyone else can not be prepared for the unexpected all the time.

Have you ever been in an actual fight? It's called "reacting",not being prepared. MY natural inclination when someone hits me is to remove their freaking head from their shoulders. It requires no planning. You just do it.

Of course, you immediately left since you unprepared.

Who was unprepared? We weren't expecting it,and that is not the same thing as being unprepared. Nobody in a bar with a fragmentation grenade and a 45 auto is unprepared. Maybe a touch over-prepared,if anything.

Serious?

Oh,yeah. If you don't want to get bit, don't be attacking the dog.

That is quite a tall tale, there.

It's ok with me if you don't believe it.

I don't believe it. If you go into a bar, you are planning to relax.

We WERE relaxed. We were in perfect control of the situation at all times. We were relaxed when we left, too.

If they say they are followers of Christ. Then you should read what Christ said in the Bible. The King James is reliable. Others may be as well. But anyway if they do things that are contrary to the teaching and claim something different. Then you know that they are not following Christ. I'm not talking about people who make mistakes and fall and get back up. I"m talking doctrine.

"The other thugs were nothing more than "backup" for any struggle."

And they may be armed. You need to be aware of everyone around you in a situation like that.

There was a recent story where some guy and his girlfriend did an armed robbery (or something) and ran into a convenience store. A customer, who was carrying concealed, sneaked up behind the guy. He never saw the girlfriend who sneaked up behind him and shot him in the back of the head, killing him instantly.

People make all sorts of foolish claims.

Well there is a difference though when the claim is made by the AG of the U.S.

He [the customer] never saw the girlfriend who sneaked up [snuck up] behind him and shot him in the back of the head, killing him instantly.

How does anyone know that? Voodoo maejiic or Houdini weird science?

You do have a point with that one.

That is judging everyone of them for the actions of some of them.

Ok Stone. Let''s approach the subject like this. You hate all homo's and lump them all together into the same stereotypical group. So which neighborhood would you feel safer walking through after dark: the gay neighborhood or the black one?

Who would you feel safer taking a shower with -- a gay man or a black man?
