Title: Ted Cruz Raises $2 Million in First 3 Days of 2016 Campaign

From USA Today:

WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz, the first major Republican candidate to declare his White House candidacy, raised $2 million during the first three days of his presidential campaign — as his team deployed a mix of complex social-media strategy and behavioral analytics to reach and sway potential donors.

Hours before his announcement speech Monday in Lynchburg, Va., Cruz tweeted the news that he was running for president. That day, he had 5.7 million interactions on Facebook. So far, nearly two-thirds of his fundraising haul has flowed in through the Internet, aided behind the scenes by a team of data scientists who closely monitor social media and digital traffic to determine who’s reading their messages, who’s sharing them and who’s clicking through to his website and taking action.

The communication is two-way. Relying on marketing techniques common in the world of commerce, Cruz’s team has tailored its web advertising to reach seven different “psychographic” clusters — groups of people with similar attitudes, personalities and interests. It has crafted 17 different advertising messages to reach those potential donors.

For instance, pro-gun “traditionalists” saw online banner ads with a grandfather and grandson heading out to hunt, while another targeted people concerned about personal safety with an image of a home break-in. Another talked about “bringing … faith in God back to America” to attract religious conservatives. They all directed people to visit www.tedcruz.org.

“Our entire culture here is to build engagement,” said Cruz campaign manager Jeff Roe. If a potential supporter first visited the Cruz website via her tablet Tuesday evening during the Texas senator’s interview with Fox News host Megyn Kelly, the campaign will direct future online ads to that voter’s device during the evening hours.

In all, Cruz hopes to raise $40 million to $50 million by March 2016.

Dr. Ron Paul raised over $4 million in one day on his first moneybomb in 2007, but he's an American.

Even his exploratory committee announcement which was only a half-dozen words on an obscure web page brought in a half-million in a couple days.

I'm not seeing this as a huge outpouring for Cruz. But it is enough money to run in the early states.

Maybe Ted can find a sugar daddy like Adelson. Bush has a bunch of them already, telling them to limit their donations to him to under a million each. The same bunch that dumped truckloads of campaign dough on Romney.

If one strong opponent doesn't emerge early, Bush will overcome them with big money and name recognition. Bush wants to steamroll the conservative base, like McCain, like Romney. Bush wants to get it done early.

Yes, indeed. The money was contributed from hard working Americans that are tired of the Washington DC bullshit.

Bush 2.0 had his Pioneers donor/bundler group. Back then, the tycoons couldn't give so much so they had to court voters for donations more.

Well, I just seem to remember that he was setting on some serious money, even before he really got off the ground.

Without getting into the details of Dumbya's early win of the money primary, it's safe to say Jeb is working hard to lock up the big money early, in part to conserve funds and make other campaigns stall out at the starting line.

Starve 'em now so you don't have to fight them later (in high-dollar Florida). It's pretty elementary strategy.

Hey bro...

Your link no worky. But which "walk" is Cruz failing at? All of the GOP puppets are sure to be waffling on the issues. And no doubt, all of them are going to compromise on issues I'd rather they'd not compromise on at all. Who will compromise less is one big question and possesses the will to return fire another. I know Cruz ain't perfect (yes, I know his wife worked on Wall St.)...but he seems the only one with a sack on the GOP side, will remain onm the offensive, won't sell out in a debate, and is guided by more principle than anyone else as far as I can see thus far. You see any better option?

I've noted that Politico has been on Cruz' tail for a while. One great gauge of the best GOP candidate is to note who the media hates the most. So far, it's Cruz. Opening up his campaign in Lynchburg was not exactly playing it safe. The guy is probably the most hated Republican....in his own Senate! If McStain, Graham, McConnell, and Peter King (RINO-NY) hate him, he must be doing something right.

2016 brawl breaks out on Senate floor

Paul lashes Cruz, Rubio [Lindsey Graham] for ‘dangerous' and ‘reckless' positions on government spending.

Rand Paul wants to increase pentagon spending and pay for it, by cutting the EPA, etc... Cruz, Graham, and Rubio want to borrow the money from China, and let your kids pay it later, while learning to speak Chinese at the mosque.

Aaah, thanks....

Gonna have to examine the details and minutiae of this proposal. IMO, we can certainly cut the defense budget as Paul proposes. But aren't there other issues the consider of these guys? What of Paul going to the carpet on behalf of the ball-less reptile, Mitch ("yes, me lord, 0bola") McConnell??

Come on, Hondo -- "borrow the money from China, and let your kids pay it later, while learning to speak Chinese at the mosque" -- isn't that juuust a wee bit of an exaggeration?

Problem: None of these Senators actually knows what resources from the budget are actually being used for "Defense," and how much is buried. Remember -- the Regime is FUBARing all the book-keeping and sabotaging the entire works to begin with. Whomever wins the Presidency will have to re-audit the entire budget, personnel, and priorities, then work from square one. Much like Reagan in 1981 after Carter. Only Carter wasn't an active enemy of this nation.

Not by much. The neocons are not even pretending to want to balance the budget. All four senators want to increase defense spending by $190B, but Paul is the only one with a plan to pay for it. Cut spending!

Is that too radical? The standard of living has already decreased substantially. More Chinese debt will only make it worse. The wheels are coming off! Yes, our kids will pay a heavy price for our foolishness in electing Republicans and Democrats, known criminals.

Nope, NOT radical but sensible. CUTTING spending is a no-brainer. I don't know why the others want to ratchet UP spending when we know it's most likely unnecessary. Without auditing the regime's fake books, why assume MORE money must spent on the military?

The standard of living has already decreased substantially. More Chinese debt will only make it worse. The wheels are coming off!

You may well be right on both counts.

I do NOT want boots on the ground in the ME. But something has to be done about the wanton slaughter of Christians and of anyone not aboard the whole Muzzie-superior race thing. I'd hope Cruz flexes some muscle, kicks some azz, and makes the Muzzies know he's serious about extinguishing their World Caliphate idea.

Paul is great on certain issues, but yeah, his telegraphing plans to aid the Illegal Invasion/Amnesty is not acceptable. His support of McConnell was a baaaad omen.

Problem is, as usual, we look at the GOP lineup, and we can manage to get another Reagan. We know ONE thing; We can NOT afford another Bush/Dole/McStain/Romney type of Republican. I'm willing to ride Cruz to finish line IF he also kicks the azzes of the RNC and DNC.
