The other day I read someone discuss "hoarding." So, I have a question: What is the difference between Hoarding and Preparing? Is it illegal to prepare for a disaster, say beyond a 30 day period?

Can you provide a guideline towards a "normal activity?" As an example, I enjoy an occasional chili dish within an otherwise varied diet. Should I plan for chili, say a 30 day period, 60 day period or even more?

Normal could depend on circumstances. If you can't shit regularly, I'd say eat chili every 7 to 10 days... but buy as many large and small primers for rifle and pistol you can afford. Store them in a secure, cool and dry place.
Good luck.

Is there a method for calculating how many primers should be available for any given day for reloading purposes?
As an example: I want to make about 100 rounds of .308. Before use and actual pressing in my Dillon Precision press, how shall I test the 100 primers from the small tin before reloading? Should I use a sample technique that is well understood in modern industry as a method to understand the quality of the primers before use? If so, will you bite a primer (with your teeth) to test the primer? I need a good test technician such as you and I understand you are out of a job, living on a fixed government pension.
What is the difference between Hoarding and Preparing?
Greed.

Why would preparing for a disaster of any length of time, e.g. 5 years, be illegal? How much ammo would one need for fending off a disaster for say 5 years? How much water? Food? Fuel? Clothes? Medical supplies? Light? Entertainment materials?
What do you thinking the biggest danger to your well being would be if there was a major disaster, i.e. one in which the normal channels of communication and commerce were seriously damaged or even destroyed? How long do you think you could survive if in an instance you lost all external sources of power, fuel, store bought food stuff, medical supplies, etc., and no prospect for external help on the horizon? My guess is that for those living in a city or town of any reasonable size where they are totally or substanitally dependant on store bought food, fuel, electricity, and city provided water and sewer perhaps 30 days +/.

The EPA has a lot to say about the time factor. As an example, human excrement can not be disposed upon your private property without a permit. How are you going to survive with an EPA inspector always up your ass?

Simple
Randomly select 10 primers from a box of 1,000. Seat these primers in a resized rifle or pistol case. Without powder or projectile, chamber the primed brass case in your firearm. Put the muzzle against your ear canal and listen carefully as you slowly squeeze your trigger. If blood starts oozing out of your other ear... your tin of primers work as designed.

You mean to say, you are not going to accept this wonderful job opportunity that I offered you?
Absolutely not. I still have every tooth in my mouth. No chewing on primers for me... but thanks for the offer.

How about tap dancing? I have a few primers begging to be placed under the soles of your dancing shoes. I believe it could be fun for you to experience this professionally, as you already do a fine job.

Hoarding is the disgusting neighbor who has an overgrown blighted property chock full of trash and broken appliances in the front yard along with broken cars, trucks and boats stored in the backyard. The nasty neighbor's garage is full of trash, old clothes, garbage, broken appliances along with animal excrement, rodents and insects.
A prepper's home is neat and orderly, secure, well maintained.
