Title: Mayor Calls 911 To Report A Robbery, Police Show Up, Beat and Arrest Her

Kinloch, Missouri – Theda Wilson, the former mayor of a Missouri town says that she was assaulted by police after she called 911 to report a burglary in her apartment complex. “In the back of my apartment I called 9-1-1 thinking they were going to help,” Wilson said. Unfortunately, “help” is rarely what actually arrives when the police are called, as Wilson soon found out. As the police arrived, Wilson approached them and let them know that a suspicious person was seen going in and out of a nearby building. That is when police told her that she was under arrest, and instead of explaining anything they moved to physically apprehend her. Naturally, not knowing why she was being arrested she resisted their physical contact and was assaulted as a result. After the scuffle Wilson took photos of bruises on her face and arms. An eyewitness said, “The three officers wrestled her to the ground. That did not need to happen.” Wilson was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance and treated her for the injuries inflicted during the scuffle. Although Wilson was not taken to prison, she was formally arrested and released on her own recognizance from the hospital. Captain Dan Clyne of the Bel-Ridge Police Department told reporters that the police officers did what they had to do to get handcuffs on her, and that he was told that she was resisting arrest. However, they should need an actual reason to arrest someone before they charge them with resisting arrest. “Well, they are not supposed to beat anybody. I’m told that they attempted to place you in handcuffs and you resisted. They got you in handcuffs, you were placed in a car, and a far as they were concerned, they thought it was done,” Captain Dan Clyne said. During the encounter, Wilson demanded that the officers read her rights, but the officers refused and informed her that they were actually not required to do that. The entire ordeal was caught on video, and now the Bel-Rigdge police department says that they are investigating the issue. According to the Riverfront Times, Wilson and her supporters went to the Kinloch Police Department Friday morning to get answers, but officers blocked the driveway to the department and ordered them to stop filming. Like I said, she was seeking media attention....any way she could get it.
Unfortunately she learned that cops are rarely looking to help. She committed NO CRIME, yet she was assaulted and arrested. And you're fine with that. No surprise there - cops are gods to badge bunnies like you. The woman appears to be nuts.
I believe what will be discovered is that she falsely reported a crime and planned on obstructing the police investigation once they arrived. She's been having history with that department when she threatened to chain the police department doors shut pith padlocks if they didn't do what she demanded as interim Mayor. She was quickly replaced with the original mayor that was found guilty of felony failure to pay child support... the town people felt he was the lessor of two evils. lol

I believe the point Gatlin was making was this, she was removed as interim Mayor, prior to this incident... yet she identified herself as the Mayor, during the incident. If she lies about that, then why would anyone believe anything else she claims?

Actually,it is in some areas. I once stopped a patrol car in Denver at 1 AM to report seeing two guys taking a screen off an apartment window and climbing inside,and the cops told me to mind my own business or they would arrest me for interfering with police business.

She threatened to padlock the police department closed if they didn't do as she demanded, as interim Mayor. The community wasn't going to allow her the venue of interim Mayor, to act out her nut behavior. I don't blame them.

Did she identify herself as the mayor,or did the reporter identify her (in a honorary manner) as the mayor? Even retired police and fire chiefs still get called "Chief". And because she WAS a mayor,she wasn't lying IF she did identify herself as a mayor. LBJ and Ford weren't elected,but they still got and get called "President".

I still want to know why the cops arrested her in the first place - what charge(s)? Not the resisting arrest charges. In the original news video, this case is as clear as mud. The police chief was kind enough to be interviewed on camera with her seated in front of him. What gives here?

I researched that. She was issued two hand written summons for interfering with a police investigation and resisting arrest. She was taken to the hospital by police, and released on her own to appear later in court.

If the police investigation was her 911 call of a suspicious person, then something is definitely wrong here.
Maybe ask your pals in blue to confess their sins? First of all, I would have EVIDENCE there WAS corruption. She now has full ACCESS to the media...."WHERE'S THE EVIDENCE?" I am tempted to say things about you not understanding small town patrician politics,but the best example of a felon mayor I can think of was Marion "Crack Ho" Berry of DC. A case can be made that when it came to DC,he WAS providing the population with representative government,though. At least the poor black population. When it came to the rich white denizens of DC,he was a mere innocent baby,though. A mere street criminal mixing with international criminals. A pickpocket compared to corporate lawyers.

Because they could is the best guess I can come up with. This is what they do as a stop-gap measure until they can get someone back to the police station and talk with a DA to see what they can hang around someone's neck in order to get a plea bargain.

Yes, upon viewing the hand written appearance tickets, I found them messy and not well written. The department needs a Remedial training block on being neat, professional and grammatically correct, on their court filed documents. I was disgusted. I'll assume they wrote them quick at the hospital and rushed the paperwork to get far away from her unpleasantness. lol
