A primarily white group of Alamo Heights fans chanted "USA! USA!" after winning a boys basketball game on March 3, 2012, against Edison High School, which had a predominantly Hispanic roster.

Members of the Idalou High School section during a game Tuesday against Slaton High School began a similar chant, which drew allegations of racism from Slaton Superintendent Julee Becker. Idalou ISD officials later apologized.

A Texas superintendent has apologized after fans at a girls basketball game chanted "USA! USA! USA," drawing allegations of racism.

The incident echoes a similar episode in 2012 when a primarily white group of Alamo Heights fans chanted "USA! USA!" after winning a boys basketball game against Edison High School, which had a predominantly Hispanic roster.

Members of the Idalou High School section during a game Tuesday against Slaton High School began the chant, which drew allegations of racism from Slaton Superintendent Julee Becker.

"I believe that we are a microcosm in schools of greater society," Becker told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal regarding the incident. "That's what we are. The symptoms of racism, they run deep."

Becker told the Avalanche-Journal that Slaton has not filed a formal complaint with the University Interscholastic League, the governing body for Texas public schools, saying that "in some ways, this is a bigger deal than the UIL."

Idalou Superintendent Jim Waller said that no students had been disciplined, but issued a written apology: "I apologize to Slaton ISD and the chanting will not be allowed to continue at games because of the perception that it creates. We understand competitiveness and school excitement and support, but we need to be supportive in our words to our team and not use words that may be interpreted as insensitive to an opposing team."

"I was not aware of anything about that until it was brought to my attention by someone else about what had happened at some other schools," Waller told the Avalanche-Journal. "I immediately apologized to the (Slaton) superintendent. I emailed this morning a written apology and called an administrators meeting."

SAISD athletic director Gil Garza filed a complaint with the UIL, the second year in a row that a compaint about racially motivated chants was filed afte rthe Region IV-4A basketball tournament.

Alamo Heights ISD Superintendent Kevin Brown said he apologized to SAISD officials and said students who chanted would not be allowed to attend the Mules' following game. Brown said some students disciplined for the chanting were Hispanic.

"Unfortunately, after the game, we had a handful of students who made a bad decision and we're very sorry it happened," Brown said. "They made a mistake and we're going to use this as a learning experience."

In 2011, Cedar Park students chated "USA, USA" and "Arizona, Arizona," referencing controversial immigration legislation passed in that state. Leander ISD officials later apologized to SAISD for that incident.

Poster Comment:

Huh?? A "Formal Complaint" will be lodged over chants of "USA!!"?? Only in this America can chants of "USA!" be considered "racism." Only in America do officials apologize for such petty nonsense.

Note how this lobotomized liberal-punk author is conjuring a story over "USA!! USA!!" chants from back in 2011 AND 2012 to make his patheticly irrelevant PC point...

Gotten the Memo yet, Honky?? To clarify:

Pull down your 'Murikan Flag, and BURN IT (or the liberal academe, Statists, and America-Haters will do it for you.)

Next, shut your patriotic yapper. Finally, then get your proud, racist, homophobic, Islamophobic American pasty-azz to the back of the bus. Surrender your heritage, traditions, and culture. Because, "Divisity-is-our-strength!!"

"The future must belong to those who insult %$#@! America, Whitey, heterosexuals, family values, Western Civilization, Christianity!!" (1 image)

Who is "we," Ms. Julee Becker? Speak for yourself. I mean as a self-loathing pasty-azzed man-hating, raging America-hating, race-baiting lesbo who projects your psychologic neuroses upon the rest of us.

Victorious chants of "U-S-A" only make sense when an American team is playing a team from another country.
But when two American teams are playing each other, it is just downright stupid, ignorant & perhaps even racist for one team to try to claim the chant for itself

But then again, I don't think anybody has ever accused Texans of having exceptionally high IQs.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of illegal aliens presently attending and playing sport for southwest schools who can hardly speak a lick of English.

Dat you, Ms. Julee Becker-Green? Are you another mind-reader? Ever been to California where partisan Mexican-"Americans" boo American soccer teams?

But then again, I don't think anybody has ever accused Texans of having exceptionally high IQs.

You could just call Texans a "bunch of buck-toothed, backwoods hillbillies." But that might sound a bit...ignorant and snobbish. Btw, I've heard the same charge of "low-IQ Yinzers" from the Pittsburgh area. Having attended school out there, I've witnessed it, but decided that perhaps I was being a bit too unfair and judgemental.

(From the report):

(Alamo Heights ISD Superintendent) Kevin Brown said some students disciplined for the chanting were Hispanic.

Uh-oh. What a conundrum for 1st Amendment Nanny-Staters and race-baiters. What kind of discipline was the penalty for kids expressing their First Amendment right?

Students who chanted would not be allowed to attend the Mules' following game.

That's called CENSORSHIP. We see this same over-officious stunt pulled if anyone dares mention the word "gay."

Moreover, singling out students (NOT for vulgarity or obsenity) could be traumatizing them. I wonder if the "offending" students were ordered by the SS Reichfueher Kevin Brown attend to sensitivity-training as part of their discipline??

I guess the question would be: What prompted such a chant? Did the other team give an indication they were representing Mexico?

"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;" (Revelation 5:9)

According to their team shirts, the other team was "representing" their American school and not "Mexico" :-)

I'm assuming the natives are resentful of with those they consider illegal invaders and not Americans. I don't live in their area, but I can understand that frustration of the deluge of illegals pouring in. Chanting "USA!!" is their only way of venting. According to the article, even some Hispanic-Americans were chastised for chanting "USA!"

psst. Those foreigners who come here and work in convenicne stores. They aren't real Americans.

You are only a real American if your family has been here for a few generations.

These newcomers are foreigners.
