Coral Snake's Bites of the Week 2007-21 This installment of the bites has a theme the Illegal Immigration/Depopulation movements and receiving bites this time around are Teddy (the Swimmer) Kennedy, the FDA for individual ones, and Jesuit General Peter Hans Kolvenbach, the CIA and the Depopulation movement in general get to share one. As always It seems that Teddy (the Swimmer) Kennedy has no more regard for the law now in Illegal Immigration than he did in his Chappaquiddick crime. This illegal immigration is an invasion and a clear act of lawbreaking on the part of the Immigrants involved many of who form armed violent street gangs and Jesuit sponsored "ReConquesta" organizations as soon as they become established here. Such gangs and "ReConquesta" organizations are nothing less than TREASON and are still supported by Swimmer Kennedy. This absolutely takes my breath away! As a former INS special agent I am quite familiar with how bail decisions are made by magistrates and judges. Essentially the factors are the severity of the crime being charged, the risk that the defendant poses to the community and the risk of flight demonstrated by the defendant. Here we have the legislators of the highest legislative body of the United States ignoring these basic, commonsense principles. Could an individual who has violated our laws possibly show greater contempt for our laws than by failing to show up for a court hearing? It turns out that consumption of about 20 cherries reduces inflammation in a similar manner as aspirin or Cox-2 inhibiting drugs without the lethal side effects of gastric bleeding or vitamin depletion associated with these drugs. The molecules in cherries, called anthocyanins, work to reduce inflammation at ten times less dosage than aspirin. The FDA also permitted this new prescription-only anti-inflammatory drug to be advertised on television, even though long-term safety data was not available. As it turns out, this drug wasn't any safer than aspirin and the FDA took no subsequent action against the drug maker that submitted misleading preliminary safety data in its application for FDA approval. This anti-inflammatory drug went on to cause thousands of side effects and was associated with the deaths of an estimated 20,000 Americans, mostly due to mortal heart attacks. This isn't the first time he's actually talked about firearms, which everyone else in his administration has dutifully avoided. And he's saying some pretty straightforward stuff, not only is he endorsing the latest bill through Congress (although that's not all that special, the NRA endorses that one, so no surprises there), but he's also asking for states to seriously consider beefing up their own gun laws. "U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on Thursday said the deadly rampage at Virginia Tech in April highlights the need for states to provide better information on their mentally ill residents to a national crime database used to screen gun buyers. Speaking to the National Association of Attorneys General in Atlanta, Gonzales said only 23 states give the FBI?s National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, data on those with mental illness that would disqualify them from buying a gun. “For NICS to be effective we need to have more information from the states,” Gonzales told state attorneys general. “It has to be timely, it has to be accurate and it has to be complete.” We do agree with all of that. No matter what other faults or impacts the recent deal between the NRA and the Democrats in Congress may bring, if it works towards sealing up the background check system, it will at least be doing something good. But while the administration has of course been in favor of this bill (if the NRA is, you can be sure the Bush administration is jumping right into marching order), the administration and the NRA haven't been in favor of something else we need to do to combat crime, strengthen our gun laws. And yet Gonzales in offering suggestions on how to fight gun crime, actually suggested just that. "Also on Thursday, Gonzales called on the state attorneys general to help combat what he called “disturbing trends” in violent crime. The FBI recently reported that violent crime increased nationally in 2006, the second straight year there had been a jump. The increase comes after several years of record low violent crime rates. “I do not think it is possible to achieve the American dream if people live behind closed doors in fear for their safety,” he said." And yet that's exactly what will happen if what the NRA proposes, “arming every soul around” happens. When you end up with a completely armed populace, people live in fear? fear not only of getting shot, but fear that their every action will catch someone the wrong way or that an accident might happen at any time. An armed society is not a polite society, as they say. An armed society is a society scared for its life. We also find it interesting that Gonzales heads directly for state governments when he asks for change. While the NRA has plenty of power at the federal level, the place where they are most securely entrenched is at the state level. And as a result, state laws have suffered. Especially in states like Pennsylvania and Florida, loose gun laws put every citizen in the state in danger, and even make it possible for criminals to obtain firearms to transport to other states. We can only hope state government take Gonzales' advice, and work to strengthen their gun laws to keep firearms out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them.] [From http://www.gunguys.com/ Gun Manufacturers in Limbo Complain About Losing Business to Laws Apparently those gun makers that were going to abandon Illinois for Iowa haven?t actually made any moves yet at all. They're still supposedly watching to see what Illinois does with its gun laws. "Area gun manufacturers remain in limbo, unsure if Illinois legislators could put them out of business. Bills were introduced this year in the Illinois legislature to outlaw high-capacity gun magazines, to ban the .50-caliber rifle, and to ban some types of semi-automatic weapons. The assaults on the industry were tougher this year, according to gun manufacturers, and that has stalled expansion plans at many of the businesses." Aww, what a poor crying shame that people who make their living off of selling weapons that no civilian should own aren't able to expand their businesses. Now, we're not completely heartless towards them? we release that the people who work in these factories have families that need supporting, and mortgages that need paying. But the fact is that this industry profits off of death. They profit off of manufacturing weapons made to kill human beings. So while these businesses may suffer when stronger gun laws are passed, the fact is that we'll all suffer if they don?t. It's their choice to sell the real weapons of mass destruction, weapons that claim thousands of American lives every year. And they've got to deal with the consequences of that choice. "The company still hasn't decided what it will do, he said. “Either you deal with (gun legislation) year in and year out, or you leave,” he said. “We really don't want to leave. But, we have this black cloud hanging over our heads that isn't about to blow away."? We're sorry that these businesses might go under. But the fact is that for every factory that has families depending on it, there are many more families that have to deal with the loss of a loved one because those weapons are available to citizens in the United States. For every thousand dollars lost by a gun manufacturer when a law bans one of his weapon models, hundreds of thousands are saved by the health care industry, resulting in better public health all around. These guys can talk all day about how going out of business would put the families that depend on them in financial trouble, and we'll even listen for a while. But the fact is that they choose to make and sell weapons of death. That was their choice to do so in the first place, and they're the ones who have to live with that decision when the people of Illinois (or any other state that passes stronger gun laws) work to save lives and make things right.] [From http://www.gunguys.com/ Gun Show Loophole Must Be Closed, Whether Mental Health Laws are Fixed or Not The LA Times has a very frank editorial up about the deal made last week between Congressional Democrats and the NRA. According to the headlines, the deal made huge strides towards closing a loophole that would keep mentally ill people from obtaining firearms. But when you take a closer look, you can see how this deal actually helps the NRA, and doesn't do anything at all about a much bigger loophole facing America today: the gun show loophole. "WHO SAYS gun control is dead in the United States? As Wednesday's passage in the House of what could be the first major federal gun-control law in a decade proves, it is still possible to limit weapons sales in this country as long as the National Rifle Assn. supports the bill, it doesn't actually put any new restrictions on who can buy guns and it comes in the wake of the deadliest shooting spree in modern U.S. history. “It's a good bill, and some of the provisions added to win NRA approval actually make it stronger. Currently, it's very hard for people who have been judged to be mentally ill to have their gun rights restored, but the bill creates an appeal process for them; if a court, health board or other legal authority deems that they?re no longer a threat, their names can be removed from the no-buy list. Yet no matter how effective the FBI database becomes, those legally forbidden from buying guns will have little trouble getting them. Between 40% and 50% of the guns sold in the U.S. come from dealers in the secondary market, who claim they?re selling from their personal collections and therefore don?t have to perform background checks on buyers. Most of these sales happen at gun shows, which are one-stop shops for criminals. This wasn't a factor in the Virginia Tech case because Cho bought from licensed dealers, but even if his name had appeared on the FBI?s list of those disqualified from buying guns, he could have simply bought them in the secondary market as did the teenagers who shot up Columbine High School in 1999." The jury is still out about whether this is a “good bill” or not, but one thing is clear: this bill does nothing to close the gun show loophole, and because of that, it remains useless as long as that loophole remains open. We can pass all the laws we want in terms of a background check, and we can make that check as stringent as we want to. But as long as any criminal can walk into a gun show and legally buy a firearm without any paperwork at all (which they can do because private sales are still unregulated in the United States), then all of our laws are for naught. Americans are tired of gun violence? they?re tired of seeing tragedy after tragedy, death after death. Right now, the NRA still maintains its stranglehold over Congress, and legislators there believe, for whatever reason, that they can?t move on gun laws. But they?re wrong. America demands stronger gun laws. They demand the closing of this loophole. And they?ll keep demanding as the tragedies get worse and worse. "Opposition from the NRA has diminished Congress? appetite for closing the “gun-show loophole”. The same goes for reviving the federal assault-weapons ban. Among other things, that 1994 law limited newly issued ammunition magazines to 10 rounds. Virginia authorities believe Cho's magazines contained at least 15 rounds, allowing him to slaughter more people without reloading. He was able to buy those big clips because Congress and President Bush allowed the ban to expire in 2004. The gun lobby's influence is at a peak largely because public attitudes have shifted. Gallup polls show that 78% of Americans supported stricter gun laws in 1990, compared to 56% last year. The Democratic Party, once supportive of gun control, has changed too. Many Democrats believe the assault-weapons ban was a factor in their loss of the congressional majority in 1994, so they're no longer eager to take on the NRA. Yet the shift in public opinion has arisen at least in part because Democrats have done such a miserable job of stating their case. Only the most radical gun nut would oppose limits on unlicensed sales, because this would do nothing to prevent law-abiding, mentally fit citizens from buying guns while helping to keep them out of the hands of criminals. Rather than even try to communicate this, most Democrats would rather avoid the issue. At least until the next Columbine or Virginia Tech." It should go without saying that we shouldn't wait until another tragedy happens to fix things. If this half-hearted bill to close the mental health loophole is all that comes out of what those students went through at Virginia Tech, we will have failed their memory. We need strong gun laws that keep firearms away from criminals, not makeshift deals with a lobby that's hellbent on trading our safety for gun industry profits." Furthermore you show us what you TRUELY ARE by your constant attack on gun industry PROFITS. Attacking the right of a business to make a profit is standard Jesuit/Socialist methodology.
