Three Belton Independent School District schools are closed Thursday after federal officials said they were re-evaluating the health risk of two students who traveled on the same flight as a Dallas nurse who was diagnosed with Ebola, according to a district letter issued to parents.
Classes at North Belton Middle School, Sparta Elementary and Belton Early Childhood School are cancelled today to clean and disinfect schools and buses, the letter said.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said this week they were reassessing the health risk posed by Dallas nurse Amber Vinson to passengers who traveled with her from Cleveland to Dallas on Frontier Airlines flight 1143.
Belton ISD Superintendent Susan Kincannon wrote in the letter to parents that she was frustrated that we didnt learn until late (Wednesday night) that the CDC was re-evaluating the health risk.
The two students from North Belton Middle School and Sparta Elementary who traveled on the same plane as Vinson on Monday attended class Tuesday and Wednesday and are not showing symptoms of having contracted the Ebola virus, school officials said.
