One comment that got me to thinking was Wandy says he hates the mound in Arlington, Wandy does well on the road but stinks at home. So what if the mound is why they have a crappy record at home and maybe part of the cause of all the pitching injuries?? Just a thought...

Time to call in the grounds crew. Unbelievable the team would create a disadvantage at their own home. IIRC Wandy is historically a better pitcher on the road. Except maybe when he pitched in Houston. Go figure.

Yeah last night was ugly. There are indications 37 yr old Wandy would benefit from an additional day off. He's thrown a lot of pitches in his starts. From experience we know the older you get....:)

Back at .500 now. I'm sure Banny wants to keep the team at or above .500 going into the break. I think his leadership has kept the team competitive.

Do you think Feliz will get traded? Thinking no one will pick up his 3M plus contract. So I see him hitting the FA route.

Well it will be an interesting second half.

Oh also. Saw an article this morning Hamilton might be heading back to the DL with a groin strain. He's had a history of such. He said after a game he feels his entire lower half of his body is weak.

I'm curious if this isn't a way to light a fire under his tail feathers??

Imagine that.

If they plan on keeping him they're going to have to keep an extra OF who can also play IF, or have one in the minors you can keep calling up and sending back down.

It was a sweet swing. We were behind the plate towards the first base line. Tall kid, sweet swing. We all thought it was gone but he lined against the wall. The wind was blowing out towards right field too:) If he got it up in the stream he would have put in the parking lot.

Saw two relievers in Lamb and Reyes. Both did great. Reyes (LHP) came in at the top 9th score 6-4 runners on 2nd and 3rd no outs...Yikes. He gets a come backer to the mound holding the runners one out. He then strikes out the next guy. Then he gets a ground out to end the inning stranding the runners.

Another LHer did them in and he was a rookie too.

Heard something the other day on MLB channel that the Cubs have had to face LHers for only about 50 innings so far this year. Seems like the Rangers have faced at least 35 "starts" by LHers and have lost just about every one of them. The only RH batter on the roster who is doing decently is DD and he's a rookie. Beltre is in another slump that makes at least 3 so far and only has 21 RBIs for the year. "EVIS" is in his 3rd or 4th slump right now and has only 28 RBI. $31 million dollars and only 49 RBIs to show for it, something has got to change.

I was close they have 33 starts against LHers but they have more wins than I thought, 14 to be precise. But did they actually beat the starter or the bullpen in those games, hmmmmm...

One inning bases jammed with no outs and not one run came across.

According to the box score they had 11, batted 1-15 w/runners in scoring position. If you use the box score on the Rangers official website it shows how many runners are left on base by each batter. Last night DD was the winner he stranded 7 all by himself, in fact every single batter stranded at least one runner.

Seen the whole 1st inning on MLB Tonight, Harry was way up in the strike zone with all his pitches. He looks stiff like he can't bend over enough to get a better angle to keep his pitches down. Also seen Choo come over and take a ball from DD because Choo had the better angle and has the better arm, guess that's why DD didn't get his break before now he has noodle arm.

If he can't get his motion sorted out then I don't think he'll be here long. Gotta get your pitches lower in the strike zone, especially when you're throwing only in the 80s. Send him back to the DL/Minors for more work on motion and maybe some flexibility exercises if he back will allow.

Neftali Feliz...too emotional. Buh-bye. Closers are a dime a dozen these days anyway.

The Rangers made some noise...just before getting Hamilton back. What happened?? Closer problems? Starters getting bombed early on? Angels cleaned their clocks -- it was embarrassing. That division is still up for grabs.

Meanwhile in the Bronx, the Jekyll & Hyde Yanks are doing just enough. They've got a killer BP (Betances, Miller, etal), gotten resurgences from the old guys (Texiera and A-Rod), and SP staff that keeps them in games for 6 innings.

Slugging under .400.

The Yanks' Stephen Drew may only be hitting a buck-69 BUT is slugging around .375 with 12 dingers. Robinson Cano -- the gazillion dollar man -- is slugging the SAME as Drew (his second base replacement.) Brutal investment. Check out some of the slugging averages of some "stars" -- it's mind-blowing.

$31 million dollars and only 49 RBIs to show for it, something has got to change.

49 Ribbies? 'Bout on pace for 100. Not bad.

The rest of the lineups have to pitch in.

TRIVIA: Mickey Mantle back in 1959 had a brutal year (for him.) 75 RBIs. ALL YEAR. You know who stinks? The Bosox' Panda and Hanley Ramirez. Plus neither he (Hanley) or Big Papi wants to play first base. Too many Prima Donna Latino players take the money...and run.

On the Yanks I'll wait until mid August to assess them. Right about then Texiera and A Rod will be getting tuckered out and hit the DL.

Rangers? As I stated earlier in the thread it is a rebuilding year. Next year too. This year if they finish above .500 that would be monumental. If other AL contenders struggle down the Sept stretch they could be in a position for that second wild card. But not convinced enough to buy tickets to that WC game right now:)

The Rangers have always been a "streaky" team. If they streak at the right time while others are sleeping it can get interesting. No matter if they make it to October, they don't have the shut down starting rotation to go deep.

The current rotation is hanging in there and performing well above expectations and ability.

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers recalled right-handed pitcher Roman Mendez from Triple-A Round Rock and designated left-handed pitcher Ross Detwiler for assignment on Saturday.

In 12 games for the Rangers earlier this season, Mendez recorded a 5.40 ERA, and he had a 2.57 ERA in 13 games at Round Rock. He joins Spencer Patton to give Texas two middle relievers.

Detwiler was acquired from the Nationals to be in the Rangers' rotation, but he went 0-5 with a 6.95 ERA in seven starts. The 29-year-old went on the disabled list from May 15 to June 4 with left shoulder inflammation and then returned to the bullpen. He had a 7.71 ERA as a reliever.

Looks like another one bites the dust.
