Thanks for the update. Was wondering if he was coming back to start...guess not. Maybe they move Bass or Edwards to a spot start now and then to give some of these pitchers an extra few days off. All these high pitch counts in 5 or 6 innings...something has to give. The BP has been doing their part for the past three-four weeks. If JD and Banny can keep swapping out fresh arms with the farm, it will work for a bit. Saw that one of the DFW reporters think that if the Rangers 'buy' at the trade deadline it will be for some reliever help. I guess there was good news on Harry's first rehab start. FYI: Red Sox Designate Carlos Peguero By Jeff Todd [June 4, 2015 at 2:31pm CDT] The Red Sox have designated outfielder Carlos Peguero for assignment, the club announced (via Tim Britton of the Providence Journal, on Twitter). His roster spot will go to the just-acquired Alejandro De Aza. Boston added Peguero just over a week ago, and he saw only six plate appearances with his new club. He’s always had plenty of pop — as his 30 Triple- A home runs last year attest — but Peguero strikes out quite a bit while walking only at the league average. If Harrison and Holland are back and doing well and the team is winning then I agree, if not then I think it will be a tossup as to what they do. Maybe even sell, especially if they aren't winning. And if that's the case they just might contemplate moving Beltre to get another starter if Joey is still in Arlington and doing well. Tonights lineup has Moreland batting 4th Andrus 5th and Joey in 6th, that could work if "EVIS" can get on base in front of Joey. 12 hits and only 2 runs I imagine the 13Ks had quite a bit to do with runners being left on base last night. Also had to use 6 pitchers again when probably only 2-3 were required. You are not kidding. On father's day 2011 family took me to a RR AAA game. Dads and kids were allowed on the OF grass to play catch. So younger sonny boy and I went down there played catch for a bit and came back drenched running for the lemonade stand. It was a hot June Texas day game. About 95 (not bad) in the stands. But felt like an oven in that OF. I learned to appreciate the conditioning these guys have for enduring such conditions most of the season. The dews of grace fall heavily in the night of sorrow. Yes, Joey came up with bases loaded in his first MLB game. Real pressure situation and I believe he whiffed but was not the last out of the inning. In game two he missed runners on base and one bases loaded situation with Evis making the last out of the inning. Then he batted first the next inning and knocked one out (his second). From what I've seen/heard some of the teams are "INTENTIONALLY" targeting other women that are doing the post game/star of the game interviews as Emily does. Once he learns to control his swing in certain situations and finds "patience" then he will become a very dangerous hitter, just as good if not better than Josh in his prime... And then he goes 0-4 with 4 Ks, 3 of them looking. I imagine he was told to look for his pitch and lay off the low stuff so he got a bit tentative. When he first gets promoted he always has a rough patch and then seems to figure out what is going on so I'm not worried, it's all part of the learning process with younger players. I think he'll have it figured out in the next week or so and will end up making it very difficult for the management to send him back down. The only problem with that line of thinking just where do you put him to let him get some at bats after Adrian and Josh come back?? I think the only way he's gonna play everyday is if either Adrian or Mitch is gone. BTA maybe Bannister will just go to some revolving system to where he rests his guys on a more regular basis to keep them fresher and ready for post season. (Which is what I would do). I was expecting a decent outing from him another 6 innings or so but not a complete game shutout. That's one way to rest the bullpen especially after they had to use 6 pitchers last night. If I'm not mistaken that's the first complete game thrown this season by a starter? And that win just moved them into 2nd place in front of the Angels. They've made up 5 games of their deficit behind the "Stros" and have another 5 to go. If they can get thru the next 2 weeks without Adrian and Josh then they should be able to make a run at them later when some of the starters come back. Looks like the Astros are coming back to Earth after their hot start, or should I say a start against a lot of teams who weren't playing very well. Cleveland, Texas, Athletics, Angels, Seattle and San Diego all teams who got off to rough starts. All of them were below .500 until recently and some still are. Seems like he is over his injuries "finally" and back to being a good pitcher. Before he got injured he won right at 50 games for the Astros over a 3-3.5 year period of time when they absolutely stunk. The Athletics seem to be playing a bit better now so this could be a decent series. Martinez, Gallardo and Rodriguez for Texas and Grey, Hahn and Kazmir for the As. I'll take 2/3 anytime that means your playing .666. They would have won the game except for fielding miscues again, I'm curious as to when Bannister is going to blow his stack about it. Both plays seemed your run of the mill plays nothing hard about them. Colby was mad you could see him cussing towards the field on the replays, they blacked out his mouth. The top and bottom of the order did them no favors they went "oh fer" so no one for the middle of the order to drive in with their hits. Good point. I'm sure the vets are talking to him and Magadan too. He's a smart kid FWIK, so I'm sure he is looking at the video of his at bats. He's getting a lot of change ups and breaking balls. MLB style. Meaning he sees such pitches in AA ball but not the type that comes at you in three different speeds. The slower pitchers in minor ball are probably more predictable. Such is life for the youngster. He was not up at AAA ball yet and goes straight to the majors. On another related subject we have Sherrington writing this today: He's still beating the "get Hamels" drum. He also points out the price for such a trade and it includes names like Alfaro, Gallo and Gonzalez. No way. I would not trade the future away when the club is in such a flux right now, if they keep what they have I think they will be tough starting next year. Sooner or later I think Hamels is going to force the issue and then that will be the time to consider a trade for him. I personally don't think he's an ACE (#2 maybe) and not worth what they want for him. As far as I'm concerned the Lee deal was a bad deal cause he didn't win any of his starts in the WS, that's what they got him for. Patience, patience, patience is the key to having a good team. Latest news on Holland is more delay. The MRI showed he is healing but not quick enough to hit a mound. An article I saw said they are being cautious because Profar had a similar injury and they put him in rehab too soon. Which leads me to believe the Rangers are still looking at a run in 2017 vs. this year or next year. I don't think financially they can get as bad as they were last year but if they keep playing .500 ball and then have a WC shot in the last few weeks, it's possible they make the playoffs. Going deep? Don't think so. Yu won't be back until around the ASB next year. So the question is does a 2017 team have Adrian Beltre on it. Don't think so. I read one report that Tate needs some refinement before hitting the higher minor league levels. The first thing from the scouting report is that he has a great fast ball but his control needs work. I wonder if they saw something else spectacular in him because this is a top draft pick and they mention control. Makes you wonder. I mean the same things they said about Tate they said about Feliz. Update on Harry's return: Hope this guy makes a big comeback. Great personal life story too. His brother is undergoing chemo as Harry makes his comeback. He's doing this not only for himself. No errors, but … : The Rangers weren't charged with any errors, but they didn't help out Lewis in a couple of key situations. With one out in the second, Omar Infante hit a soft line drive that one-hopped in front of shortstop Andrus. He fumbled the ball momentarily, long enough for Infante to beat it out for a single. Infante ended up scoring on a sacrifice fly by Escobar. In the fifth, the Royals had Escobar on first and two out when Morales dropped a fly ball into left-center. Center fielder Martin got to the ball on one hop but fumbled it, as did left fielder Delino DeShields backing him up, which allowed Escobar to score.
