I don't particularly agree with such a decision. A more appropriate measure would have been tear-gassing his ass... But that's just me. I can see the logic from the LAPD perspective, though... (and keep in mind, I despise them) From their viewpoint, he was a rabid dog, and needed to be put down. Either way, I'm sure the LAPD will now return to the safety of their local Starbucks... Dorner was an imminent threat to public safety, who might escape given time to do so. There was no reason to wait and no expectation that waiting would change anything. The 'hot' teargas that was deployed is an approved tactic in that situation. The reason Dorner died is because he shot himself in the head, not because the cabin burned to the ground.
