Anyone wondering if the reason why Diamond resigned less than 6 hours ago is because he suddenly grew a conscience, will be disappointed. The real reasons are two: on one hand politicians were concerned he would make it public where all the bodies were buried as reported last night, in the process taking down at least half the English political establishment, obviating his departure from the public eye immediately, and, more importantly, as BBC's Robert Peston reports, the English Fed, that "impartial" and "apolitical" institution known as the Bank of England, got involved. Sunday By Elizabeth Flock D.C.'s historic Florida Avenue Baptist Church is marking its centennial with a special sermon on Sunday, delivered by President Barack Obama's former pastor, the controversial Jeremiah Wright. During the 2008 Obama campaign, the media dissected and lambasted Wright's former sermons, which included remarks that the Sept. 11 attacks were proof "America's chickens are coming home to roost," and another comment: "...not 'God Bless America.' God damn America." When reached by phone, the church said it did not know what Wright's sermon would be about. [Check out our editorial cartoons on President Obama.] Since its founding 100 years ago, the Florida Avenue Baptist Church has only had four pastors, but welcomed numerous guest pastors to speak. Wright is pastor emeritus of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, having retired in early 2008. Update, 2:26 p.m.: Florida Avenue Baptist Church Reverend Doctor Earl D. Trent Jr. tells Whispers that Wright was chosen because the church has a longstanding relationship with the Chicago pastor. "We've always been at the cutting edge here," Reverend Trent said. This is wrong. CO2 = HEAT At 400 ppm you can accurately say that 2 C over the 1760 Baseline has been reached. And burning 1.2 Trillion BBLs and putting that into the atmosphere will do the trick.
