Bachmann in Iowa

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is being called the "Queen of the Straw Poll" after her victory at the Iowa straw poll yesterday for the GOP presidential nomination.

Bachmann, who finished with 4823 votes, narrowly beat second-place finisher Congressman Ron Paul who collected 4671 votes.

The Ames poll, although important because of the early significance of Iowa in the primaries, is nonbinding and unscientific.

AFP reported that "It has been criticized as playing too heavily in favor of candidates that are well financed, since their campaigns can buy the $30 tickets for their supporters to attend and presumably vote in their favor."

The Ames event was considered to be a Republican fundraiser, yet Bachmann's campaign bought and "handed out at least 4,000 free tickets to supporters."

Therefore, Bachmann appears to have rigged the vote at a minimum direct cost of $120,000 to her campaign. It's unclear whether any of the other candidates engaged in this same behavior.

Another anomaly with the vote surfaced this morning when it was discovered that 218 votes went unaccounted for. In other words, these votes were in the overall tally but not registered to any of the candidates.

One would think the media would attempt to uncover the discrepancy given the razor thin 152-vote margin between Bachmann and Paul.  However, so far, they've been content to call her the "queen" of the event.

I'm surprised that she could find 4000 Iowa residents that could be bought that cheap ($30). She must have gone down to the union hall. (1 image)

The petting zoo helped.

With the economy still in the dumper -- maybe permanently? -- and full-time jobs becoming as scarce as rain during a drought, huge percentages of Americans have had their (misplaced) faith in the American dream shaken, the upper-middle-class consumerist lifestyle is exposed as a mirage for anybody who plays by the rules. Capitalism and the America that embraced it as a way of life is now and forever more a failure. It does me good to know that the generation that voted in Reagan and his ideology will see their America die from that ideology before their very own eyes and knowing they had a hand in its destruction.

Did you see this:

But Bachmann did not enter the venue until she had been assured by a campaign staffer that the lighting had been changed, NBC News' Jamie Novogrod reported. The stage was dramatically brighter following the change from the Perry campaign’s Tungsten lights to Bachmann’s HMI lights, witnesses said.

After she was finished speaking, Bachmann signed autographs from the stage, Politico said.

The music sound level was also raised for Bachmann’s entrance and exit, which irked one of the event organizers.

"We had a couple speakers scheduled to speak after her, and we were going to do our big ask for our fundraiser, but as soon as she was done, the music blasted up, she started signing autographs, and … people just started leaving," the organizer, a GOP official who was not named, told NBC News.

"So two speakers missed their chance to speak, and we missed our (chance) to ask the Republicans here for our fundraising — extra money that we needed to carry for the caucus," the organizer added. 'Like she was Madonna or something'

The contrast did not go unnoticed by local Republican activists, who traditionally value having direct contact with the candidates in their no-frills state contests.

"She didn't sit down to visit with us and eat with us," attendee Mel Shaw, 57, told the U.K.'s Telegraph newspaper. "She came into the room like she was Madonna or something, a big star appearing before all us little people. She didn't want to answer questions. That's not the way we do politics here."

From Yahoo! News:

Another factor is Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, who came in a close second at Ames, losing to Bachmann by only 152 votes out of 16,892 cast...

Bachmann Rigged Iowa Poll by Buying "At Least" 4000 Votes

I have what I consider to be a stupid question.... How many people have been elected POTUS after winning the Iowa Straw poll throughout it's history ????? 1- 2????

So why rig it when it means absolutely nothing to begin with???

When asked by a Liberal what I bought my Granddaughter for her 1st birthday I replied, "MORE AMMUNITION"!!!! -----------------------------"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

How many people have been elected POTUS after winning the Iowa Straw poll throughout it's history ??
Over the 32 years of the Ames Straw Poll's history, only once has the winner become the Republicannominee for President. This happened in 1999, when George W. Bush won the Straw Poll and would go on to become the GOP nominee and our country's 43rd President.

www.digtriad.com/news/art...For-Rep-Michelle-Bachmann

Jorge Bush was the only one to make prez after winning Ames. IMO it's helped Bachmann quite a bit. She's in the news and being taken more seriously at least. Whether that translates into the GOP nomination remains to be seen. I'm guessing that she won't get it, and one of the more devout liberal globalists like Mitts or Ricky Reconquista will lose to hObama. I like Bachmann better than those two, which isn't much of an endorsement, since I despise them both.

Do you think she can win?????

The talk show people seem to be split down the middle on her....

I think she has to be able to appeal to enough of the Independents that voted for Obozo, to vote for her.... And that means shutting up about abortion and whateversexualsyouwannabe......

Probably not, the MSM will call her a k00k, just like they do Ron Paul.

IMO we're headed for 4 more years of the overt Marxist, a social break down, and blood in the streets. Same results if a real Republican gets elected. The only real hope of avoiding a bloody revolution, is a pro-American RINO (or third party candidate) like Ron Paul.

Look at the UK riots for a preview of the fruits of D&R multiculturalism, and cutting edge progressivism.

There are issues that are deal breakers for me and Bachmann is on the wrong side of most of them.

Patriot Act, the Free Trade alphabet soup, that whole 'unbreakable U.S.-Israel bond' bullshit, Iraq, nation building, etc...

Sure, she's on the right side of abortion and 2A issues, MAYBE on the right side of spending and reducing the size of government NOW....maybe. I'm not sold on that yet, what with her neoconservative tendencies. But it takes more than that to be a conservative, and I will only vote for conservatives.

I don't think you will get one as the candidate because the Establishment Republicans don't think one can be elected, sound familiar???? You won't get one until the up and coming Conservatives get established and take out some of the trash, then you might get one by 2020 or 2024..... but then again I might be wrong....

Folks are getting real sick and tired of the establishment picking their prez. The Tea Party is proof of that. There's a point of no return, where the country can no longer be saved. I'm not sure that we're not past it already. We've got no time left for trying again to reform the pubbies. Goldwater tried and was defeated by the checkpants Rockefeller Republicans (prototype for the neocons). Reagan tried, was screwed by the same liberal globalist traitors, and was shot. You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Throw that scum under the bus and start with another party!

And I totally agree with that sentiment ..... but, starting a third party now would split the Republican/Conservative vote and give the Communists at least another 4 years to push us past the point of no return.... So as far as I'm concerned we have to vote for whoever the Pubbie candidate is and try to stack the House and Senate with more Tea Party people to keep the Establishment weinies in line until they can be "disposed" of thru attrition or thru making them irrelevant...... It will take time probably 4-5 voting cycles and if the American people stand by their convictions it can be done. But if they loose hope/interest after 1-2 then we are toast..... Hello Lenin, goodbye Uncle Sam..

Later on after things get back to the way it should be then by all means start a 3rd party, the more the merrier.... But that will only work if you can keep the Liberal vote down in the 30% or less range, any more and we will be right back where we are right now..... almost screwed......

He has to be able to pull down 50.1% of the vote, do you realistically think he can????? Can he say talk enough RINO to get nominated and elected, then govern conservatively?????

I'm not saying he's bad I'm just saying is he realistically electable???

In the primaries he doesn't need 50.1 percent. He needs more the a third or so.

In the General Election I can see anti war democrats voting for him.

At least you know where Ron Paul stands. And I agree with most of it.

I think he is wrong on some stuff too.

I don't think there's a chance in hell that Paul will get the R nomination. The RNC would rather chew off its own feet than nominate a conservative.

But there comes a time when you realize that supporting and/or voting for the establishments Republican candidate, will only take you further down that globalist road.

So I don't support Paul because I think he can win. I support him because he's the most conservative candidate running and just having him in the race and the debates forces the other candidates to shift right, at least in their rhetoric.

Look at how many of them are saying some of the same things he was saying in the 08 debates.

So the key to taking over the RNC is to take over who is actually a member of the committee itself, if you do that then you can get the candidates you want..... right!!!!

And that has to be accomplished at the state level..... right!!!!
