"Hmm? Actually I don't really care who mocks Christ, as long as they do not report to be a minister, Priest or Pastor."

Bully for you, however I was referring primarily to the way many in the U.S. would reflexively react were this to be an Iranian and not an Israeli show.

"Blasphemy is when a Christian religious leader denies or mocks Christ. Everyone else is free to do what they want to do."

In a court of law, a judge would laud you for strict adherence to the proper dictionary definition of that term.

However, to Muslims, mocking Mohamed is blasphemy. Not to mention that in the past what a state required it's citizens to go to church, thus legally defining everyone as Christian, the blasphemy term would be one of the legal charges against someone not allowed by law a non-Christian who did something like this.

In many places at many times in human history, it was a crime to not be a practicing Christian.

Mike- I used to be a wiccan (for a short time).

I know all about the stuff that Wiccans believe- but they are wrong about Christ. Most people are wrong about Christ- because of religious people. I just have to tell you that.

As far as anyone being forced to be a Christian- I can't agree with "many times in many places people being forced to be Christian".

Could you tell me what you are referring to?

Throughout the sixteenth century Europeans quickly subjugated native peoples plundering of their lands and wealth. Europeans justified this with the view that natives were not Christian, and, particularly after witnessing the mass human sacrifices conducted by the Aztecs, and lack of traditional civilization by other natives, savage, and not deserving to possess the New World.

In Spain itself in 1492, the Moorish population of Granada had been given the choice by the first Archbishop of Granada, Hernando de Talavera: become Christian, or leave the country. In a letter to his religious brothers, Cardinal Cisneros, Talavera's successor, would celebrate the “peaceful domination” of the Moors of the Albaicin, a neighborhood of Granada, praising converts, lauding killing and extolling plunder. This letter came, however, after centuries of struggle by Christians in Spain to recapture their homeland, which had been under Muslim domination for generations. Thus the war in Iberia, between Christians trying to regain their land and Muslims defending their conquered territories, naturally heightened religious tensions and fervor on both sides.

To the King and Queen of Spain (Ferdinand II of Aragon, 1479–1516 and Isabella I of Castile, 1451–1504), the conquest of indigenous peoples was justified by natural law, embodied in the medieval doctrine of “just wars”, which had historically been a rationale for wars against non-Christians, particularly the Moors, but which would now be applied to Native Americans. Coming shortly after the Reconquest, the realization of a centuries-long dream by Christians in Spain, the discovery and colonization of the New World was directly affected by religious and political conditions in a now-unified Iberian Peninsula.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Requirement_of_1513 (citation for both quotes)

Emperor Constantine of Rome himself was the first to write a law of worship on Sunday.

The Spanish had a legal requirement to read a legal document to natives in the New World that this point was where they had to declare themselved Christian and faithful to the crown, or the Spanish were not responsible for the bloodletting, enslavement or torture which would occur if they failed to meet this standard of belief and conduct.

Usually this was read in Spanish to incomprenending people not familiar with the tongu, but in the eyes of Spanish law that did not matter.

"The Spanish requirement of 1513

The European view of the inherent right to conquest and domination in the New World was captured in a declaration addressed to Indian populations known as “El Requerimiento” (The Requirement). The document was prepared by the Spanish jurist Juan López Palacios Rubio, a staunch advocate of the divine right of monarchs and territorial conquest. It was first used in 1513 by Pedrarias Dávila, a Spanish explorer who had fought the Moors in Granada and who was later to become Governor of Nicaragua.

The Spanish Requirement, issued in the names of King Ferdinand and Queen Juana, his daughter, was an admixture of religious and legal justifications for the confiscation of New World territories and the subjugation of their inhabitants. At the time, it was believed that Native Americans resisted conquest and conversion for one of two reasons: malice or ignorance. The Requirement was putatively meant to eliminate ignorance."

There are many examples of this historically. Want more?

South Korea:- A chronology of Christian attacks against Buddhism

As in India the religion of love starts small, infiltrates major sectors of the society. Now Christianity is the dominant religion in South Korea and Buddhism is a fading religion. This is how Christians subvert from within. And this how they commit genocide of pre Christian culture and religions. And that is exactly their intention in India as well.

http://www.buddhapia.com/eng/tedesco/2.html

Buddhism under Siege 1982-1996: A Chronology of Fifteen Years of Incidents Against Buddhism in South Korea

The following is an incomplete listing of defamations, acts of vandalism and arson attacks against Buddhist temples and facilities in South Korea which have occurred since 1982 and which have earned the attention of the news media and the dismay of the Buddhist population in the country.

Buddhism under Siege 1982-1996 : Fifteen Years of Incidents Against Buddhism in South Korea including at least twenty temples or Buddhist shrines seriously damaged or totally destroyed by arson since 1986.

http://christianwatchindia.wordpress.com/2008/09/10/south-korea-a-chronology-of-christian-attacks-against-buddhism/

There is more on this in the link. Christianity did not get as pervasive as it is with mere persuasion. Many people have died, been imprisoned and tortured for not going along with the program.

Many thousands of people were burned as witches who were just practitioners of herbal medicine, talked to themselves or animals, or contradicted the local authority and pissed them off.

I do not begrudge anyone their religion, but I am well aware of the hypocrisy involved in much of the laments about Islam many Christians have.

Both religions are too aggressive about recruitment, and feel you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. This is an apt metaphor as it denotes how little many care about who they hurt or what rights are violated by their advocacy to promote their religion.

Hmm- Well, I believe that the Muslims have done far greater damage to the Buddhists than anyone else in the world..

I believe this is anti Christian propaganda. No Christian I know would support any killing of anyone. Beside that- why would we kill Buddhists?

Jesus and Buddha are buds. Buddhism is a very peaceful philosophy. I love his holiness the Dali Lama. I don't worship him, or think he is God- but he is pretty cool in my book.

He does NOT have the power to save, that Jesus has- but he is a good guy. Why would we kill Buddhists?

Why would we FORCE anyone? It isn't going to help anyone get into Heaven by FORCING anyone to be a Christian.

Some horrible things have been done in the name of religion, in history, yes.. and some of those people claimed to be Christians, but Christians don't kill people for not converting- at least not in many hundreds of years. They were wrong when they killed people for not converting.

I don't know any church who would support killing Buddhists.

I do support Israel. For three reasons:

1) Their location 2) It is the right thing to do, because without our support they are in trouble- and we located many of them there after the war 3)Because Israel is the jewel of God's eye.

About Taxpayers having to pay so much- I will give you that we should cut that back a bit. BUT I support the support of Israel.

If I supported them ONLY for religious reasons, I would say no- taxpayers should not have to pay.

But they are a very strategic ally for us as well. Provide for the common defense is one of the only, original, reasons we have a federal government.

I am a conservative - so I say-cut welfare and support Israel.

Are Catholic Saints holy?

Humans can reach a degree of overall enlightenment that makes them holy enough this becomes the general consensus about them.

You don't need to be a Christian to know holiness. Buddha was a holy man whom Christians often mistake as being presented as a god.

Holiness is not a franchise owned and controlled by Christianity.

In my understanding, it is ok for me to show respect to other people, even when I do not agree with them.

Mike I have to tell you, I respect your right to choose to be a wiccan, but I do think it is about Satan.

I was in wicca. I know you all talk about paganism, but really, it leads to satan worship.

It just does.

Christ is the only God who can save us, and who rose from the dead. Jesus is in a class all by himself. In wicca you have witchcraft and that is effective, sometimes... but witchcraft will not save you or redeem you.

Being Wiccan or Pagan has nothing to do with Satan. Wiccans don't even believe in your Satan. You may very well have practiced black magic as a Wiccan. I can completely see you as a black witch. I've been watching you destroy Christianity on the other site. Believe what you want to believe, but all belief systems have a path to salvation.

Satan is a myth. We do not recognize the concept of the devil or hell vehicles used to scare people enough to keep them in the flock.

I was forced to go to church every Sunday and to do the catechism afterward. It was a hostage crisis from first grade on. I gave up arguing passionately to get out of it in third grade, and when I got big enough my Mom couldn't force me to go. The haircuts stopped and only happened again in the Army, and I will never change.

We have a large and vibrant Wicca community here in Eugene, and my social life is entrenched into a shared leadership role in it. I helped make it what it is.

I am an iconoclast by nature, and that will never change either.

Christianity, and Islam which is a lot like it, and several of the others are geared to manage and control human culture. Our religion is about respect and love for all life.

And we don't harass people for foolish petty hatreds concerning homosexuality, what country someone was born in, or other immature control freak games.

My religion teaches me to fight my political and social battles whiteout fear and hatred. And we do not believe in proselytizing, and believe anyone can reach the higher levels of enlightenment in any of the religions mankind has dreamed up; even yours. That is an alien concept that I find most distasteful.

Satan is not a myth, Mike. And there is a Heaven and there is one way to get there: Jesus.

I understand your story.

Enlightenment and living in harmony is excellent, a good way to live- but it does not save, it won't get you to Heaven- and there is something so much deeper than enlightenment.

As I said, I have tried other things, and I know what I am talking about. I don't have a religion, personally. I have a savior.

I believe you have a philosophy, and I agree with it because it all starts with the Golden Rule. There are good people who are not religious or spiritual at all. They are also not going to Heaven. That makes me sad, but I don't force things on them, if that is their choice.

Jesus just takes the Golden Rule out further, and has the blessings of God. There is no religion or philosopher who can give you what Jesus gives you.

You might want to check it out just to make some comparisons. Just to make sure you really understand what people are talking about, and saying about Jesus.

I bet you $100.00 bucks you would discover something surprising.

That is absolutely true, Stone. They worship satan, and many are just very nice people, looking for some control over their environment. Most have troubled pasts, and look for a way to be meaningful..

I can't fault them. Heck, I was in Wicca for awhile. (I was still praying to Jesus- but I was there with them)

The people I met were just lovely, but they were doing Satan's work. I was doing Satan's work.

Jesus's way is so much more deep and satisfying.

The religions are different approaches to the divine. At least some of them are equally valid paths to salvation, none of which may consider themselves superior to the others. Jesus Christ is therefore one amongst many bringers of salvation and revelation which are equally valid, in other words one way.

God is only one (useful or burdensome) construct of the human mind. All religions and their founders are therefore equally true and equally untrue – the difference being inconsequential. Each man or woman should achieve bliss in their own way, and it is of no importance whether one follows Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed or whoever.

He is a human male who will mutter pious words one moment, and then take a brick bat to people who scare him because he has such a poor grasp on the facts of life.

You might try to talk to him about the concept of hating the alleged sin and loving the sinner, because his words demonstrate aptly that he doesn't have a clue about it.

Sometimes Christians have to do outreach to people who are in their own flock.

No one who belongs to any religion is perfect. There are Christians who misuse the better parts of their religion to further their own ends and agenda.

Wicca is no different. All humans have their graces and flaws, no matter what organization they belong to.
