Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee said Monday that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange should be tried for treason. He followed up the call by saying Mr. Assange should be executed if found guilty. Whoever in our government leaked that information is guilty of treason, and I think anything less than execution is too kind a penalty, the Republican said in an interview.
He added that the latest batch of Wikileaks put American lives at risk.
Mr. Huckabee said the leaks released by the website put American relationship at risk and harm foreign policy.
Mr. Huckabee, a current host on Fox News, has been touted as a possible presidential candidate in 2012. The former Arkansas governor has said he is considering a run, but has not given a date certain.
