By Brent Hecht - Wednesday, July 5th, 2006 A good week for Liberal Country Fans at the iTunes Music Store This Fourth of July Tuesday was a boon for Liberal Country Fans at the iTunes Music Store. First off, we had the release of Johnny Cash57;s final studio album, American V: A Hundred Highways (also available at Amazon and at most everywhere else one can by CDs).
Next, a 60;mini61; version of Big & Rich57;s 60;8th of November61; documentary became available at the store, packaged with an exclusive 8th of November EP. The full-length documentary was shown on GAC TV many times last weekend, but for those of us who live in areas where GAC takes a back seat to MTV, MTV2, VH1, and BET in our cable line-ups, iTunes is thus far the only way to get a peak at the touching video. Look for more commentary about the documentary on Liberal Country Fan soon.
Finally, for those of us without pesos to spend, this week57;s free iTunes Discovery Download is Rockie Lynne57;s 60;Red, White and Blue61;, a song that the folks at iTunes describe as tolerant and 60;willing to admit that flag-waving isn57;t enough anymore.61; Indeed, the song communicates a much more accepting view of patriotism than that which is held by the Right. (Battling the right-wing view of patriotism is becoming a motif here at Liberal Country Fan.) Who would have thought there57;d be a country tune that reminds us that there are Muslims in the United States Army?
