Russia Intensifies Syria Bombing as Cameron Joins Criticism
Post Date: 2015-10-04 15:24:34 by nativist nationalist
Russia intensified its bombardment of militant targets in Syria with warplanes flying more than 20 missions, as U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron joined calls for Moscow to change course in an intervention he described as a “grave mistake.” The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that 10 Islamic State positions in Syria had been attacked in the past 24 hours, including militant training camps in Raqqa and Idlib provinces. Russian strikes have broken “the management and logistics of the terrorist organization” and caused “significant damage to the infrastructure used for preparation of terrorist attacks,” the ministry said on its website. Laser-guided and ...

450 militants turn themselves in to Syrian authorities
Post Date: 2015-10-04 14:49:19 by buckeroo
Reports say hundreds of militants have turned themselves in to authorities in southern Syria. State news agency, SANA reported that about 400 and 50 gunmen gave up their arms and handed them over to officials in Dara'a province. 200 and 50 wanted people also did the same as part of the government’s national reconciliation efforts. The weapons handed over include rocket launchers, machine guns and sniper rifles. Many militants have in the past broken ranks with their groups and joined Syrian forces fighting terrorist groups. Looks like Putin has a winning war strategy. Not bad for a couple of days of targetting the bad guys.

How 7 years of Obama brought the world from Kumbaya to chaos
Post Date: 2015-10-04 13:58:28 by buckeroo
Just three years ago, President Obama famously ridiculed GOP opponent Mitt Romney’s statement that Russia remained America’s main geopolitical foe by taunting: “The 1980s are calling to ask for their foreign policy back.” Four years before that, Obama stood at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate to declare that once he became president, all people would join him around a global campfire, hold hands and put an end to the world’s evils and miseries. Well, seven years into Obama’s presidency, the promised worldwide Kumbaya is instead global chaos — caused in large measure by his willful retreat from America’s position of leadership. Washington’s ...

McCain: Trump doesn't understand Syria
Post Date: 2015-10-04 13:42:20 by buckeroo
Washington (CNN)—Sen. John McCain says that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump doesn't understand the problems posed by Russia's new role in the Syrian conflict. "I don't think he understands very well the situation. And he's entitled to his opinion," the Arizona Republican said Sunday in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union." McCain was pushing back against Trump's assertion last week that the United States should let ISIS and Syria's army fight -- and let Russia worry about ISIS there. Trump's comment came as Russia launched air strikes in the region. "Do we want to keep slaughtering people in ...

In Putin’s Syria Intervention, Fear of a Weak Government Hand
Post Date: 2015-10-04 13:38:45 by buckeroo
On the night of Dec. 5, 1989, Vladimir V. Putin, then a lieutenant colonel in the K.G.B., watched with alarm as thousands of East Germans in Dresden swarmed the riverside compound of the dreaded secret police, the Stasi. The Berlin Wall had been breached the month before, and the Communist government that had ruled East Germany since the end of World War II gasped its last breaths as protesters took to the streets across the country. The young officer and future Russian president, just 37 at the time, could only stand by helplessly at the K.G.B.’s Dresden outpost a few hundred feet away. The takeover of the Stasi headquarters was relatively peaceful, but in Mr. Putin’s mind the ...

Nullification in Effect: Recreational Marijuana Sales Begin Today in Oregon
Post Date: 2015-10-04 12:32:41 by hondo68
SALEM, Ore. (Oct. 1, 2015) – Limited sales of recreational marijuana begin in Oregon today, representing another major step toward nullifying the federal ban on cannabis in practice in the Beaver State. In July, it became legal for adults over 21 to possess, use and cultivate marijuana in Oregon. Adults can have up to 8 ounces of cannabis inside their homes and 1 once outside. They can also grow up to four plants. But until today, there was no place to legally purchase recreational weed. That changes today. Now, anybody over 21 with a valid ID can now walk into an Oregon medical marijuana dispensary and purchase recreational marijuana. According to KOMO, more than 200 of the ...

Chuck Todd on Meet the Press
Post Date: 2015-10-04 11:54:41 by sneakypete
Just watched Chuck Todd on Meet the Press this morning. It's probably the 3rd time I have watched the show since he took over, and am wondering if I am the only one that suspects he may have been hired because Hay-Raldo Rivera wasn't available? Seems like NBC isn't even pretending to be an independent news organization anymore. The fact that they hired this homosexual Jewish Dim insider to try to pass for a "moderator" on their Sunday news show is proof of this. He went after Trump today with such a passion you could see the hatred in his eyes every time he accused Trump of trying to attack Barry Obomber or Mrs Bubba. He really seemed to take it personally. Don't ...

Nobody can clearly define what 'moderate opposition' in Syria is - Kremlin spokesman
Post Date: 2015-10-04 11:30:03 by buckeroo
While the West accuses the Russian Air Force of bombing the moderate rebel forces in Syria instead of Islamic State, no one has clearly defined what moderate opposition is, Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said in an interview. “I don’t think anybody has yet explained what moderate opposition is, and Putin demonstrated quite active interest in the issue and asked in which way the moderate opposition was different from the immoderate opposition,” Dmitry Peskov told Rossiya 1 TV channel’s Sergey Brilyov. Peskov added that while speaking to critics in the West, Putin mentioned things such as “the [bombed] wedding in Yemen.” The discussion over what forces ...

CNN Alters Photo of Umpqua Killer Chris Harper-Mercer to Make Him Look White

Via Conservative Treehouse: On the left is the selfie Christopher Mercer uploaded to his social media. On the right is how CNN presented the same selfie in broadcast stories about him. Russia intensifying Syria airstrikes
Post Date: 2015-10-04 11:14:02 by buckeroo
(CNN)—Russia is intensifying its airstrikes in Syria, which it says have "considerably reduced" the combat potential of militants. The Russian air force began strikes in Syria on Wednesday. In the past 24 hours, it has carried out 20 flights targeting 10 ISIS positions in Idlib province, the Russian Defense Ministry announced in a statement Sunday. Since 2011, Syria has been torn apart by a brutal civil war that has seen the rise of extremist groups including ISIS. Moscow supports the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and says it is targeting ISIS, al Nusra and "other terrorist groups." But the U.S-backed coalition against ISIS -- comprising the United States, ...

Ted Kennedy’s America: 50 Years After the Law That Changed Everything
Post Date: 2015-10-04 08:18:05 by cranky
Fifty years ago today, Ted Kennedy began changing the face of the United States by ushering the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act through Congress. That legislation resulted in the fundamental transformation of the demographic, economic, social, and political landscape of nation, exactly the opposite of what its supporters promised. The Kennedy immigration law abolished the national origins quota system, which had favored immigrants from nations with a similar heritage to our own, and opened up American immigration visas to the entire world. While about nine in ten of the immigrants who came to the United States during the 19th and 20th century hailed from Europe, the 1965 law inverted ...

Hillary Clinton pledges to fight NRA on gun rights after shooting
Post Date: 2015-10-04 05:15:38 by buckeroo
DAVIE, Fla. – Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton says she will fight for stricter gun controls following this week's deadly mass shooting at an Oregon community college. She addressed the issue Friday while speaking at a community college in south Florida. She says Republicans have put the interests of the National Rifle Association "ahead of American families." The Democratic front-runner says there needs to be a "national movement" to counter the NRA's influence in Washington. She says she's well aware that taking on the NRA means there is a "political mountain to climb." But she adds that Americans "need to ...

Secret Service agents: Hillary is a nightmare to work with
Post Date: 2015-10-03 21:49:41 by TooConservative
“‘Good morning, ma’am,” a member of the uniformed Secret Service once greeted Hillary Clinton. “F— off,” she replied. That exchange is one among many that active and retired Secret Service agents shared with Ronald Kessler, author of “First Family Detail,” a compelling look at the intrepid personnel who shield America’s presidents and their families — and those whom they guard. Kessler writes flatteringly and critically about people in both parties. Regarding the Clintons, Kessler presents Chelsea as a model protectee who respected and appreciated her agents. He describes Bill as a difficult chief executive, but an easygoing ...

James Woods Blasts Obama’s Response to Targeting of Christians in Oregon Shooting
Post Date: 2015-10-03 21:30:51 by cranky
Outspoken conservative actor James Woods used social media to excoriate President Obama’s response to the school shooting in Oregon that left nine people dead this week as well as the shooter. Specifically, the actor called out Obama for what he perceived was the president’s silence on the fact that gunman Chris Harper Mercer reportedly asked each of his victims which religion they practiced before he shot them, with those who identified as Christians being immediately shot in the head. Now that it is recognized that the terrible Oregon tragedy was an assault on Christians, will the President still sing Amazing Grace there? — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) October 2, 2015 ...

Obama Goes Beyond Mere Gun Control, Hints at Confiscation
Post Date: 2015-10-03 21:24:59 by cranky
When President Obama spoke in reaction to the heinous October 1 attack on Umpqua Community College, he went beyond his usual calls for more gun control and suggested instead that America consider following the path blazed by Australia and Great Britain. In the mid-1990s Australia and Great Britain both instituted what were virtually complete bans on firearm possession. Obama referenced the bans thus: We know that other countries, in response to one mass shooting, have been able to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings. Friends of ours, allies of ours — Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours. So we know there are ways to prevent it. And Obama is not the only one who ...

Statistics Show White Supremacy is a Bigger Threat to the U.S. Than Radical Muslims
Post Date: 2015-10-03 19:57:49 by A K A Stone
Despite what Donald Trump and many other politicians have told you, the major threat to America isn’t Muslim extremism. In fact, statistics show that the real danger lies with domestic extremists who aren’t of the Muslim faith. The New York Times reported back in June that since Sept. 11, 2001, almost twice as many people have died at the hands of white supremacists and other non-Muslim extremists than by radical Muslims. Using data compiled by New America, a Washington Research center, a study found that 48 people have been killed by extremists who are not Muslim—including the mass killings in Charleston, S.C.—compared to the 26 by self-proclaimed jihadists. However, ...

Geraldo: Republicans are just pretending they’ll vote for Carson because HE’S BLACK!
Post Date: 2015-10-03 19:46:05 by hondo68
Geraldo Rivera made unabashedly racist remarks about Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson — while accusing Republicans of racism. The gist of it: they’re only saying they’ll vote for Carson because he’s black. On Fox News’ “The Five” on Thursday, Rivera commented on a Monmouth County College poll showing Carson would defeat Donald Trump in a head-to-head match-up. The show’s resident liberal said he was reminded of the 1993 New York City mayoral election, in which African-American incumbent Mayor David Dinkins polled high and looked like he was going to win, only to be defeated by Rudy Giuliani. “I think a lot of Republicans polled by ...

Ron Paul: Presidential Election Is Entertainment “Orchestrated by Major Media”
Post Date: 2015-10-03 19:44:23 by Deckard
By Nick Bernabe Former congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul has unloaded a harsh criticism of the 2016 presidential election. Appearing on RT’s Boom and Bust show Thursday, Paul commented on the media’s control of the U.S. electoral process, Donald Trump’s candidacy, and the stock market. Some of his harshest comments came when Ron Paul was addressing the media’s role in the 2016 presidential elections: “I think some of this stuff in the presidential race is orchestrated by the major media — and it’s entertainment,” he said. Former Congressman Ron Paul, who ran for president in 2012, has some first-hand insight into the media’s role ...

War Party Hates Putin – Loves al-Qaeda
Post Date: 2015-10-03 19:23:29 by nativist nationalist
As Russian fighter jets target al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria, the Western media is up in arms – and in denial. They deny the Russians are taking on ISIS – and they are indignant that Putin is targeting al-Qaeda, which is almost never referred to by its actual name, but is instead described as “al- Nusra,” or the more inclusive “Army of Conquest,” which are alternate names for the heirs of Osama bin Laden. And there are no ideological lines being drawn in this information war: both the left and the right – e.g. the left-liberal Vox and the Fox News network – are utilizing a map put out by the neoconservative “Institute for the Study of War” to ...

No ISIS Where Russia Is Bombing–Except Last Week, When ISIS Was Killing Gay Men There?
Post Date: 2015-10-03 19:17:32 by nativist nationalist
Photo allegedly showing ISIS killing a man in Homs, Syria, for homosexuality earlier this year (Daily Mail, 7/23/15) President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia suddenly escalated the stakes in his contest with the West over influence in the Middle East on Wednesday, as Russian pilots carried out their first airstrikes in Syria…. Russian officials and analysts portrayed the move as an attempt both to fight Islamic State militants and to try to ensure the survival of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, Russia’s main ally in the Middle East. But Homs is not under the control of the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL. —New York Times (9/30/15) A Syrian opposition activist ...

Russian airstrikes in Syria 'OK' with Trump
Post Date: 2015-10-03 18:44:37 by buckeroo
The full interview airs on CNN Tonight at 10 p.m. ET New York, New York (CNN)—If Vladimir Putin wants to launch airstrikes inside Syria, that's no problem for Donald Trump, who said Wednesday that he believes Russia's military moves in Syria are targeting ISIS and that the United States shouldn't interfere. "They don't respect our president. They really don't respect us anymore. And that's why they're doing this," Trump told CNN's Don Lemon in a wide-ranging interview at Trump Tower Wednesday. "At the same time, if they want to hit ISIS, that's OK with me." Trump's remarks came in response to the latest escalation of ...

Mom Regrets Calling 9-1-1 for Help After Police Showed Up and Tasered Her Nonverbal Autistic Son
Post Date: 2015-10-03 15:04:35 by Deckard
A mother is regretting her decision to call the police to help her find her son last year after their visit landed the 24-year-old nonverbal autistic man in the hospital. Ana Baltazar, mother of Miguel Torruella, called 9-1-1 last year after her son went missing. Within an hour, the police had found Torruella. However, lacking the training and subsequent competence to deal with a nonverbal autistic person, the NYPD used the only resource they have to handle the situation – violence. When police found Torruella, he was scared and lost, walking down the street. Torruella’s inability to communicate with the officers apparently enraged them, so one officer resorted to his taser. ...
