Queer Houston Mayor Stands Down on Subpoena after Lawlessness gets National Exposure

Just two days after it was reported that city of Houston Lesbian Mayor Annise Parker and her city council had subpoenaed the sermons and communications of area pastors following the city ignoring the law regarding a citizens’ initiative against their lawless “bathroom bill,” the Mayor has stood down on her subpoena. KTRH reports: Houston Mayor Annise Parker is doing damage control after national media picked up on her subpoenas targeting local clergy who protested her equal rights ordinance. The mayor says the subpoenas were too broad, and should not have included actual sermons. “It’s not about what did you preach on last Sunday,” Parker told reporters ...

UH OH: New Ebola Czar believes ‘overpopulation’ the biggest leadership issue for the world

Yeah this new Ebola Czar appears more and more to be a ‘perfect’ pick. He said this in 2008 when asked what the top leadership issue challenging our world today: “I think the top leadership challenge issue in our world today is how to deal with the continuing, growing population in the world and all the resource demands it places on the world and burgeoning populations in Africa and Asia that lack the resources to have a healthy, happy life,” Klain said. “We’ve got to find a way to make the world work for everyone,” Klain said. “Climate change is an issue that impacts [sic] that greatly by making it harder for people to live where they live, by ...

(CNSNews.com) - On Saturday--one day after a bus that had departed from the Pentagon was quarantined on Capitol Hill in an Ebola false alarm--President Barack Obama issued a video message to Americans telling them that "you cannot get it [Ebola] from just riding on a plane or a bus." “Ebola is actually a difficult disease to catch. It's not transmitted through the air like the flu," Obama said in his weekly video message. "You cannot get it from just riding on a plane or a bus." But on Friday, a bus was quarantined on Virginia Avenue, SE, in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, D.C.--in what turned out to be an Ebola false alarm. The bus was carrying a ...

An Arizona county party official said he saw a man stuffing “hundreds” of ballots into the ballot box and later told a local news outlet the entire incident was caught on surveillance video. “A person wearing a Citizens for a Better Arizona T-shirt dropped a large box of hundreds of early ballots on the table and started stuffing the ballot box as I watched in amazement,” said A.J. LaFaro, chairman of the Maricopa County Republican Party. Surveillance video allegedly captures man stuffing “hundreds” of ballots into a ballot box in Maricopa County, Arizona, Aug. 25, 2014. A Disgusted Texan Says David Brooks Can Keep His “Houston Model” Of Economic Growth

I read David Brooks’s piece on how wonderful the Houston model of economic growth is. I am a native Houstonian and have lived in the area for 58 of my 64 years. The city is now basically a Third World hellhole and bears little resemblance to the city I grew up in. Whites are only 26% of the population and whole neighborhoods look like Tijuana slums, others like Shanghai or Bombay. The place is overrun with foreigners who can barely speak English. This is why the city has had a succession of liberal, often incompetent mayors. I now live in a suburb of the city but unfortunately my area has become a magnet for Muslims, Indians and Chinese. Brooks can keep this economic model. I much ...

The conservatives' answer to Shepard Fairey is also working on a fake website designed to mock Clinton and the Democratic Party Guerrilla street artist SABO, who made headlines with his Gwyneth Paltrow "Obama Drone" poster, has struck again — this time ahead of Hillary Clinton's upcoming Democratic fundraiser at Tavern restaurant in Brentwood. The Los Angeles artist early Friday hung signs depicting Wizard of Oz flying monkeys holding "Hillary 2016" signs from traffic lights and pasted them on utility boxes near the San Vicente Boulevard restaurant. Although, as SABO told The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, one poster near a Whole Foods had been ...

Normally a synod of Catholic bishops does not provide fireworks rivaling the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Mayor Richard Daley’s boys in blue ran up the score on the radicals in Grant Park. But, on Oct. 13, there emanated from the Synod on the Family in Rome a 12- page report from a committee picked by Pope Francis himself–and the secondary explosions have not ceased. The report recognized the “positive aspects of civil unions and cohabitation” and said “homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community.” As for Catholics who divorce and remarry without an annulment, we must avoid “any language or behavior ...

New York Court May Grant Personhood ToTommy The Chimpanzee

Human rights may no longer be just for humans. A group called the Nonhuman Rights Project is currently involved in a legal battle to get a 26-year-old chimpanzee named Tommy recognized as a legal person deserving of certain legal rights, such as “bodily liberty and bodily integrity.” The group claims that Tommy “is being unlawfully imprisoned and therefore being deprived of his fundamental common law right to bodily liberty.” Of course, this chimp only has a right to bodily liberty if it is recognized as a person, which is currently what the court is trying to decide. Last year, judges denied Tommy and three other chimpanzees legal personhood, so the NhRP appealed all of ...

Thousands In New York To Protest Death of Klinghoffer Opera

New York — October 20, 2014 … Over five thousand Jews and Christians are expected to turn out for a demonstration today against the opening of “The Death of Klinghoffer” Opera at New York’s Lincoln Center. On Oct. 8, 1985, 69-year-old wheelchair-bound Leon Klinghoffer, was shot in the head by Palestinian hijackers on the Achille Lauro cruise ship. The terrorists brutally and unceremoniously threw his body and wheelchair overboard into the Mediterranean. His body washed up on the Syrian shore a few days later. “The four terrorists responsible for his murder will be humanized by distinguished opera singers and given a back story, an ‘explanation’ for ...

Chalk it up to karma, fate or bad luck. Whatever you call it, the Ebola scare is proof that Bad Things Happen to Bad Presidents. The morphing of what is a single case into near panic is, according to medical experts, unwarranted. They point out that, so far, one person from Liberia died in a Texas hospital and two nurses who treated him got sick. Period, end of panic. In rational and medical terms, they may be right. But their calculations omit another factor. It’s the X factor. In this case, X stands for trust. President Obama has spent six years squandering it, and the administration’s confusion, contradictions and mistakes on Ebola fit the pattern. This is how he rolls. ...

(President Barack Obama waves as he arrives for a campaign rally for Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown (R) at a High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland October 19, 2014.) President Barack Obama made a rare appearance on the campaign trail on Sunday with a rally to support the Democratic candidate for governor in Maryland, but early departures of crowd members while he spoke underscored his continuing unpopularity. With approval levels hovering around record lows, Obama has spent most of his campaign-related efforts this year raising money for struggling Democrats, who risk losing control of the U.S. Senate in the Nov. 4 midterm election. Most candidates from his party have been wary of ...

Despite no official action from the president ahead of the election, the Obama administration has quietly begun preparing to issue millions of work authorization permits, suggesting the implementation of a large-scale executive amnesty may have already begun. Unnoticed until now, a draft solicitation for bids issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Oct. 6 says potential vendors must be capable of handling a “surge” scenario of 9 million id cards in one year “to support possible future immigration reform initiative requirements.” The request for proposals says the agency will need a minimum of four million cards per year. In the “surge,” ...

We have technology to potentially control Ebola and other viral outbreaks today. But the federal bureaucracy refuses to catch up with 21st-century science. For example, diagnostic startup Nanobiosym has an iPhone-sized device that can accurately detect Ebola and other infectious diseases in less than an hour. Two other companies, Synthetic Genomics and Novartis, have the capacity to create synthetic vaccine viruses for influenza and other infectious diseases in only four days. Both firms can also share data about outbreaks instantaneously and make real-time, geographically specific diagnosis and vaccine production possible. These companies could start producing Ebola vaccine/treatments ...

Obama Voters Express Regret In New USA Today Poll

Obama voters are having a case of buyer’s remorse, according to a new USA Today/Suffolk University poll in six states with key Senate races this November. The number of likely voters “who can remember voting” for President Obama has turned out to be lower than the actual number that did, USA Today reports. And of those who confessed to helping reelect the president in 2012, one in seven said they now regret their decision. Of the six states in the polling, only Kansas featured as many likely voters who remembered voting Obama as those who actually did (at 38 percent apiece.) In the other states, it broke down in the following manner. Arkansas had 37 percent Obama voters ...

Socialists push for $20.00 an hour minimum wage, but wont pay that much

The Freedom Socialist Party wants the minimum wage to be $20 an hour. However, they don't feel compelled to compensate their own workers with that kind of cash. The party is looking for a web developer, and posted a job listing on Craigslist a week ago and Indeed.com yesterday, and it's been raising eyebrows on social media. Although the average annual salary of a web developer in the U.S. is around $62,500, the Freedom Socialist Party only wants to pay $13 an hour, which would be $26,000 a year. Except that the party won't hire someone full-time, so their next web developer's total compensation won't even be that modest chunk of change. Perhaps they're just trying ...

In Idaho, Christian Pastors Ordered to Perform Fag Marriages. You Will Be Made to Care.

It is one of the tenets of the current movement toward gay marriage. They get to get married, Christians are forced to provide goods and services if they demand it, but — and this is the key caveat of it all — but Christian ministers will not be forced to wed gays because of their religious concerns. That was last week. This is this week where the government of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho is forcing two Christians pastors to marry gays. Libertarian atheists who hate Christians and don’t like to admit it will find their exception at this point. Donald and Evelyn Knapp run the Hitching Post, wherein they perform marriages. “Yes,” say the libertarians, “it’s ...

It is clear that this is no longer an outbreak of Ebola, it's a breakout of Ebola. We are now living in a post-containment world. Fortunately, this virus has vulnerabilities, and we can quickly improve our immune defense. When the protective suits and procedures fail to keep Ebola at arm's length, it becomes a fight between the organism and the defense. As there is no vaccine and there are no Ebola-specific drugs, it's time to help Americans understand what can be done. We have two types of immune defense: adaptive defense, which allows us to utilize preformed antibodies and anti-viral killer cells, and innate defense, which allows us to fight a microorganism we have never ...

General: US Troops Who Contract Ebola Will Be Quarantined in Liberia

If any American soldiers in Liberia contract the deadly Ebola virus, they will be quarantined, stabilized, and evacuated to a medical facility for treatment, said the Ebola mission commander, adding that the U.S. military hospitals that will admit potentially infected troops have not yet been identified. “If, God forbid, one of these soldiers, sailors, airmen, or marine contracted this disease, as I mentioned, they would be stabilized, they would be quarantined, we would go through the appropriate protocols,” Maj. Gen. Darryl Williams, commander of U.S. Army Africa, said on October 16 while briefing reporters in the Pentagon by telephone from Liberia. “People would be ...

Two Christian ministers who own an Idaho wedding chapel were told they had to either perform same-sex weddings or face jail time and up to $1,000 in daily fines, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court. Alliance Defending Freedom is representing Donald and Evelyn Knapp, two ordained ministers who own the Hitching Post Wedding Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. “Right now they are at risk of being prosecuted,” attorney Jeremy Tedesco told me. “The threat of enforcement is more than just credible.” The wedding chapel is registered as a “religious corporation” limited to performing “one-man-one-woman marriages as defined by the Holy Bible.” ...

Bishops scrap welcome to gays in sign of split ("irregular" unions voted down)

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Catholic bishops scrapped their landmark welcome to gays Saturday, showing deep divisions at the end of a two-week meeting sought by Pope Francis to chart a more merciful approach to ministering to Catholic families. The bishops failed to approve even a watered-down section on ministering to homosexuals that stripped away the welcoming tone of acceptance contained in a draft document earlier in the week.Rather than considering gays as individuals who had gifts to offer the church, the revised paragraph referred to homosexuality as one of the problems Catholic families have to confront. It said "people with homosexual tendencies must be welcomed with respect and ...

Cardinal Raymond Burke, the conservative American who holds the top position in the Vatican’s justice system, on Friday told BuzzFeed he was being demoted. Burke, a former archbishop of St Louis, has publicly challenged Pope Francis on issues including abortion and homosexuality. A preliminary report from the church’s extraordinary synod on the family, released on Monday, signalled a readiness to adopt a more conciliatory attitude towards homosexuality, divorce and other “irregular” family situations. More than 200 bishops contributed to the report, which said: “Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community: are we capable of ...

When I was a small boy, I was adopted. I grew up remembering nothing of my birth family and unaware that I had a biological sister, named Betsy. Many years later, I went in search of my biological family, but for Betsy it was too late: she had died. This is the story of how I was reunited with her — in Heaven. Before I start, I should explain that I am a scientist, who has spent a lifetime studying the workings of the brain. My adoptive father was a neurosurgeon and I followed his path, becoming an neurosurgeon myself and an academic who taught brain science at Harvard Medical School. Although nominally a Christian, I was sceptical when patients described spiritual experiences to ...
