NRA Spokesman Colion Noir: “Castile Should Be Alive.”

The NRA’s top players are still silent and for the most part, excusing themselves from the mess created by the death of Philando Castile. But now one prominent NRA spokesman has come out, and he thinks Castile should be alive. As mentioned by The Daily Sheeple yesterday, the NRA did make an announcement shortly after word broke of another police officer involved shooting. Considering Castile notified the police officer, Jeronimo Yanez, that he was armed, the NRA likely felt it was a gun issue, and it’s certainly looking like that’s the case. Yanez was found not guilty on Friday in what was obvious to most as a murder. In case it was missed yesterday, The Daily ...

Seattle gun tax update: Sales way down, shootings way up

Do you happen to recall this story out of Washington state that we covered here last year? It dealt with a steep tax on firearms and ammunition levied in Seattle, ostensibly intended to fund research into the effects of gun violence. It went into effect in 2016, receiving great applause from gun grabbing groups around the nation. But after nearly a year of being in place, the city was refusing to release any figures on how much money the tax had brought in nor what impact, if any, it was having on gun violence. More time has passed and the city’s elected officials still aren’t in the mood to discuss it, but as Fox News reports this week, some of the results are impossible to ...

A robbery suspect in Brazil entered a convenience store and drew his gun, only to be shot multiple times in a situation in which everyone was armed. Concealed Nation reports that the patrons were all off-duty police who were in the store shopping. Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) from LiveLeak shows four individuals in plain clothes standing in line to check out when a door opens and the would-be robber enters the business with his gun drawn. The robber is shot immediately by one of the off-duty officers who is off-camera at first, then comes into the picture when the robber goes down. The other men all draw their guns as well, some pointing at the robber and others walking toward the door ...

Trump Administration Seeks To Deny Gun Rights To Non-Violent “Criminals”

Donald Trump was endorsed by the NRA (National Rifle Association) and he assured his voters he’d protect their second amendment right to keep and bear arms.  Considering his new desire to keep non-violent “criminals” from owning guns, this flip-flop on values needs to be known. Scouring through conservative alternative media left much to be desired on this, while the left-leaning outlets are having a heyday.  The truth is more important than partisan politics, so it bears mentioning that this won’t sit nicely in the belly of those on the political right. But Sessions vs. Binderup is a big deal to anyone who seeks freedom from the continued oppression of ...

On Monday, a mother in Beech Bluff, Tennessee, confronted an alleged intruder by sticking the barrel of her gun in his face and asking, “[Is] there something I could do for [you]?” The incident occurred during the morning hours. According to WBBJ, the mother — Elsie Lee — and her son were sleeping when she heard strange noises. Lee immediately knew something was not right and that she had to act to protect her son. She went out into the hall, ran to where she keeps her .45 caliber pistol, then grabbed it and a shotgun too. Lee then noticed that someone was already in her home. She said, “The guy was standing in the kitchen. He had just busted my door open.” ...

WFAA reported, “A man opened fire at the Zona Caliente Sports Bar… but police say a customer with a gun of his own put a stop to it.” The man reported to police as an “active shooter” was 48-year-old James Jones. He allegedly walked into Zona Caliente, began arguing with the manager — 37-year-old Cesar Perez — and then pulled out a gun and killed Perez. At that moment a concealed carry permit holder responded by pulling his own gun and killing Jones. The ...

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution allows for all citizens to protect themselves and their loved ones by granting gun ownership rights to all Americans. But over the years, those rights have been impeded by what seems to be a laundry list of requirements gun owners must meet in order to be able to actually carry their firearm on their person. In fact, if someone doesn’t have a squeaky clean record, they’re more than likely not going to be able to carry a firearm in many U.S. states. Fortunately, law abiding citizens are undeterred in their efforts to exercise their rights to carry a weapon for self-defense. But to describe the inequities that still exist, we bring ...

The Barrett M107 .50-caliber long-range sniper rifle is a firearm made for the modern war on terrorism. Officially adopted by the U.S. Army in 2002 and boasting a 2,000-meter range, a suppressor-ready muzzle brake, and recoil-minimizing design, the semi-automatic offers "greater range and lethality against personnel and materiel targets than other sniper systems in the U.S. inventory," according to an assessment by Military.com. While Barrett's reputation of "flawless reliability" has made the M107 the sniper weapon of choice, the rifle is just like any other essential tool: It often breaks when you need it most. And that's apparently what happened to one Marine ...

A Navy unit out of Newport, R.I. took custody of five military-grade ordnance shells also found in the home. Police received information from a credible source that the resident at that address had numerous unsecured rifles and shotguns strewn about his house and as a result, obtained a search warrant issued by a Clerk Magistrate at Quincy District Court. They executed the search warrant at 2 p.m.   When the military shells were found, officers backed out of the home and notified the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad. Lake Elsinore, CA — Here at the Free Thought Project, we’ve seen some outright insanity when it comes to the actions of government and the police state. However, a grandma being raided by a NASA police force so they can steal her dead husband’s moon rock, is definitely up there. When Joann Davis was 75, she hit some hard financial times after finding herself raising grandchildren following her daughter’s death and her son’s illness. So, being the resourceful grandmother that she is, Davis began to think of ways to earn some extra cash. Then it hit her. Her first husband, Robert Davis worked as an Apollo 11 engineer, and he saved a paperweight with moon ...

All-knowing surveillance system detects gunfire all across America

Are those lamps on your local streets detecting when guns are fired? American cities are being upgraded to pinpoint shooters and help police fight gun violence. Like something out of the futuristic policing TV show “APB,” new tech can locate the exact position where a gun is fired and report it immediately to law enforcement. Called ShotSpotter, this is a tool that can be used by officials to respond even faster to the aid of gun violence victims — minutes can be the difference between life and death. And it provides police with far more information in advance. Before arriving on the scene, the tech tells police the exact location of the shooter or shooters, the type of ...

Can a Gun Shoot Itself?

Mar 2, 2017Gun control advocates routinely act as if firearms are inherently violent, rather than being inert, morally neutral tools that can be employed for either benign or malevolent purposes. Strangely enough, this fallacy is also commonly found in official reports from law enforcement agencies of incidents involving irresponsible firearms use by officers – and media outlets generally retail those official statements without critical commentary. The Tulsa World newspaper recently republished a statement from the Wagoner County, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Office describing how two citizens suffered minor injuries at a local restaurant when a reserve deputy’s firearm supposedly ...

The NRA's Unheralded Role in 2016

There are many claimants to the honor of having nudged Donald Trump over the top in the presidential election. But the folks with the best case are the National Rifle Association and the consultants who made their TV ads. The NRA did just about everything right. It endorsed Trump last May when he was still just the de facto nominee. The goal was to persuade Second Amendment supporters who’d backed other candidates to unify behind him. The NRA planned ahead. It had lined up TV time months beforehand when rates were lower. That saved money. Thus when the Access Hollywood tape threatened to capsize the Trump campaign a month before the election, the NRA had cash on hand for a fresh ad ...

Is Gun Ownership a Right?

(Video at link. Transcript follows.)Does an American citizen have a Constitutional right to own a gun? Here's what the Second Amendment says: "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Now, it once seemed to me like that language only protected state militias and not individuals. Indeed, this is the view held by the four dissenting Supreme Court justices in the 2008 case of District of Columbia versus Heller, a landmark case dealing with gun ownership. But the more research I did, the more I came to realize that my initial view was mistaken and that the Founders were, in ...

4th Circuit Upholds Maryland's 'Assault Weapon' Ban

The appeals court says the prohibited guns and magazines are outside the scope of the Second Amendment. Connecticut State Police Yesterday a federal appeals court upheld Maryland's ban on so-called assault weapons, saying ownership of such guns is "not protected by the Second Amendment." The decision, by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, overturned a 2016 ruling by a three-judge panel of the same court that said Maryland's law should be subject to "strict scrutiny" because it imposes a "substantial burden" on the right to keep and bear arms. Maryland's "assault weapon" ban, which it expanded after the 2012 massacre at Sandy ...
