The “Czech Donald Trump,” Andrej Babis, wins in a “voting hurricane”

The polls in the Czech Republic were predicting that the ANO party of Andrej Babis was going to do well this weekend, but even the most optimistic seemed to be surprised by the margin of victory. Known as “the Czech Donald Trump,” Babis is one of the richest people in the country and campaigned on a number of issues which would sound familiar to Trump voters in the United States. When the votes were all counted, his party had taken almost 40% of the seats in Parliament, with well over a quarter of the popular vote. One analyst on Czech television described it as, “a voting hurricane.” The centrist ANO movement led by populist Andrej Babis decisively won the Czech ...

Ottawa man not guilty of sexual assault because he thought he could have sex with wife anytime

An Ottawa man has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting his wife because of his honest belief that he had the right to have intercourse with her whenever he wanted. In a written ruling, Ontario Superior Court Justice Robert Smith said the Crown failed to prove that the accused had formed the required criminal intent — mens rea — to sexually assault his wife in 2002. “I find that the accused probably had sex with his wife on many occasions without her specific consent, as both he and she believed that he had the right to do so,” Smith said. However, the judge ruled the man was not guilty of sexual assault because the Crown had failed to establish that he knew ...

The twilight of the elites...in the European Union [Full Thread]

When I recently wrote about the possibility of a coming east-west schism in the European Union (EU), I focused primarily on Hungary and Poland. They’re part of that eastern block of countries which joined the EU a bit later and introduced a definite culture clash with their significantly more socialist, globalist neighbors in France and Brussels. Recent events to the east seem to have signaled a swift erosion of the older, established “elites” who have been running the show. But there are still more dominos left to fall. Signs of that happening come to us with additional news in a similar vein this month. For one example, can you name the youngest national leader in the ...

Austrian 'whizz-kid' in election triumph

Austria's political "whizz-kid" Sebastian Kurz was on course Sunday to become Europe's youngest leader, potentially in coalition with the far-right after its best result in almost 20 years. Kurz's conservative People's Party (OeVP) won 31.7 percent of the vote, followed by Chancellor Christian Kern's Social Democrats (SPOe) on 26.9 percent, projections that were broadly in line with preliminary results showed. Close behind was the nationalist Freedom Party (FPOe) on 26.0 percent, twice that of their allies the Alternative for Germany (AfD) last month and close to its all-time record of 26.8 percent in 1999 under then-leader Joerg Haider. Facebook and Twitter say they are getting better at spotting the kind of fake accounts used by the Russian government to interfere in US politics. Too bad that it won’t be so easy for the rest of us. That’s because the Kremlin’s propagandists are cranking out online ads, posts, and tweets that don’t look much different from the stuff Americans argue about every day on social media. Concerned about illegal immigration? So are the Russian operatives who used Facebook to promote a number of anti-immigrant rallies in the United States. “We must stop taking in Muslim refugees!” read the posting for one such rally, according to The Daily Beast. “We demand open ...

Catalonia, a region in Spain that includes Barcelona, plans to vote on independence this Sunday in a referendum that has been declared illegal by Spanish authorities. The question over the referendum has turned into one of Spain's "biggest political challenges" since the country returned to democracy after the death of dictator General Francisco Franco in 1975. The Spanish government has recently taken a strong stance against the referendum by raiding offices, shutting down pro-independence websites, and arresting officials. The pro-independence movement in Catalonia, meanwhile, insists the vote will continue as planned this weekend. We are seeing now in regard to North Korea a replay of the type of campaign the deep state and the media used in 2001 through 2003 to stir up the American people to support the invasion of Iraq. The Ron Paul Institute’s Adam Dick writes that this is the assessment of former United States House of Representatives member and presidential candidate Ron Paul in a Tuesday interview with Alex Jones on the Alex Jones Show. In the interview focused on US foreign policy and, in particular, relations between the US and North Korea, Paul declared: Just remember … the propagandists, the deep state and the media, convinced the American people that Saddam Hussein was a danger, ...

The Apocalypse Has Been Rescheduled According To Numerologist

The world didn’t end on September 23, as previously prophecized, but that doesn’t mean we are in the clear yet. David Meade, the original numerologist who claimed Nibiru smashing into the earth would end humanity on Saturday has recalculated the world’s end date. Christian numerologist David Meade predicted September 23 as the date a mysterious Planet X, also known as Nibiru, would collide with Earth.  Meade based his prediction largely on verses and numerical codes in the Bible and the numerical symbology in the pyramids in Egypt. However, as the day approached, Meade backed off on the prediction and said he was misunderstood and Nibiru wasn’t supposed ...

Almost half of the individuals suspected of a recorded crime in Berlin last year were individuals who don’t have a German passport, the latest police statistics show. The proportion of crimes carried out by immigrants rose to 45 per cent last year, a five per cent increase from 2015, when they comprised 40 per cent of crimes committed in the German capital. According to Berliner Morgenpost, which reported on the data before a longer version of the city’s crime statistics is published, the figure includes tourists, and “traveling gangs” who specialise in burglaries and pickpocketing. Foreigners were particularly overrepresented in the figures for certain crimes, ...

There are plenty of purple fingers all over the northern region of Iraq again today. At the time of this writing, the Kurds in that region are concluding a non-binding referendum on the question of independence from Baghdad and the formal creation of an independent Kurdistan from what’s now known as the Kurdish autonomous region. (That region is seven hours ahead of east coast time in the U.S.) But even a non-binding vote is causing trouble on both sides of the border. (ABC News) Millions are expected to vote on Monday across the three provinces that make up the Kurdish autonomous region, as well as residents in disputed territories — areas claimed by both Baghdad and the Kurds, ...

Weakened Merkel wins fourth term, hit by nationalist 'earthquake'

Chancellor Angela Merkel clinched a fourth term in Germany's election Sunday, but her victory was clouded by the entry into parliament of the hard-right AfD in the best showing for a nationalist force since World War II. Merkel, who after 12 years in power held a double-digit lead for most of the campaign, scored around 33 percent of the vote with her conservative Christian Union (CDU/CSU) bloc, according to preliminary results. It was their worst score since 1949. Its nearest rivals, the Social Democrats and their candidate Martin Schulz, came in a distant second, with a post-war record low of 21 percent. But in a bombshell for the German establishment, the anti-Islam, ...

For years, there has been a growing movement for independence from Spain in Catalonia, a prosperous region that includes the city of Barcelona. Since 1977, Catalan has enjoyed limited autonomy from the Spanish government and in 2006, Catalonian citizens approved the Statute of Autonomy for Catalonia by referendum vote, establishing the framework for Catalonia’s autonomous government. In 2010, the Statute of Autonomy was struck down by Spanish Government Constitutional Courts, which reignited the independence debate. And now, on October 1st, 2017, citizens of Catalonia will vote in a major referendum that could decide the future of the region. Well… if they’re allowed to ...
