Trump Curse? Nasty Nats Lose Three in a Row at Home in World Series After Dissing POTUS
Post Date: 2019-10-28 04:54:15 by WWG1WWA

After winning the first two games on the road, the Washington Nationals lost three games in a row in their World Series home stand against the Houston Astros this weekend following several snubs of President Trump by the team and protests by fans. After scoring a combined 17 runs in their two opening victories the Nationals have only scored one run per game while getting blown out at home by the Astros who have scored a combined 19 runs in their three road victories. When Trump announced he would be attending a possible Game 5 on Sunday, the Nationals announced Trump antagonist chef Jose Andres would throw out the ceremonial first pitch for that game. (Trump had already said he was not ...

Hundreds of pro-Hong Kong protesters flood NBA game amid China controversy

Hundreds of activists attended an NBA game between the Toronto Raptors and the Brooklyn Nets wearing pro-Hong Kong shirts. Film producer Andrew Duncan purchased 300 tickets to the Friday night game at New York City’s Barclays Center. Duncan provided the tickets to hundreds of activists willing to attend the game while wearing shirts that read, "Stand With Hong Kong." The protesters also wore black masks that resembled the masks that activists in Hong Kong wear during protests to protect themselves from tear gas used by police. Hong Kong politician and activist Nathan Law also attended the game. Law, 26, is a prominent pro-democracy advocate who was arrested and imprisoned ...

Does Corporate America Really Want to Hold a National Referendum on Whether Americans Value Their Own Freedoms or Corporate Freedom to Import Chinese Censorship More?

Jay Cost writes on Twitter (sarcastically): Corporate America going soft on the Chinese is definitely a smart move. There is nothing that warms the cockles of the American heart more than insanely wealthy c-suites coddling a country that spits on the Bill of Rights. This is a path to bipartisan popularity for Wall Street. Americans also love to be lectured about the minutest of their personal, social, and political preferences while foreign oppressors get a total pass. You are not waking the bear. This will be fine. Don't think twice about the populist movements that have roiled American politics over the last decade. I'm sure they will never turn their attention to the various ...

NBA Now Requiring All Players To Stand For Chinese National Anthem

NEW YORK, NY—In an effort to salvage its relationship with China, the NBA is now requiring all players to stand for the Chinese national anthem at the beginning of every game. The official song of the People's Republic of China, "March of the Volunteers," will be played at the start of all professional basketball games, whether at home or abroad. All players, fans, coaches, and employees will be required to stand and solemnly sing lyrics including the following:Millions of but one heart we run towards the Communist tomorrow!Build our homeland, guard our homeland, and fight gallantly.March on! For the cash: Ex-NFL player stages hate crime, trashes his businesses

“Jussie Smollett, the Sequel” was stopped by police in Georgia last week before the plot ever reached the big screen. Former NFL player Edawn Coughman was arrested for staging a hate crime in a half-baked scheme that involved trashing his own restaurants for insurance money. “It appears as though Edawn conjured a premeditated plan to damage his own property, attempt to make it appear as a hate crime, file a claim with his insurance company, and sell off the undamaged appliances and electronics,” a Gwinnett County police statement said. Police were tipped off by a witness reporting a break-in and burglary-in-progress at Create and Bake Restaurant and Coughman’s ...

New Jersey high school wrestler forced to cut locks or forfeit match

BUENA, New Jersey (WPVI) -- The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights is now investigating after a high school wrestler was forced to cut his hair before a match. The incident has sparked questions about why the teen was called out for his hair. Many say the only reason why there was a call to cut the hair was because of the color of the wrestler's skin. Buena Regional High School wrestler Andrew Johnson, a junior, had to have his hair cut or forfeit the match. In video taken of the incident, you can see his locks getting chopped off by a trainer. He would then go on to win his match. The order to cut the locks came from referee Alan Maloney. Back in 2016 Maloney reportedly called ...

We have a high school sports story out of Connecticut from last week which is likely going to be of more interest than you might think. (Assuming you’re not one of the parents who brought their child to the event, anyway.) On Monday, the Connecticut State Open track and field championships were held for high school students. Of particular interest were the girls 100 and 200 meter dash. Let’s watch one of those record-setting events via a tweet from Game Time Connecticut. Deflated: NFL popularity at new low, just 3 in 10 are 'favorable'

The National Football League has done nothing to recover during the off season from it’s miserable popularity ratings that are now at the lowest ever. Rocked by the issues of players taking a knee during the playing of the National Anthem, overly long games, and scandalous players, just 35 percent say they have a favorable view of “America’s sport.” According to an Economist/YouGov poll taken May 27-29 another 47 percent have an “unfavorable” view of the NFL. What's more, only 15 percent called the NFL a "top interest," and 37 percent said that they are "Not at all interested" in the games. Many teams are already in early training camp ...

How many activists need to be signed before sufficient wokeness has been achieved to play ball? You can certainly trust hyper-progressive activist Shaun King to give you the straight dope on what star NFL players are and aren’t thinking: BREAKING: Several star @NFL players have told me they are considering sitting out the season until the de facto ban of Eric Reid and Colin Kaepernick is removed and both men are given spots back on rosters. They aim to get 25% of the players to sit out with them. — Shaun King (@ShaunKing) May 27, 2018 Reid was one of the first players to kneel alongside Kaepernick during the national anthem and has since filed his own collusion grievance ...

Redskins cheerleaders: The team practically "pimped us out" to rich dudes and corporate sponsors in Costa Rica in 2013

Silver lining, I guess: The name “Redskins” is no longer the team’s biggest political problem. There was no actual sex in this “pimping out,” the Times’s sources say, just some of the traditional pre-coitus arrangements for an escort service. A group of attractive women all in the firm’s employ are told that a group of wealthy men wants to mingle with them privately, and saying no doesn’t seem to be much of an option. Allegedly, when you sign up to cheer for the ‘Skins you’re also unwittingly signing up to be “companions” for rich fans in foreign countries after they’ve watched you model topless. Oh, and after team management ...

Ratings for NBC's Olympics Continue to Stink on Ice

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea – The women’s figure skating competition hasn’t begun at these Olympic Games, yet we already know who is going to come in first and second, barring epic collapses on the ice, which could happen, but probably won’t. An Olympic Athlete from Russia will win, and another Olympic Athlete from Russia will come in second in the competition that begins Wednesday with the short program and ends Friday with the long. Comedy Skit Features Fans Who Want MORE Politics In Their Sports

We The Internet, a "political and comedy news channel," uploaded a video recently, titled "The Fans Who Want More Politics In Sports." The video takes a look at a fictional group of sports fans who not only praise kneeling NFL players, but crave more political commentary from their sports. "And that’s just football. What about hockey?" one fan asks. "Wouldn’t it be amazing if right before the puck drops, we hear a debate about trans rights?" Another fan suggests: "How about this: after committing a penalty, instead of hockey players just sitting in the penalty box until their time is up, they should be required to write a think-piece ...

Super Bowl LII had fewest viewers since 2009, down 7 percent from last year
Post Date: 2018-02-06 03:34:10 by Tooconservative

The NFL’s ratings slide continued through its final game of the season. According to Nielsen data released Monday, viewership for Super Bowl LII was measured at 103.4 million, the lowest figure for the game since 2009 and a 7 percent drop from last year’s game. The good news for the NFL is that its annual championship game still easily reigns supreme among all TV shows, and to a lesser extent, that the Super Bowl ratings drop from last year was lower than the league’s nearly 10 percent plunge for its regular season games. Ratings for most TV programming is down, as people increasingly cut the cord from cable and follow events on social media. To that end, NBC, which ...

Why Tom BradyÂ’s New England Patriots Are the Most Tainted Sports Dynasty Ever

Thank God for the New England Patriots. Yes, the New England Patriots, the cheating-est, MAGA-est dynasty in sports. Why be grateful for the presence of this unholy, and seemingly unstoppable team in the Super Bowl yet again? Because it’s one of the few good and true reasons to tune into the game, if only for the miniscule possibility that Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft might be dealt a righteous and wholly justified loss. Aside from that, no amount of Puppy Bowls, celebrity halftime performances, and multimillion-dollar ad buys is worth it, because this may have been the year that finally broke football. For anyone still laboring under the delusion that there are ...

Madden NFL 18 predicts Super Bowl 52

Madden NFL 18 predicts a 24-20 Super Bowl victory for the New England Patriots over the Philadelphia Eagles, which would give this year’s cover star, Pats quarterback Tom Brady, a sixth world championship ring. In EA Sports’ simulation — which is a CPU-versus-CPU game with current rosters on All-Pro difficulty — New England is trying to salt away the victory when the Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins strips the ball from running back Dion Lewis. Philadelphia, trailing by four, gets the ball back with 1:44 left, apparently deep in its own territory.Quarterback Nick Foles, who took over when starter Carson Wentz was injured in week 14 of the season, gets the Eagles to about ...

Meek Mill to watch Super Bowl from prison

Rapper Meek Mill and the other inmates at SCI Chester will get to watch the Super Bowl in prison.  But, for Mill, the game has special meaning.  The Philadelphia Eagles will take the Super Bowl field -- arguably the largest stage in the world -- to his song "Dreams and Nightmares." SCI Chester confirmed with with PennLive Saturday that Mill will have the choice to watch from his cell on a TV purchased from the commissary or on one of the community TVs designated for the entire block. Mill released the following statement on the Eagles Super Bowl run: "I'm so proud of my Eagles for making the Super Bowl and representing the city of Philadelphia. It really lifted ...

Here’s Why You Probably Won’t See Any Anthem Protests At The Super Bowl

NBC announced early last week that they plan to televise players who kneel for the national anthem during the Super Bowl. However, ones small problem: No regular NFL kneeler is still playing in the postseason. According to a report by The Washington Times, none of the teams that had active national anthem protesters made it to the post season. According to the Times: By the end of the regular season, only five teams featured at least one player regularly sitting or kneeling on the sidelines for the anthem: the Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Giants and the Oakland Raiders. None of those franchises made the playoffs, even though four of the ...

NFL Ratings Plunge Again For Divisional Playoff Round

The NFL just can't buy a break. Although there were a few decent games over the past weekend — including the crazy, last-second win by Minnesota — ratings for America's football league dropped once again. Viewership has been down all year, due to both the player protests during the national anthem and a whole lot of boring games. But NFL owners were hoping the playoffs would end all that. No such luck. The Wild Card round two weekends ago saw ratings drop 13% over last year (and the games were pretty crummy). Then last weekend, for the divisional playoff games, ratings for all four games fell to their lowest point in almost a decade, according to NBC. The good news, if ...

Ratings Down for All Four NFL Playoff Games, Chiefs-Titans Least Watched in 5 Years

Following a regular season where most NFL fans decided they had better things to do on Sunday afternoons than watch football; it appears those same fans still have better things to do on Saturdays and Sundays in the postseason. The first round of playoffs suffered double-digit ratings drops, as the NFL begins the most important part of its calendar year, Awful Announcing reported. Saturday’s Tennessee Titans-Kansas City Chiefs game didn’t deliver for ESPN or ABC, losing two full ratings points over last year’s game. The game drew a 14.7 overnight rating compared to last years 16.6 for the Houston Texans-L.A. Raiders game. It was the worst rating since 2012, Awful ...

NFL television ratings down 9.7 percent during 2017 regular season
Post Date: 2018-01-04 16:30:15 by Tooconservative

NFL television ratings fell 9.7 percent during the 2017 regular season, according to numbers registered by Nielsen. A typical game was watched by 1.6 million fewer people this season as compared to last season (14.9 million versus 16.5 million). The drop comes after the NFL had hoped to stem an 8 percent ratings slide from last season by experimenting with the format for television commercials and trying to speed up the game. Last year's slide was partly attributed to a lost audience due to the presidential election. This year, the NFL was challenged with fans upset at players protesting during the national anthem, an action that led to a league faceoff with President Donald Trump. ...

Ravens admit anthem protests tanked their ticket sales

The Baltimore Ravens are no longer in contention for the AFC North title, having fallen too far behind the Steelers, but they are currently tied with the Bills and the Titans for a wild card slot and they’ve been showing a lot of potential. They play the Colts today in a home game that could prove to be a make or break match in terms of their chances at a post-season appearance. With that much on the line, you’d expect the stadium to be buzzing, but in addition to the Colts, Baltimore is facing another battle. They’re trying to fill up the seats at M&T Bank Stadium and avoid yet another embarrassing display of sparsely populated stands. The Ravens sold out every single ...

Roger Goodell: NFL fans don’t come to stadiums ‘to be protested to’ Jason Rowan Sportress of Blogitude November 8, 2017 NFL commissioner Roger Goodell perhaps made his strongest remarks regarding the league’s national anthem protest controversy by stating, “People come to our stadiums to be entertained and have fun, not to be protested to.” Goodell was a speaker at Bloomberg’s The Year Ahead Summit in New York on Wednesday and to no surprise the polarizing anthem protest issue was addressed. Goodell opened his remarks by expressing a preference for players to stand during the anthem. “I think that’s one of the things I think when we have a ...
